  i have a very close friend whos history of traumatic experiences and drug use has culminated into very severe mental and physical detioratation.

  i dont want to get into personal information but one major symptom is that he has become religiously deluded about himself.

  to be blunt, he believes he is a special prophet chosen by jehovah.

  i hope that if any witness sees this thread, they understand that being a witness = being a time waster.. please understand this.

  if you don't believe me, i'm sure others here will agree.. if you can salvage any of your time that is left, do it!

  outsmart - you keep mentioning the imperfections of the elders....and how people need to overlook them because we are all imperfect and we need to learn what true humility is.....etc etc.

  dj - if this is what you believe to be true, then you are mistaken, because even though jehovah's witnesses are directed by holy spirit, we have at times 'gotten it wrong.

  dj - i can agree that jehovah's witnesses are god's mouthpiece today, that we do speak for god.

  DJEggnogg:Because the doctrines and conceptions of the Jehovah's witnesses are extreme and, it clearly violates the principle of balance.Hence they are prone to mental depression.As long as you are able to discharged your so-called Christian responsibilities,you are not in trouble.

  That is where the problem starts:1Kings18:-19: After the contest with the Baal Prophets,Elijah ran and hid himself in the cave.Why because he was exhausted and depressed.See how Jehovah God handles the matter.He told Elijah to anoint Elisha to replace him.However the WT would deem anyone as spiritually weak if they fail to put in the hours Problably not listening what the brother in question was going through.

  Nebeska, if you are feeling despair and helpless, although you may not experience the full bloom symptoms of depression, you could still be in Depression. The attachment we have/had with the organisation is gone. It can feel like losing our parent because we turn to Jehovah for unconditional acceptance and love. So, we see through the human organisation that claims to rep Jehovah, the dis-illusion can be too much. Sugg you read Raymond Franz's In Search of Christian Freedom, so you can be freed from this codependency. Also, go to YouTube and watch "This is Mind Blowing". You will realize we are just so small and so is our problem. Just live in the moment and enjoy this beautiful life that Jehovah gives. Jehovah is independent of men, religions and organisations. Our problem is we have been conditioned to look at the past, projecting our reasoning to the future. So, we are not living, living is being about to enjoy the moment. That's why we will have more and more of JWs getting depression.

  i can certainly say that i did and that i knew alot of others that did too.

  i can also say that i don't any more, i left my panic attacks in the km!.

  Becoming of the anointed & seeing the light

  i was recently born again and thus am anointed because of this i have come to realize that though there are sincere people who are jw, some teachings are fine but the wt organization is a fraud.

  here is my story sorry if it's a bit long but i need to tell it.. 16 years ago today i was baptized as one of jw's.

  i was 17 years old the only one in my family.

  discreteslave the jws are not going to belive you that you are anointed,if you could in some born again church maybe they will accept you.but that means that the jws are going to disfellowshipped you because you affiliate with the church.

  the other thing is that you should continue with your medication.at least stick to consistantly one type of medicine or you could have injection once every month during your followup with the doctor.it is very important to ward off "anxiety attack"

  i just cannot understand how any one in their right mind can read the experiences here concerning the wachtower society's false claims, lies, trickery and deceit, and the example shown by the so-called "elders" in treating the flock with disdain and cruelty, and still stay a jehovah's witness.. lurkers, how can you do that?

  do you simply dismiss all the evidence?

  have any of you experienced such evil acts personally and still stay connected to the jw's?.

  examine 1 peter 4:14 and john 15:17-21 and consider: can you name any of jehovah's witnesses who has ever been persecuted or reproached on account of the name of jesus?

  please think very carefully about what the answer means, in light of plainly stated scripture.. i would love to see a discussion about this that includes comments from jws and apologists.. respectfully,.

  i don't blame jws for my life's issues.but i never started out mentally depressed.i had nervous breakdown only after my attempt on the neutrality issue and failed.i wondered was there a link.
