How many on JWN still trapped in Org. & will it get easier with time?

i have only been mentally out for just over a year and i find it difficult to live this double life, ( ex-elder/reg pioneer).

i'm still in for probably the same reason as most who post here=.

a wife that i cherish= who would be destroyed and kick me to the curb.

Your situation sounds eerily like Gumby's a former long time poster on this board. After being out for 13 years, he caved and went and got reinstated in 2007 so that his family would treat him like a human being. From what he's described, it does not get any easier with time. If anything, it gets worse because the Organization is becoming more and more controlling all the time. Once the blinders have been stripped away, you can't really go back through the Looking Glass, because you know full well that the entire religion is nothing more than a high-control book publishing cult.

I understand the difficulty you are facing. No one should have to chose between their family, life-long friends and their beliefs, but that's exactly what this stinking rotten religion enforces on many. So it sounds like eventually you may have to chose between your friends and wife and your own sanity and peace of mind.

Last Sunday's WT Study Set My Mother Off

did anyone catch any points in sunday's wt study that might have set my other off in regard to associating with non-jws?.

here's the deal.... my youngest sister is in the process of a fade.

my family knows she doesn't go to the kh anymore and that she is seriously dating a 'worldly' guy and very close to being engaged.. my parents have planned a weekend getaway for the family (exclusing us of course) and my mother indicated that the boyfriend would be included (although of course separate bedrooms).. then all of a sudden she called my sister today and said something was said in the wt study and so now she is not comfortable with him coming.

I agree with unshackled. She was probably reading an article from the July 15th study edition. Ironically, my Dub sister asked me last week if I had read it because it really pissed her off. She said "it was talking about how we shouldn't talk to family members who have left the truth and I thought 'oh get a life and stop trying to be so controlling.' It really irked her. I'm fortunate that my family does not pay any attention to that bullshit about shunning family members who leave, though I know others are not so fortunate.............

catholics have the purgatory and heavens.

That's not a two-tiered class like the Dubs have. Most Xtian religions teach their followers about heaven and hell, or in the case of Catholics, purgatory, hell and heaven. What they do not do is as I mentioned above: they do not divide their followers' destiny based on a frigging date.

there are hundereds of other groups with similar stupidity. scientology for example is against psychiatrists. many esoteric groups are against vaccinations. some rely solely on homeopathy.

Name one other religion or cult that denies their members blood transfusions. As far as I know, the WTS is the only one who does and the title of this thread is naming something that "is unique to Jehovah's Witnesses". This is unique.

they aren't special in that way either. that's a pretty common christian thing actually

Yes, and when you read that list that you linked to, guess which group had the most failed predictions: Jehovah's Witnesses.

They are the only 'christians' I know of that do not allow 99.9% of their members to partake of the bread and wine;
They are the only ones that teach a two-tiered class of a Christian's destiny;
They are the only ones that force their followers to commit suicide or let family members die because of the blood doctrine and then somehow think this is showing 'respect' for life;
They force their kids to stand outside the door for opening exercises because they view showing respect and pride in your country as being the same as bowing down to an idol of Ba'al or Zeus;
They've had more 'end of the world' failed predictions than any other religion or cult, yet they still smugly teach that they are the only true religion approved by God.

AFTER baptism what happens next??

what happens to a member once baptised?

do they have a full personality removal and wt chip installed??

Immediately after baptism, you are dropped like a hot potatoe as you can no longer be counted as time or a bible study on someone's field serve-us report. They've moved on to the next potential victim bible study and you're on your own. Of course, if you want to be invited out to other high profile Witlesses homes for socializing, then you'll be expected to be at all the meetings, out banging on doors at every opportune moment and carve out for yourself a niche in the pecking order.

as part of my objective analysis of four month's worth of watchtower study editions from july to october 2011, i found the following gem from a question from readers, on page 22 of the august 15 magazine.

the question under discussion was "how are we to understand the figures in the annual service report?

", and it goes on to provide an idiot's guide to what the figures mean, including the following.... "memorial partakers.

when reading the publications, or sitting bored out of my skull in the meetings, the same scriptures come up all of the time.

matt 24:45 is quoted so often it hurts my hair roots.. is anyone out there capable of indexing scriptures by frequency of use?

Surprisingly, "new light" only got 76 hits (that can't be right.....)
"Apostates" got 512 hits, while "the last days" got a whopping 2,229 hits. Proof it's super-duper close now!!!
"Oral sex" got a measly 46 hits, "1975" got 1,693 and the grand daddy of all dates, "1914" got 6,398 hits!! Pretty good for a false date eh?
"Jehovah" got 250,832 hits while "Jesus" got about half of that: 128,188 hits.
"the slave" got 906 hits while "the faithful and discreet slave" got 1,200.

just felt a tremor in boston and was on the phone when it happened with a coworker in dc - shook the building there :).

must be the last days!.

I was having a nap yesterday afternoon when I felt everything start to really shake. I thought "WTH is that?!" Got up about 15 minutes later and put the TV on. On the Hamilton station it said "DID YOU FEEL THE EARTHQUAKE?" I had assume it had hit around here and was surprised that it had actually struck in Virginia. 5.9 is probably peanuts by California standards, but it was quite considerable around here.

Geeze, in the last few days, Southern Ontario has experienced tornados and an earthquake---two pretty rare phenomenon around here.
