I've just checked the NWT (in the WT library) and found that the term "Governing Body" does appear in the WBT$ Bible - exactly 27 times! It is spelled or translated as "Sanhedrin"!

My wife's older brother raped her for 7 years from the age of 6 (several decades ago). This started when the family was recruited to the Watchtower, and was aided by their mother who also coached my wife to lie to a medical practitioner who became suspicious.
More recently his daughter has also been repeatedly raped but declines to identify by whom. He has been an elder for many years and continues to serve as such. When I put pressure on him to put matters right and stop my wife's mother from relentlessly and venomously blaming and attacking her for what they had done, he and his mother turned around and accused me of the incestuous rape of my daughter.
One can but wonder what sort of corruption and perversion he gets up to in star chamber JC hearings involving female victims of sexual abuse, or females who have had sex outside of marriage. I'll bet the offender somehow gets off every time and the victim sits with all the blame.
This is largely what the WBT$ is secretly all about. A pedophile paradise with most of the pedophiles in the ruling religious hierarchy where they are generously provided with all the power, authority and glory they need to continue plying their trade and "selling" their "services" to the weak, vulnerable and voiceless.
what saying made it all around the country?.
the ones that were passed around, word of mouth.. for example.
"donations basis proves jehovah is behind the work!".
"The brothers are not perfect" (to those that have been raped, defrauded, slandered or badly harmed by WBTS policy - as an inducement to sweep the matter under the carpet, or to avoid reporting the matter to the Police/authorities)
"It is better to be wrong with the GB/FDS/Society/Clergy than right on your own" (translation: it is better to eat at the table of demons with hypocrites, than at God's table on your own)

At one time most of us here identified as JWs who follow the WBTS GB/FDS who claim to follow the Bible etc. Some of us are journeying to a new identity, others may feel they already have a new identity.
Although we likely have gone in many different directions, we share a common past which only ex-members can really understand and explain. Please could we each respectfully share and celebrate our unique perspectives of where we have come from, and where we each are now at on this journey?

Here is how I understand my own journey:
Old identity: RBNS (Religious But Not Spiritual).
New identity: SBNR (Spiritual But Not Religious).
Although I always had concerns (even as a 3rd generation born-in) it remained difficult to really put a finger on it until the end of 2005 when the lights started coming on. Until mid 2009 when I walked out for good, I still naively believed that the WBTS was somehow legitimate but just in need of reform.
i've been thinking how correct the witnesses are regarding an aspect of xmas.
it is totally commercialized and it's big business and materialism.
having said that, i enjoy giving presents and recieving them.
Been thinking quite a bit about this lately.
I think most people would rather celebrate Christmas (Jesus) than religion.
This makes sense since it is religion/ists who had Jesus killed because he exposed them.
possibly this could happen in a dramatic sudden way or a slow burn but can you see the human race progressing to the point were they no longer need to belive in these myths and legends?.
Yes, I do believe Babylon the Great spiritual Harlot (aka religion) will come to nothing.
A Barna survey showed that almost 3 in 4 persons (in the USA) aged 18-29 saw themselves as more Spiritual than Religious.
reading comments on this forum makes me think about so many facets in understanding god's word and how he works.
i was very puzzled as to why djeggnog had so much trouble in trying to explain the difference between being guided by god's holy spirit and being inspired.

Hey Listener! I believe God speaks to ALL of us ALL the time. This is done in the spirit - outside our 5 senses. It would seem to be a matter of tuning in and discerning. This is done by hearing the full unabridged "good news", pursuing it and yielding to it. God then grants us repentance (awareness of dysfunction) and faith (a wide opening of our spiritual eyes). Without a spiritual awakening we have not yet tuned in and struggle to hear. Religion is designed to prevent such a spiritual awakening by getting us to walk by sight and flesh alone (our 5 senses). Religion is designed to steal our faith, salvation and personal relationship with our heavenly father through Jesus.
