I wonder if active jws are aware of this particular legal situation? I mean active ones who are not on this site. Has the society addressed this to the general jw public? I hardly ever hear from my parents, or any other active jws, so I am out of the loop. I will make sure to let all of my friends who have blogs know about this, if they don't already.

I guess I am no more a girlfriend in dilemma
by DilemmaGF ini think my boyfriend just dumped for jw.
he is an inactive jw, he was the the one who started tp pursue the relationship and now he kind of shunning me.
i don't why, maybe because he sensed that i am trying to tell him a lot about the true jesus and because he felt like he can't convert me, but that's okay, i understand.

The pain is fresh right now. It will fade, and if you stay on this forum and read the heartbreaking situations that those married to JWs find themselves in every day, you will be so glad that you are not permanently tied to him. He is probably miserable if it is any consolation! He most likely made the decision to break up because fear got the better of him. The fear that the WTS instills in its followers.
My thoughts are with you, things will get better and life will get brighter for you.

WT article on Prohibition - 1924
by poopsiecakes ini found this to be very interesting on a lot of levels.. http://www.druglibrary.org/schaffer/history/e1920/rutherford1.htm.
some exerpts:.
recently the president of our association, responding to a question concerning the eighteenth amendment of the constitution of the united states, which prohibits the manufacture, sale and transportation of intoxicating liquor within the united states and which is known as the prohibition law, said: "prohibition is a scheme of the devil," referring of course to the law above mentioned.

So, the bible story about Jesus turning the water into wine at that wedding didn't exist in 1924?............

Long-Term Effects of Physical Abuse
by rebel8 inobviously this is a very personal matter.
i can't believe i'm posting it here but i need to make myself.
i'm probably going to regret this.. i have discussed before that i was physically abused and neglected as a jw child.

Rebel8---I was physically and psychologically abused by my JW father. I have some of these symptoms, but the one that bothers me the most is feeling like nobody likes me. I know that it is irrational. I know that there is always going to be some who like you and some who don't. Perhaps the real problem is that it really upsets me when someone doesn't like me. I'm starting to address it and changing my internal dialogue.
I tell myself that to worry too much about who doesn't like me is futile. I tell myself to do the best I can to be a good person, and not to care when someone doesn't recognize or appreciate it. I never realized how much the things I said to myself in my "brain conversations" were having an effect on me. I was constantly telling myself that I was stupid or ugly, or annoying. Really tearing myself down. I also have no interest whatsoever in having children. Have you ever analyzed the internal conversations you have with yourself? I would be interested to hear what you and others' who have been abused say to themselves, and if changing internal dialogue has proven effective in changing negative self images.

I am now officially an Ex-JW!!!!
by Momma-Tossed-Me ini am now officially by being announced at congregation level that i am no longer one of jehovahs wihtnesses.
that news spread like wild fire and i was dropped by all jw's on facebook, which shows the level of control the borg has in this area.
what is interesting is there was no juducial committee.

It is scary that they can do that. I sometimes wonder if that is why I haven't heard from my mother in a while. Maybe they df'd me without telling me! I wouldn't mind disassociating myself but I don't want to lose contact with my family.

Do you miss "dressing up" for the meetings?
by dozy ini was thinking about this the other day when doing a bit of tidying up of my wardrobe.
all the kh suits are now pushed to the back of the wardrobe and i am seriously thinking about a visit to the charity shop to get rid of most of them.. for me one of the (few) enjoyable aspects of being a jw was getting dressed up.
my secular work very rarely involves putting on a dress suit & tie so i miss getting dressed up - smart suit , tie , shiny shoes , slapping on the aftershave.

Bwaaaahahahahahaha! No. I do not miss it at all. I was a tall thin girl and no matter what I wore I always got called onto the carpet or into the library for it because there were two older frumpy sisters who were pioneers and "pillars of the congregation" who always had a problem with it. They were mother and daughter and the father was an elder, (a very corrupt one at that). I really tried to be as modest as possible. Never anything above the knee. Never anything skin tight. It didn't seem to matter. I only dress up for weddings, funerals and job interviews now. I love my jeans and tees! That is something that I forgot to mention in the thread about "Gee isn't it great not to be a witness" moments.

Our latest "Gee it's great not to be a JW" moment. Share yours!
by Open mind inrecently my son had a minor injury that required a trip to the emergency room.
the admitting nurse asked us a ton of questions and then this:.
nurse: do you have a religion?.

Listening to music that is not WTS approved. Getting a degree instead of pioneering. Going to play cards or other games with friends rather than going to the hall on a Tuesday night. Having a lazy Saturday morning, then getting out and going for a hike or to visit family. Laughing at my ex-husband when I am having coffee with my sister in law, and he drives by the coffee shop while out in field service and gives me a condescending, smug, "I am better than you" look through the window of a Buick. The list goes on and on....

Young People Ask . . . March 2012 Awake
by sizemik ini read very little wts propaganda these days, even on-line stuff .
unless it's for a specific purpose.
most of you will identify with that.. i perused this article while checking out something else and was disturbed by the manipulative reasoning directed at jw youths.

Sizemik--- Thank you for this post. I find it hard to believe that those comments by the supposed JW teens were geniune as well.
