perfect1, I suspect what you said may have been exactly what they needed to hear - nothing more - nothing less.
It was brutally honest, whilst clearly inviting them to do the right thing, and then draw their own conclusions.
In more than 40 years of doorknocking not a single householder ever had anything useful to offer. Sometimes hostility, but always at a total loss when it came to articulating their issues in any meaningful shape or form.
Good on you.
That would have helped me.
In the end a simple question started my jailbreak which took three-and-a-half years: "What is the gospel in one word?"
I was profoundly struck by my ignorance of something so fundamental, and knew instantly someone had been hiding something important from me.
This kick-started a life changing and breathtaking research undertaking which became a one-way ticket out of the Watchtower, out of religion and into vibrant faith and spirituality.

The Watchtower's physical/religious/carnal/temporal perspective and focus on the "last days" appears to have had two main deleterious effects:
- apostate twisting and obscuring the true meaning of the "last days" and "Armageddon"
- apostate truncating the "Good News" down to a single ingredient (at least 29 key ingredients discarded)
Personally I have found that focussing on the "full Good News" or "unabridged gospel" alone, seems to permit the greatest spiritual awakening, empowerment and progress, whilst breaking addiction to a "ruling religious clergy class" and hierarchy (Pharisees aka elders, and Sanhedrin aka GB/FDS).

THE DIVORCE OF THE CENTURY!

i cant help but think of the many and i say many divorces (not to make light of the matter) that jw families have had to deal with among their ranks over the years.. however, knowing how long the wtbts and 1914 have been together and the thought of mother (wtbts) doing away with her man (1914) after nearly 100 years of marriage is truly heart breaking for some.
many old-timers probably still think of the old days when they were like any other happy couple; inseparable, always holding hands, romantic and the like.

I am doing research... but I need help!

some have wondered what other parts of the nwt were changed from the 1961 edition to the 1984 edition.
if there is a new nwt, it will have to be compared too.. please help me with this... what programs are out there to compare large texts such as these two nwt's?
