i've heard of some putting stickers in literature (before it's published).. i was thinking of dropping a few in the donation box (when i visit my elderly mother i sometimes go to the meeting).. what would be a good note?.

What You May Have Missed While You Were Away
by OldGenerationDude inafter conversing with a few folks on this board, it came to my attention that a lot of what i've been writing sounds very foreign to a lot of people.
the reason is simple, really.. after talking with some of you here, i have come to realize that i am really from a very different era of the watchtower than a lot of you are.
i have much to learn from you guys (like i still can't figure out how anyone got that overlapping-generation fluff to pass-in my day we probably would have burned as a witch anyone who even dared suggest such a thing as "true doctrine" among the witnesses).. some have mentioned to me how what i've written about sounds "foreign" or even fabricated...that is until they look it up for themselves.

How Do JWs View Gluttony?

in my county, some of our appointed brothers and sisters are suffering from obesity, eating disorders and heavy drinkings.
what is the best way to approach brothers in charge, who are morbidly overweight, don't care about their physical appearance?

It can't be too big a problem, there are enough of them that are humungous..........by and large they are not health-conscious....except to whine and wail about how miserable they are and how they can't wait for the new world to be healed of it all....but things like diet, exercise, self-help are swept under the rug.......

LOVE LOVE LOVE ABBA!!!! HAted the Beatles - thought all those songs were just so inane..."I Wanna Hold Your Hand" for example....how dumb.
Can't stand Melissa Etheridge's hits....misses in my book - very annoying. Love Dido........Elton John, Neil Diamond, Bruce Springsteen, that big handsome dude......what's his name.....Michael Bolton. And Simply Red, Bryan Adams......many good ones out there............:)
Streisand had a wonderful voice...so did Celine Dion.........and Sarah McLachlan............

What would happen if a whole bunch of apostates attended a local one and all guzzled the wine heartily - and of course, there is only one bottle, so it would be gone after the 3rd apostate - and then what? A MS has to make a quick run to the local winery? Of course, it is pretty incomprehensible that all the matzos would get noshed down...but really - imagine the local bigshots sh!tting the proverbial brick. What WOULD they do?!?! ooops - wine all gone...can't pass around an empty glass now, can you?!?!
I do recall one of the last ones I went to...one of the dudes (a VERY self-important one) passing the emblems had the row with a df gentlemen who has heavenly aspirations. Well, the gentleman took his sip...and this dude was standing there watching him and laughing!! it was sick! i doubt if they "counted" him as a partaker, but even so...to stand there and obviously laugh at him was very very rude.

Timing of "thinner magazines" announcement
by sir82 inthe announcement of the reduced number of pages in the watchtower & awake will be made after the watchtower study following the "special talk" on april 8.. theoretically, that's when there will be more visitors and "outsiders" than usual.
even the talk itself has 1/2 of its content directed at inactive jws.. obviously this reduction in pages has been in the works for several weeks if not months.
why pick that date to announce it?

I really would like to know the rationale about having to make an announcement about an announcement about down-sized publications???? Why not just send them out when the time comes. Any other magazine doesn't give out notice that they are adopting a new format...they just go ahead and do it! And what is the big deal anyway....the writer's running out of dopey rehashes? Running low on ways to capture vulnerable minds? Strange strange corporate dealings.
