And by the way, my draft number was 6, lucky me.

I'm talking toward the end of the draft when the draft boards were getting more lenient in classifications.
And on CO classification? A friend of mine was assigned to non-military duty by the courts. So you are right, "if" you were ordered to do it, it was okay to do the duty, but "if" you did it voluntary, you were disciplined??? (as he scratches his head in disbelief)

Blondie - Regarding draft status?
As one who had to fight with the draft board, this was my conclusion as well. The WTS felt there was a better chance of getting a 4 D (Minister status) than a CO. To get the 4D you had to be a Reg. Pioneer to be recognized as a Minister. Very tough to get the 4D if you were not Reg. Pioneering. Even Elder status would not guarantee 4D.
All my friends that Pioneered got there 4D, those who tried the CO route failed and went to prison.

The Sunday drama looks like a remake of one from the 70's.
Portrays a family that 'let' their kid follow worldy endeavors and lost him to Jerusalem's destruction. (Moral: Let you kids go to college and they will die a horrible death at Armageddon)

The longest talk?
A #2 bible reading assignment at the CA ministry school.
A friend of mine volunteered for someone who was sick and he talked for 15 minutes. 10 minute OT for a 5 minute talk? The TMS didn't 'ding' him to stop. Why? No idea.
Forgot to say: Why it felt so long. Because I was timing for him and couldn't believe he wouldn't stop. I tried to signal him at 1 min. then 2, then 3. I thought he would never end.

COC and Serenitynow - regarding meeting assigments?
In my case, the CO would request ahead of time ones he wanted to see or we thought could do a decent job. His purpose? He was trying to see who qualified to be used at the CA's and DC's.
I could see your point on how this could look. Showing off for the CO? Sure.

New Here - My First Rambling.
by SearchingForMe innewbie, born-in, 30+ yrs, still trying to decide what i believe since all my options are now open...i can say i no longer feel the need to follow men.... i've lurked here for quite a while and enjoyed the ramblings of many, so since i'm now a member here are some of my ramblings.. it makes me sad that so many people will continue to do something just because they feel they have too much time and/or energy invested to stop and make a course correction, even if they see it's leading nowhere or to an undesirable end.
it also saddens me how some people are so preprogrammed to follow what others say that they feel extremely uncomfortable changing their views, deep seated or not, even when presented with uncontrovertable evidence that their views are at best unproven, and at worst simply not possible or even plausible.. but i also realize, that just like in the sci-fi fantasy world of the matrix, some sheeple just are not mentally prepared to leave their fantasy world.
it works for them, and who am i to tell them how they should live.

Thanks for sharing some very nice thoughts.
I've been out for 13 years and still searching.....
But its a lot more fun to search without being so much judged.
Will be looking forward to hear more from you.

The longest prayer you had ever endured.
by african GB Member infrom personal experience i know it usually happens at the end of a district convention.
it would be either the do, co or an experienced elder.. they usually go through everything that was said throughout the dc and thank jehovah for this and that...... last year i used my stop watch to record the time taken by our do,.
by the time he said amen!

You know they are too long when people start to pass out from standing. Our old PO was just like yours or maybe we were in the same congregation? Nah...every KH has at least one of those gifted wind bags.

Very good Emma, very good.
Maybe the JW's can do something similar, but only in reverse. "We will make sure your pet doesn't eat you after the Big A"
