The Scarlet Colored Wild Beast and Gorbachev
by jgnat inthe insanity continues this week, with the study of the revelation book and the continued application of revelation 17 to the "anglo-american power" and the united nations.
we're on chapter 35. i think i've been assigned study duty because these obscure connections fly well over poor hubby's head.
what twigged my interest this week is reference to a "prominent leader of the former soviet union" who "joined the popes in rome" in expressing support for the un.

The Most Insane Thing Ever Printed by the Watchtower?
by Leolaia ini found this while perusing through old golden ages at the new york public library.
it is so patently ridiculous and offensive, i thought i'd just post the thing without comment.

Who are those young JW SKINHEADS ?
by aligot ripounsous inat the latest circuit assembly, i noticed that quite a few young male jws (or at least attending youths), say sixteen upward and mostly mixed race, are skin headed.
apart from that, they are quite well dressed.
that way, elders won't reprove them for their long hair ... looks like an obvious defying message to a rigid organization.

I have a young relative who does this, he was blessed with a receding hairline in his early 20's. It is a good look for him.

I think an undercover apostate was sitting near me at the meeting this afternoon
by hoser inthis brother was sitting near me today at the hall and when the public speaker started talking about the signs of the last days this guy started whispering something to his wife and kind of mocking the speaker in a quiet voice.
his wife looked really pissed off.. i've suspected this guy before by some of the stuff he's said and done and some of the #3 talks hes given he's gone off the assigned topic quite a bit.. during the wt study i was doing mics and i happened to walk by him several times.
his wt was on the floor and his bible was opened to topic for conversation at the end of the bible at the last days part.. a little while later his wife gave him the look and said something to him and he picked up his unprepared wt and followed along.. hoser.

When it's your time to go...............
by Night Owl inif you believe "when it's your time to go, it's your time to go" then cause of death does not matter.
plane crash, school shooting, accident, war, or anything else.. if you have this mind set, then any event resulting in a human death is just fulfilling a pre-determined destiny for that human.. you also cannot pick and choose as to which event, or rather, death, is in the "when it's your time to go, it's your time to go" scheme of things or not.. nightowl.

So you shouldn't eat a healthy diet or excersise because you will die anyway? You should go into dicey neighborhoods after midnight because if its not your time you wont die?
Explain yourself.

I'm not trying to brag, but being an EXJW is awesome!!! Status Update-
by Coffee House Girl inhello jwn!
i don't get to check in here or comment as often as i would like because i have been working so hard at school...but i just have to share my news in hopes that newbees can see that taking the leap to enroll in higher education is worth it-.
i am graduating this spring with a bachelor degree in art history, minor anthropology...many people (including nonjw's have given me flack for choosing a "dead end" career path) but since leaving the watchtower organization's group-think mentality and "leaning on my own understanding" instead... i decided to say fuck everyone else's opinion...i am going to pursue my passion to work in a museum as a curator or archivist-.

Baptisms only at regional ( district ) assemblies from 2014 / 15 service year?
by dozy injust a rumour but i guess it makes sense - i've a friend on a circuit committee ( he knows it's not "the truth" but for family & work reasons he stays in ) & he says that the wtbts have told them not to book a swimming pool for next years one day assemblies as the plan is to have only one baptism a year at the main regional ( what they used to call "district" ) convention.. with the drop off in baptisms so that sometimes there isn't anyone baptised or just a handful , i guess this is inevitable.
i remember going to a baptism a few years ago - we had hired a municipal 25 metre swimming pool and only one person ( a rather confused and scared middle aged lady who hadn't been in a swimming pool since her youth ) was being baptised - it was all something of a farce with the "worldly" staff looking on very puzzled at such an elaborate & expensive ceremony for one person.
) also with both assemblies being one day with just short morning & afternoon sessions , i suppose it is sensible to ditch the baptism talk - it tends to be something of a snoozefest anyway at the end of the morning session.

When the Catholic church baptises adults they generally wait till Easter season. If there are good reasons they will opt to do it during the year, but mostly during Holy week (the week prior to Easter). Once a year. And with classes for several months before. The witnesses are getting more like the Catholics as they go along.

I just go to search if I have an idea of who and a subject in particular. It isn't always the best way to do it. If I bookmark a page that impressed me that helps sometimes.
You can get to "Best of " in jehovahs-witness.com but I always come back to .net because I know my way around here. Simon will fix it. It will take some time because he actually has a real job and family.
