Thank you for the comments this took a little longer to do due to a family virus right in the middle which meant nursing took priority over drawing. Now to get him printed and framed ready for August. The problem now is what to do next. Need something with a good contrast and lot's of texture. Any ideas gratefully received.

The packages will arrive today... What do you think will happen?
by Faithful Witness ini have decided that ignoring my niece and nephew during the holidays, is the most unloving thing i could possibly do.
they stopped celebrating christmas and birthdays, after my sister began studying with jw's about 6-7 years ago.
we did not celebrate either, until 3 years ago, when my son was 2 and my daughter was 4, and we'd figured out that the jw's are wrong about this decision.

Sadly for JWs everything is about them, they may keep the gifts and let the children have them when they arrive rather than at Christmas but it will not occur to them to send a thank you. This is something I was pulled up on very soon after my exit and I now am fastidious about thanking people.
For JWs so much thought is given to working out what is allowed and what isn't, what is a compromise, how it affects their standing in the congregation, how other people will interpret their actions that there is no time left to consider the feelings of the giver.
If you wish to give gifts and can afford to do so then continue. Your contact will let the children know that there is someone outside for them and that is priceless.

So sorry to hear about your loss. It is such a shock to loose a sibling especially in such circumstances. Will be thinking of you.

Ever read back your own posts and thinking WTF?
by DeWandelaar inas time goes forward people tend to change... expecially if you get out of a cult.
your brain for some reason gets de- and reprogrammed and you get other insights and new opinions.
you become a other human.. when reading back some of my previous posts (of about a year ago) i could not help but have a wtf-moment... i even felt a sudden way of "shame" of all the bullshit i was writing.. if you want to read some of mine just check my posts of about a year back.

1973 "Divine Victory" International Assemblies
by Bungi Bill inhow many here attended the "divine victory" international assembly that was held 12- 16 december in christchurch, new zealand?.
the venue was lancaster park.
if the truth be known, that stadium was probably a casualty of the february 2011 earthquake?.

Christmas - love it or leave it?
by Xanthippe ini am just watching my neighbours across the road putting up christmas lights while their children run around bursting with excitement.
i am feeling all christmassy now.
can't wait for my daughter to come home from uni next weekend so we can go and buy a tree from the garden centre.

My children look forward to Christmas they love the excitement and our family traditions. The stockings are handmade because I couldn't go out and buy decorations the first year as we didn't have the money. I do stockings for Christmas morning but the children prefer that they are left downstairs rather than at the end of the bed.
Christmas is a time to create happy family memories and share times together. It doesn't have to be overly fussy it is the freedom to chose to celebrate that is important.

Do You Dine out? If so do you return unsatisfactory food?
by KateWild ini was chatting today in the sauna, as one does if you don't go to meetings about dining out.
one pleasant fellow said he would never return food, he explained it was because he is convinced the staff would do something to the food.. do you agree?.
kate xx.

I have returned food when it has been unsatisfactory or when it has not been as described. I find if the complaint is valid and you are clear about what you want done to resolve the issue there is no problem. If you do not get angry but remain polite then there is really no cause for afront.

Swimming and the gym has replaced Sunday meetings
by KateWild inwe went swimming today, and joined up in the gym.
we will go every week on a sunday, and i will go alone twice a week.
i found it particularly easy to get involved with the other gym members in the suana, or playing with our kids in the pool.. we had a really great time, we even had reading time by the pool.

He is in a period of adjustment so it will take time. As he becomes accustomed to the new routine he will relax and may be more willing to chat. It may also be that he is happy to listen whilst you interact with others at the moment.
What is important is that there is something to do and somewhere to go that does not rely on attending a meeting in a kingdom hall.
