do we apostates fall into the same trap as jehovahs witnesses when it comes to blinding ourselves to the truth?.

how often have i confronted jws with overwhelming evidence that the so called signs of the times are simply not being fulfilled in our day only for them to bring up some barely relevant snippet of information, which, to them, shoots my argument down in flames?

it is incredible how jws can ignore the camel of evidence that contradicts what they believe and then exult over the gnat of evidence that supports their view.

No, no I wouldent. If I were a Witness I wouldent disown them because i'd have to treat them as though they were dead. When I see them coming down the street i'd cross to the other side. When I see them passing by and they look at me i'd turn away from them as quick as possible. And total strangers would be welcome in my house but the people who i grew up with i'd have to keep them outside where they belong whith the all the other wicked agents of satan where they belong. Oh and hang up if they ever decide to call.

I dont think that you now what it is you're talking about. I was once in those shoes not to long ago. Thinking that the Watchtower wasent all that bad.

I dont coerce people to what I want them to do with threats of impending world wide calimity at the hand of God almighty.

I dont allow little boys and girls be baby sit by pediophiles and force people who know whats going on and want to save the poor litte lambs to keep quiet if they know whats good fort them.

I don't threaten anybody with death at the hands of God almighty if they question my authority.

What is the most unBiblical teaching of the JWs?

it has been said that the jws hold to many beliefs that are unnsupported scripturally and inforce many 'unwritten' rules which they refer to as 'principles'.. i would like to start off the thread with what i think is the most important unbiblical teaching that they need to promote inorder to exist.. the watchtower teaches that "a prophet is able to make mistakes while he is speaking for god and still be considered as true.

mind you that these are not slips of the tounge but doctrines and predictions that have been promoted for years and have only been modified only after the watchtower had no choice but to change them.. this in my opinion is the most unscriptural teaching that the watchtower promotes.

if it werent for this teaching then the watchtower would most definately have to be marked as a false prophet!

This in my opinion is the most unscriptural teaching that the Watchtower promotes. If it werent for this teaching then the Watchtower would most definately have to be marked as A False Prophet! in light of the many times that the World failed to come to a scretching hault when they said that God was going to intervene and kill all the wicked non-Witnesses of this system of things.

The Witnesses even may trivilaize the importance of false prophecy indetermining the vadility of a true evanglist inorder to minimize the dissonance it creates in light of the 'inferred infallibility' of the Watchtower doctrines.

The JW goes to extreme lenghts creating all kinds of implausible situations in which the Apostles have supposedly erred in prophesying for God. Two well known examles of which would be the

1) "Instance when Nathan told King David that he would build the temple to house the Arc of the Covenant" and

2) The 'Uncertainty of the apostles in having the Gentiles circumsized inorder to enter the Church.'

On close examination of these and many other instances which the witness tries to make the prophets of God look incompetent, the logic of the JWs with reguards to false prophesy falls to peices.

A true prophet does not realize that he has been mistaken in giving an opionion only after his prediction has proven false but God corrects him before any prediction is proven to be in error. Is this the case with the Watchtowers' predictions?

Imagine what would be the consequences if he dident? God could not then be trusted.

No amount of mental gymnastics can cope with the judgement of Deuteronomy 18:20-22.

That was just to start the ball rolling.

Care to add any other non scriptural teachings to the list?

Now that my eyes are opened to what a JW actually is, I want a 2nd opionion.

Because, really you should never hear just one side of the story. Even thought the Watchtower is full of nonsense i would still like to get an insiders view on what JWs think of and feel about the world.

The internet is definetly going to be a thorn in the tyrannical paw of the Watchtower Scoiety but its only usefull as long as people know where to look for good unbiased information.

When I first started to look I found it very difficult to find clear unbiased and objective information about the JWs. It always had very bitter overtones. That I think is going to be a problem. It is only after that I found freeminds that I actually got some good info and found this messagebard. And even then it was still very biased.

But all of that has changed and I know better now, I wont be joining the kult any time soon.

But imagine if I dident have the internet what may have happened?

No wonder thay say its evil.

do they "mystically manipulate"people joining them?.

im inclined to say they dont.. they are almost unique in this.. practically every cult ive joined, i could recite a litany of manipulation techniques applied to me during my joining process.. the dubs study with people, systematically, unemotionally.. noone else does this in my experience.. people who join the dubs join under "intellectual conviction".. do you agree with this view or not??.

im most curious to hear opinions on this.

This brings to mind a quote from the movie Witnesses of Jehovah:

I personally am beginning to implement an innoculation programme against the Watchtower.

Those people need to be stopped. And i'm going to put myself on their list of do not calls it they get to close to me.

Amazing said that he knows of cases where studies have been shunned as apostates because they ask too many questions.

I am such a one. I was studying with a girl at school when I went on the internet and got some info about them and asked them about it. Then one day the girl that was studying with me just said good bye and hasent spoken to me sinse.

I see her every day at school and she looks away everytime she sees me coming and has absolutely nothing to do with me.

This religion is sick and it has to be stopped.

I shure as hell am going to do my part to warn people about them before they get hooked.

Do they minapulate people.

Hell yes.

They have lied to me to my face and one of them has shunned me.

If people get their hands on a fraction of the information that I have before they get caught, Watchtower aint getting no more new converts from about here.

i would just like to thank everyone for the excellent posts that have appeared here on this site.

i esp would like to thank simon for making this possible.

i sincerely believe that the "net thang" will continue to play a role in helping jw who are sincerely searching for a confirmation that all their doubts and wondering over the years was not the result of them being spiritually weak.

hello all... i came across this line of questioning many months on the inet so i decided that i would submit just this once to peer pressure and make a usefull contribution to the board.. here is the question... is jesus just "a god?".

many of the regular inet surfers would have come across this line of questioning before so if you have you could just sit back and relax and read the replys.. <><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><>.

me: so is he a 'lesser true god' or a 'lesser false god?'.

The are are many gods but there is only one true God.

The Bible lists many gods, but there is only one true God.

It is just that easy.

All the other gods that the Bible lists are Always rediculed as being false, there is nowhere in the Bible where you will find a god other than the one true God, that is not labeled false.

I would like to know after revewing all the evidence given for the deity of Christ in this thread if anyone could mount a reasonable argument to suggest a translation other than "the word was God".

I dont see how at this point how anyone could disagree.

Jesus = God

other wise

Jesus = False god

Because if you are not the one true God you are a false god.
How much more simpler can it get.

They Came Back!

i just thought that i'd inform the board that they decided to come back after all.. right now i have to do something so i'll fill in the details later tonight.. the guy dident come back though.

it was only the lady and her daughter.. let me tell you, it was absolutely pointless.

except for one thing.. they were surprised about the un thing, but other than that nothing mattered.

I just had to add this:

Its really hard to know that you are absolutely 100% right about something and have people call you a liar.

You tell them that you have proof and that youre not lying and when you show them they dismiss it or dont get your point.

Its even worse when they look down on you when in actuallity its you that are trying to help them.

Its not enough that they disagree with you but they have to get all condesending and begin to privately redicule you.

Thats whats really fustrating.

If I can learn to cope with that kinda attitude i'll be a better man.
