for those who were jws, what did you expect to do during the 1,000 year reign?.
since only loyal jws would survive armageddon, it seemed to me that field service and tms would be eliminated.. so what did you expect to do with your time, besides getting rid of the dead bodies and petting lions?.

the january wt has some good stuff in it.
the basic message is that armageddon is just about to come, god will kill people, and jws will be spared because they use gods name (of all things!
he is really picky about that name!).
EVERY belief in JW hinges on Armageddon:
Go to ALL the meetings - if you don't, you may die at Armageddon
Don't slow down in service - if you do, you may go astray and die at Armageddon
Don't associate with wordly people - if you do, you will become like them and die at armageddon
Beware of the internet - so many things on there will get you destroyed at armageddon
Watch out for facebook, there are worldy people on there and you may get in with them and die at armageddon
You should be pioneering, because if you can do it, but you don't, you aren't serving whole souled and you will die at armageddon.
I think there's like 23,000 other ones too....

so last night my wife brought the situation up again and kept telling me how sorry i'm going to be for what i'm doing to our family.
i kept a mild attitude and tried to reason with her.. she refused!.
i went about it in the way that sweet baby cheezits recommended.
Talking to a person under mind control is very similar to talking to a rock that you pick up off the ground. I have had many conversations over the last 6 months with active JW's. The idea that their beliefs could be wrong won't even register. It's like a computer program that gets hung and won't process. They just keep repeating the same things:
(1) Where else can we go?
(2) The light is getting brighter
(3) You know this is the truth.
(4) Who have you been talking to?
(5) If God didn't choose this organization, then who did he choose?
(6) You will never find true friends in the world
(7) You will be miserable
And then they just start over at the top and go through them again.

debator (or any other current jw on the board),.
will you please explain to me the understanding of how the 7 trumpet blasts in revelation were fulfilled?
has it already happened?
Evidently, WT has been right all along with the Revelation prophecies. It's just that the "scene of this world is changing"
:-)
i just remembered when i was a kid and we would go to the assembly, it was fun because we got to buy new clothes and put extra effort into looking good.
when we would get there you could save your seats and even save some for your friends, then go off looking for them.. i used to love our circuit assembly because of the food.
it was at the assembly hall and there was a big kitchen, some of my favourite brothers worked in that kitchen, sometimes i was allowed to go in and help.
The only fun assemblies I remember are when I was a kid, and it was fun to stay in motels and go swimming. And then as a teenager it was fun to cruise the corridors looking to meet girls. Other than that, they were pretty much a drag..
lets see who gets closer to the number.
bets will end when the new yearbook is ready (when is that?).
i say 11000.
Let me just put this out here: there is no reason to assume they will give us the TRUE numbers. So if they need to adjust them a little, there's no reason to think they won't.
this real audio recording of a district overseer in 1968 is one of the most disturbing things i came accross in my surfing.
it perfectly demonstrates the misleading nature of the "we never said 1975" statement.
while perhaps technically true, see if this talk doesn't make any loyal jw rethink what was really said about 1975.. download real audio if you don't already have it to listen to this talk.
My former PO told me in March of this year in our last conversation, that he is 70 years old and he believes Armageddon is only weeks away.
LOL
i'm 19 and trying to get a job.
my dad won't pay for my college if i don't pioneer.. if i get a job, i can't pioneer while in college.. i can supposedly work and study, but i need a good way to get rid of pioneering (it was never my idea in the first place - blame the parents with their social coercion).. if i stop pioneering, i will be told by my parents that i don't love jehovah (not that i care what they say).. how can i do this as painlessly as possible?.
i want to move out someday and have enough money to do this.. by the way, if you read my started topics you will see my situation in more detail and that my dad is the coordinator of the boe..
Outlaw - LOL
I pioneered 5 years. It was a complete waste of time. I gave up a college scholarship to do it. Now I'm back in college, and I'm paying full price for it.
what's a really good movie you'd recommend that most people probably haven't seen?.
my personal recommendation: synecdoche, new york.
it's one of those movies that words fail utterly to capture--which really is the hallmark of a good movie, i suppose.
The Talented Mr. Ripley
it seems as if they have survived it all.
bad press such as articles on molestations, neutrality, blood, defections of high ranking officials, crazy changes in doctrines, financial stresses, passage of a 100 years without one prophecy coming true.
yet they are still going strong with new members being recruited at a faster level than those who leave.
It's been around over 130 years, so don't expect a shutdown anytime soon. But more and more people are leaving. And they are struggling with increases. And it appears that the money is drying up. So in time, the increases may turn to decreases. Until then, we aren't over the hump yet. The internet has been a big factor. Before the internet, where could you go to find somebody to help you deconstruct WT lies? There were books out there, but how many people found them? It was much harder then.
