Snowbird, I just LOVE your translation of the Bible! I've meant to tell you many times. The scriptures really come to life! I know you've mentioned it before, but could you repeat what version that is?

Yes, Leavingwt. By the word afterlife I meant anything humans can long for (including your virgins, if that's what makes you happy, JWoods. Ha, ha...). I wish Santa Claus existed as well... So the question is: Would any of you say NO to an afterlife if you had the option? I don't suppose any human being would reject to continue to live in whatever paradise, heaven or nirvana comes to our mind. So, let's face it, we do a little like the fox and the grapes (is that fable well known in the States, or just a Spanish thing?).

The Revolving Door to Eden
by compound complex ini was not born in eden, but close to its entrance.. a little boy's eyes can take in big, wonderful things.
he does not fathom their complexity nor why celestial chambers of exquisite delight open wide before his uncomprehending gaze.
he is drawn by his heart to what the cosmos have destined him to possess.

How I wish you'd send me a photograph of you, Compound Complex!
You wouldn't do that for me, would you? To my personal email...
Don't worry if you feel you can't. I'll like you just the same..

Sayitsnotso is in a way right though, don't you think guys? That certainty we all enjoyed of living forever to our full potential was so satisfying and filled us with so much hope that it was fairly easy to relativize our problems in this world... We must admit the possibility of this life being all there is after all doesn't fill us with elation precisely, does it? Having said that, I fully agree with Donny: never had I enjoyed this present life as much as I do now that I have understood this may be it. Also with Leavingwt: there's plenty to live for. Still, it would be so marvellous if there really was an afterlife, wouldn't it?
By the way, welcome to the board, Sayitsnotso!
(Don't be too hard on me, guys...)

I feel less and less like an ex-jw every day.
by Growingup ini've had so much anger and depression over the last 6 years.
when i left the b0rg i replaced people i hardly knew with my family... i had so many psychological problems then and when those relationships failed i turned to drugs, self harm through burning and cutting and even was hospitalized a few times because i tried to kill myself.
i was in and out of toxic relationships with people who i thought i needed to complete me as a person.. about two years ago i hit another 'rock bottom' in my life and was drinking and using cocaine and was completly cycling in another jw's guilt pity party.

Jehovah and the Munchausen Syndrome
by Terry inwhat is munchausen by proxy syndrome?.
one of the most harmful forms of child abuse, munchausen by proxy syndrome was named after baron von munchausen, an eighteenth-century german dignitary known for telling outlandish stories.
a parent will induce illness or injury in their own child and then take the victim in to the hospital to be seen as the heroic savior.. typically, the perpetrator feels satisfied when he or she has the attention and sympathy of doctors, nurses, and others who come into contact with him or her and the child.. because the parent or caregiver appears to be so caring and attentive, often no one suspects any wrongdoing.. .

Does Hispanic mean Mestizo?
by donny inwith all the hoopla going on in arizona, i have been hearing a lot of comments about the state of arizona being racists against "hispanics".
i always thoght hispanic meant someone whose promary language was spanish or in some cases portugese.
has the word hispanic come to mean only mestizo's (people of mixed european and amerindian ancestry)?.

Hello, everybody!
As the most Hispanic of all (born and raised in Spain), but with an arian look (weird, isn't it? - German grandmother), I remember how surprised I was at the look on people's face in the U.S.A. whenever I said I was Spanish. After a few days I realized the reason was that I didn't fit into the prototype you guys have of what we look like. So I ended up saying, "I come from Spain", instead of "I'm Spanish". Ins't it strange? Actually, quite a few of us in my country have blond hair, blue eyes and light skin, walking the same streets as the dark-skinned, dark-haired, brown-eyed Spanish beauties (no flowers in their hair, though, sorry).
