That was fascinating and a good analogy. I actually found the faster I scanned the words the easier it was to read

Do you miss God?
by wobble inif you are one of the posters on here who has got to the point where you do not believe in god to any great extent, do you miss "him".
i find that i rarely used to ask god for anything, or load him up with my problems, everybody elses were far more urgent, but i did used to feel moved to praise him when i saw the beauties of creation, a sunset etc.. i now feel an urge to still do that, but do not believe anyone is listening, do you get moments like that ?.
love.

Song Book changes - the 'real' reason behind them - EYE OPENING
by EndofMysteries init's very interesting comparing things that are removed.
for one, new world order and new world, new order, all being eliminated from everything.

Lady Lee, each new songbook takes Jesus out more and more.
You really are right about that. I was a very loyal MS when the 1984 book came out and I hated it. A few years later I read through many of the old song books in the KH library right back to the "Hymns of the Millennium Dawn" it stood out so much that praise of Jesus had gradually disappeared.
The changes in the new book are disgusting

Assembly/Convention Rules
by IMHO injust been reading the resurrected topic "remember when assemblies were fun".. bought back some good memories particularly regarding the 'holiday camps'.. i was going to add this but decided it warranted it's own topic.. the 'good times' have been replaced by incessant rules.
here is a selection from the last circuit assembly i attended.
please feel free to add to the list.. .

Gee...we don't have many rules like that here in Ireland... but we're lax in most things
haha I Think it was Dara O'Briain who said there were three types of behaviour in Ireland
1. "Thats very good there well done"
2. "Be careful now"
3. "Now your taking the pi$$"
No offence intended to anybody but I really disliked "Attendants" at conventions, they seemed to spend all day tutting and shaking their heads. I remember an incident like Undercover related. I was having an important conversation with a friend outside the entrance to the assembly hall and a young attendant came up waving a piece of paper in our face and asked "Do you know the session has started?" I said "Yes" and turned my back and carried on. It turned out to be my last assembly

This reference from The Telegraph is a year old but it illustrates the problem.
A recent poll of science teachers found that one in three believe creationism should be taught in science classes alongside evolution and the Big Bang theory of the origin of the universe.
However, Michael Reiss, a biologist and Anglican cleric, was forced to resign as the Royal Society's director of education after suggesting that creationism should be discussed in lessons "not as a misconception but as a world view".
Speaking at the British Association Festival of Science at the University of Liverpool last year, Professor Reiss estimated that about one in 10 children was from a family which supported a creationist rather than evolutionary viewpoint.
He said his experience had led him to believe it was more effective to include discussion about creationism alongside scientific theories, rather than simply giving the impression that such children were wrong.
In Dawkin's documentary "The Root of all Evil" the same attitude was evident among the science teachers he spoke to. They felt it was not their place to tell the children of religious families that their belief in creationism was wrong. I think they ought find another job.
