hoser - good point and I have done that. The only reason I'm not dfed is because I presented all sorts of articles and information, (intended for bible studies and not for watchtower studies) and the elders had only 2 choices at that point. A. Admit and claim that the WT and GB are lying and being deceptive. B. That those 'other' articles are true and I am not doing anything wrong (then they don't have to admit the WT is lying, but can't take action on me).

JW.org is a DIFFERENT religion from the WT and Kingdomhall
by EndofMysteries inhas anybody else noticed the huge 180 degree under the public jw.org vs the material in the study articles?
other than jw.org showing that shunning of family and those who left the religion does not happen, yet in the kingdomhall and wt is does happen.
look at jwborgs stance on quitting school and getting higher education.... http://www.jw.org/en/bible-teachings/family/teenagers/ask/quit-school/ can anybody show one wt that says what is in the borg website?

One thing that puzzles me is that previous lawsuits had been tossed out (shunning, practices, etc) because the courts said that the religion has a right to set it's own doctrine and laws/bylaws and if it follows it's own rules nothing can be done about it.
Why have those lawsuits not been challenged showing the WT is breaking it's own laws/bylaws but showing the 'public' version of it's rules?
The person can say they joined based upon the presented information, or a born in can say they read the articles about checking everything and not being shunned/family is family no matter what, etc, then the courts would see they have printed double versions of everything with opposite outcomes so they can pick and choose how they please.

A question JW's cannot answer (also need help)
by Matt_fs inman, its been years since i posted on here.
when i was in deep discussion with my very close jw friend, this forum helped me tremendously, so thank you all for your help and knowledge.. many years ago i went to my jw friends house with one sheet of paper with my notes and questions.
i had him stumped and he said he would get back to me (which he never did).. anyways, many years have passed without even discussing anything and just the other day he brought it up and wanted to see what he couldn't answer.

Click on your name in the upper right hand corner of the screen, then click on "topics posted on" or "topics started". I did that to your name and saw 8 years ago a topic on the trinity and other topics as well. My bet is that one of those is what you are looking for.

" Similarly, if you quit school, you will likely find it more difficult to get a job. And if you do get one, it will probably be lower paying than one you might have obtained if you had completed your schooling." " A primary function of education is to prepare you to find a job that will help you support yourself and provide for any family you may eventually have. "
I guess they are using the jwborg website to do a big BAIT AND SWITCH. On the website, "Don't worry, we don't practice shunning that is all lies. And no matter what, family is always family no matter what! Don't worry, we don't discourage higher education, that's a big lie, we actually ENCOURAGE a good college education, etc".
Then once in the KH, "Don't even THINK of emailing your poor sick mother because she left the truth and must be treated as if dead!... You are thinking of getting a college education? Meet us in the back room after the meeting, we need to discuss your faith in the faithful slave and how close we are to the end. You shouldn't be wasting time getting schooling when the end is so close!"

Quakers/Amish are respectable in this sense. They live by what they preach. They don't contribute and they don't take, they take care of themselves.

The government should TAX the WT for the social services spent on JW's.
by EndofMysteries insince there is an abundant supply of literature where the gb tell members not to get education, not to plan for retirement, not to worry about their health, all vs doing more literature peddling, perhaps the government should stick a monthly bill to the wt for the social services, retirement, welfare, medicaid, etc, that is being spent on members because of their insisting that they don't take care of themselves and plan for the future.
.
how quickly would 'new light' come that each member should plan for retirement, should get good schooling, etc??

Billions of money saved, ALL poor elderly jw's to get free care and housing
by EndofMysteries inover the years the surplus from donations have been put into risky investments and each of them blessed with growth and profit beyond comprehension.
all aging and elderly jw's who had sacrificed their retirement planning and financial future for the kingdom work, who had not been expecting to live to this age, shall have full care including room and board for the rest of their lives or until 'the end'.
- if god was directing that organization, then that's something that i'd expect to see.

sarahsmile - yes many churches do provide financial support for their members. If a member or family has an emergency, such as I know of one where their home was hit by a sinkhole and the church had a fundraiser for them. I also that church has a yearly budget and part of it is if members have financial emergencies and if not used then goes to their yearly missions fund or another charitable purpose.

The Real Reason For No More Bookstudies.
by ctrwtf inso i was just thinking about my days at wtf and driving out for book study when it dawned on me.. bethelites are given a stipend for travel based on nyc public transportation.
depending on how you pay let's just call it a $5.00 round trip.. if you drive your care you're also reimbursed for mileage at the standard irs rate.
let's round that down to .50 per mile.. if four bethelites get in a car and drive an average of 30 miles to the (former) bookstudy the society is spending 4x$5.00 for the stipend plus and additional $30.00 for mileage.

The real reason? The same time they discontinued bookstudies, they also removed the ability to do research and create a talk based solely upon the bible reading, the #2 talk, and reserved the number 3 or 4 for MS and elders.
My conclusion is that bookstudies allowed too much thought and discussion. They took that away so it's brief in KH comments, the #2 talk for just reading the bible so any comments and ideas on the reading are directly from the GB in the guide given to elders and MS, etc.
Same reason public talks area also prescripted.
Don't think, just listen, obey, and be blessed.

If you are on that forum, or anybody for that matter, I'd like to see a thread inquiring if others feel like it may be idolatry, etc.
