Old time JW's did some very devout JW's refuse to eat pizza with pepperroni because they believed "blood" was in the pepperroni?
by booker-t ini have never heard this before until i read a life story of an ex-jws and how some jws in the past refused to eat pepperoni pizza because they thought blood was in pepperoni.
i do know some elderly jw sisters would complain about eating steak if it bled while cooking.
has anybody else heard of this pizza nonsense?.

Can a JWs Elder be "removed" if his wife is known as the congregation "gossip"?
by booker-t ini remember in my kingdom hall one of our 5 elders bro.
"smith" had a gossipy wife sis "smith" who would be known to gossip from the time she enter the hall until she left.
i don't know how she never was reproved or counseled for her gossiping.

by sir82 inmore haphazard thougths on the recently concluded elder school..... a big chunk of time was spent on a video which traced a judicial case, all the way from the confession to the elders through the decision to disfellowship the guy.. here is a very brief synopsis of the video:.
tearful late-teen or early-20's publisher confesses to 2 elders that he committed fornication with a "worldly girl" who is now preganant and wants to marry him.
the elders give him some "homework" to do prior to his judcial committee - read psalm 51 and an old wt article.

I so agree with Hortensia...a child has been conceived, and there are two people who made that baby. Both are responsible and both have to make decisions. The pregnant mother needs the support of the baby's father mentally, emotionally and financially most likely...they have to work out the situation as a couple and not with some ridiculous pharisaical rules regulations and prohibitions hanging over either of their heads.
The father needs to be there, a part of that babys development, birth and childhood into adulthood..........and i have seen cases where they disfellowship the kids, and won't let them get married until they get reinstated and what do you have?!? a poor young woman doing it all by herself through the pregnancy - having family support if she's lucky - but where is the father of the baby?!??! so WRONG.
i would prefer that my son not impregnate until he is in a committed and lasting relationship - but if he did make a baby prematurely, it still is his responsibility - and he needs to man up and take care of things - and no religion needs to be insinuating themselves in his decision-making process.

what a colossal waste....for what? to have a number to add to a list?!?! like in the grand scheme of things it means anything..........seriously...it's so warped and while you are stuck in it you really take it for real......unbelievable................you're a witness - you're in the grocery store and see some worldly person you know and smile and say hi.....whoppeeeee.....there's your 15 minutes and they know you are a JW so that counts as a RV too!!!!

i cook practically exclusively with olive oil. i do use butter for a base for a roux...and for spreading on bread....i am through with canola oil once i learned that it is basically poison. i really give precedence to the mediterranean diet style. deep fat fried stuff is better with corn oil, but that i a very very rare thing in our house.

WT Elders school: Avoid black and white thinking - now look at this zebra
by sir82 incontinuing on with my haphazard review of the recent one-day elders school..... in one of the introductory talks, the co was making the point that we can't view things merely from a black and white perspective.
many issues have "shades of gray" and we need to use discernment in such situations.. and i'm thinking "finally!
maybe he will continue on to make an actual, reasonable point!".
