Thank you , really enjoyed reading your summary. Understanding history is so important, the GB would love new ones to remain ignorant of everything except their own revisionist version

The FIVE exciting Watchtower Presidential Eras
by Dogpatch incharles t. russell era (1879-1916)date: late 1800's.
okay, july 1879 if you want to be picky.. current religious views: many apocalyptic leanings, prompting the origin of several major eclectic religious groups claiming that god had rejected the mainstream christian churches for their apostasy in the fourth century, and that he has now chosen a new prophet, a spokesman, a faithful messenger to re-educate the world as to the truths of the bible, long-lost and unattainable by any normal human being.
to gain eternal life, man must listen to the new gospel of this messenger(s).. this century sees the birth of the church of jesus christ of latter-day saints (mormons), adventism and its various offshoots (including jehovah's witnesses), christian science, christadelphians and other smaller groups, each one claiming a modern-day prophet and new or once-forgotten revelations to the populace, many of whom we find shopping for new ideas, yet disenchanted with the churches.. scenario: a young man who can't understand theology from a historical development point of view begins to feel that he is the "seventh messenger" (rev.

Letter to the Society
by serenitynow! inso my mom is die-hard jw despite disagreeing with some teachings from the gb.
we were talking today about the generation thing, and she told me the generation teaching was inconsequential.
i told her how as a child i thought it was huge that the end would come before the 1914 people died.

I think you are right to be cautious. What age is she? What would be the costs & benefits of being df'd at this time in her life? I don't think it is such a simple call, only you can judge it for best

Since the bible does not contain a consistent or coherent message on any subject, all attempts to assert what it does or does not teach is futility

Very funny observations - so many memories
despite being alone, that standard introduction was so entrenched in our physique that we would inadvertently say, “Hello there, my friend and I”… there would then be an interesting pause whilst the householder, somewhat intrigued, would look from left to right wondering just where the devil this friend was

heck out the top-right corner of page 3 with a young TJ giving a talk. Beside Ted is a chart of field service statistics
So pleased to see that, I clearly remember one in our KH when I was a lad. It was right at the front of the hall and looked exactly like the one in the brochure.
I remember hall cleaning one evening and the congregation overseer (pre-elder days) was pasting up the latest numbers. It was totals for all publishers for the whole congregation. Pioneers were separate which could be embarrassing for our only 2 pioneers if they had a rubbish month.

What made Jesus' followers believe that Jesus rose from the dead?
by John Kesler inwhat made some of jesus' followers believe that jesus rose from the dead?
my best guess--and as e.p.
sanders says, we really don't know--is that jesus' followers--distraught, sad, and disillusioned--had visions in what we now call altered states of consciousness, a condition that can be induced by fasting, sleep deprivation, and fatigue.

Here is a typical example ...
Sai Baba appeared in physical form in Stephen Turoff's Spiritual Healing Clinic in Dawnbury, close to London. Sai Baba gave Darshan (sight of a holy man) to the patients in the waiting room and then healed a diabetes patient before he wrote the words "Stephen I am with you" on a wall in the treatment room. Sai Baba then dematerialized his body. Only in 1969 did Sai Baba actually leave India, in the usual sense, boarding a plane for Uganda.

Masses of religious people willing to testify that they witnessed something miraculous is not a compelling reason to believe.
Check out the claims made by the followers of Sathya Sai Baba at the amazing "Gallery of Miracles" website

He should be arrested and put on trial, he is complicit in covering up decades of abuse and the oppression of victims. The evidence against him is very compelling
