36 for me and I'm now 53, but I'm one of those that threw the baby out with the bathwater. Not only didn't the witlesses make sense, after while the bible made even less sense.

I am seriouly disapointed in the Watchtower society

i read in another thread about c. t. russells attitude that his 'studies in the scriptures' is better than the bible and come to the conclusion they are not god abandoned today, god was never there.. fast forward to modern times and they are still at it, likening their body of teachings as being part of the bible.. most of you already know the pasages in their own lit that i refer to, i'm just stating my feelings as i dismantle a 38 year old belief system.. it seems to me, that all along, the belief of the watchtower society is this: our writings are true, they are backed up by the bible.
rather than, the bible is true, backed up by our writings.. disapointed.

Its happening here too, don't kid yourself. Here the manhood is threatened through homosexuality, and fear of abortion. Wins elections for them. Seems its more important to bring those babies into the world than take care of them after they are here. Don't get me wrong, I'm not selling abortion, I'm just calling out the tactic.

I was socially isolated way past the point of "normal JW kids" while growing up, isolated small town where my dad was considered weak, so we were not associated with. My parents were fanatics and we were not allowed to speak to people outside school.
So consequentially I don't know how to talk to people, never understood chit chat too well. I try but its a major hamper in friend making.

Yea I lived with a day sleeper for quite awhile and it was hell to keep neighborhood kids from screaming in front of the house and people from knocking at the door. Put up a sign at eye level and no one sees it.

What people with compromised immune systems are reacting to includes a long list of toxic chemicals. Unlike the food industry, unlike any industry remotely connected to medicine, the perfume industry does not answer to ANYONE regarding carcinogens in their products, which include cleaning products in addition to perfumes, colognes, hand and body lotions, hair products, etc.
I have asthma. Perfume is a known trigger for me. They have also been known to give me migraines immediately. Not every single perfume does, but I don't feel a need to start a survey to ask which one it is that doesn't bother me.
My one question is, why do so many people feel the need to marinate in the stuff?

by babygirl30 inwhat bothers me most about df'ing is not only the shunning, but the constant verbal reminders (by elders and the jw pubs) that jehovah has 'taken his holy spirit' away from you.
its sad cause the whole scenario of being a jw is like living with an abuser:.
abuse: abuser comes on strong - is sweet and falls in love quickly vs jws: love bombed and drawn into the org by association.

Why does the media leave JW alone?

sure there is the odd sensation in a paper about a child not having blood or something or some brief mention.. why has the media not got hold of the child abuse situation?

Media news is a high dollar business conglomerate. Their business is not news, it's ratings and whatever drives up the price of their stock so that investers can have a higher return. They seek out the sensational and play to their base. News about JWs does not generate revenue for them either in stocks nor in advertising revenue. Hence the news conglomerates do not care.
Most people in the world don't care either, after all, they figure that JWs are a bunch of wacko's, and as such there is a certain amount of, "well thats what you get when you join a cult" mentality.
