- has anyone else been in this scenario, and what did you say at your jc that ensured the right action was taken.. they asked me how i felt about my relationship with jehovah - i simply said, i dont feel anything since i dont have one.

i dont pray, i dont study, and i dont show much interest.

I admire that approach as well. In my case, I definitely didn't want to be df'd but I was also not prepared to grovel or lie about anything. So when they asked me if I regretted my actions, I told them that in my opinion regret is a futile and negative emotion that I don't allow myself - learning from mistakes is much more important than wallowing in them....I think they didn't like that too much because their faces turned to stone and I knew right then that I had no shot at ducking the outcome. I also called them to task for ignoring me for a year and a half and offering zero spiritual help when I stopped attending meetings and it would seem that they didn't take too kindly to that either!

so my sister and i are flying across the pond to stay in london for christmas and new year's.

we'll be staying at a house in lambeth thanks to my sister having applied for a house sitting gig - we'll be looking after 2 cats while the home owners are away.

yay for free accomodations!!.

I wanted to send a great big THANKS to everyone above for all of the London advice. My sister and I had a fabulous holiday, mostly sticking to walking around and soaking in the history. The British Museum was fab and thanks to SweetPea for the Barbican tip - we took in a couple of movies and that place is awesome! I'd also like to highly recommend the Roxy Bar & Screen to those of you who live in London - it's on Borough High Street near the George Inn. It's quite unassuming but a great place to chill with a pint or cocktail. The people there are fun to chat with and I just loved the atmosphere.

I'll refer back to this thread for my next trip so that I can take advantage of more suggestions, as the weather did hamper us a bit and with the holiday season a lot of places were closed. I'm really looking forward to going back and it's looking good for a couple of weeks in August (yay!).

prayer.. billions of people have been praying for hundreds of years for peace.

other billions pray for happiness for mankind.

not one evidence exists that he hears or that he cares.. can anyone provide solid evidence that god answers prayers.

Facebook condemned

my wife told me that at the last meeting, the elders announced that youngsters going to the skateboarding park were no longer to have any privileges in the congregation.

this is to prevent jw youngs to be rounded up if a drug raid was made at the skateboarding park.. also because of individuals requesting that they be friends on facebook that contain bad pictures, that anyone with a facebook account will automatically have their privileges removed.. sounds like the pharasees protecting the people by adding additional traditions upon them.. .

I'm kind of surprised that it's taken this long for them to crack the whip. On my facebook account I have df'd people and amongst their friends are faders who have active JW's as friends. Blows my mind in a way because the actives are so close to associating with df'd ones by virtue of the faders - seeing their activity, wall postings, pictures and everything...and we all know how nasty that can get - I'm totally expecting a semi official announcement that anyone with a facebook account is not to be considered good association, or words to that effect. Gotta love those Pharisees!

wow! I'm so overwhelmed with all of these amazing suggestions. I think I'll need at least month instead of a week to take them all in....hmmm have to see what I can do about that.
