i have noticed at least two active witnesses who have disfellowshipped friends on their facebook account.
it's certainly a. middle finger to the governing body who say that we should not even say hello to such a person.. each facebook friend has to be "approved" so what does this say about the attitudes of the rank and file?.
This is what got my moms panties in a wad initially, was my adding my own DF'd sister, and a cousin who was DF'd as a teen and is now in her 30's. She couldn't believe I was "taking on disfellowshipped people" and deleting ones from the congregation. Well beleive it! Next one to be deleted was her after that comment. Judge me not!

Also, I'd like to add that I've not read anything recent, for the exact reason that it fired me up, but I read this article (the scan, here) and it really was so very clear. I can already tell I will have a difficult time expressing what I wish to convey, so bear with me.
The tone in which they write is condescending, but also on a surface level we know its a writer who is making this article, but it's subliminally written as if it's the GB speaking directly to us. There are comments which imply that we DO know something and DO agree with something, and that's the way it should be. And if we DON'T agree with it? Then the feeling is there that you aren't worthy, or subpar, or beneath acceptable to be in line with Jehovahs standards. Example: Little Johnny, you KNOW that your father and I like for you to keep your room clean, and you are a happy boy when it's clean and your parents are pleased with you. So you know what to do, and what will happen if you don't straighten up"
We've got the parents telling the kid he already clearly has this concept (and if he doesn't he's just stupid)....then there is the threat of what happens if he doesn't step in line (the you know what will happen if you don't straighten up)....also the subtle mentioning of others emotions being controlled by Little Johnny. It's manipulative, it's condescending, it's controlling, and it's pious. I can't stand any of it.

i was just told by my dad that my name was brought up last night in the elders meeting.. my dad (is or was) an elder, and he told me that the elders are going to be giving me a call.
they have heard rumors that i am an apostate !!.
he said that the elders received a call from another hall that heard that i was an apostate and 1 local brother also turned me in.. does this mean that they have 2 witness to my sin and that they can df me without a jc?.

i thought it would be good to discuss it to understand what caused some of us to exit suddenly, or some to exit gradually .. myself , i had been in 44 years , had mentally had doubts for years before exiting - but injustices by the elders and my doubts about the " generation " doctrine led me to exit suddenly one night before a meeting.
the elders pissed me off , i went to my seat, picked my books up and walked out - never going back.
so what is your story and reasons ?
I wanted to do a quick fade, but it wasn't possible with family begging and guilting me, and me wanting to scream the skin off their face. SO. We just stopped going one day, and never looked back. I will say that we tormented ourselves on our end to go or not to go, and felt bad for a long while, but from the outside looking in, we just up and left once and for all on day.
It was hurtful to my family, both sides, but I'm not living their life, I'm living mine. My kids are happy, and healthy, and loving. I don't need the meetings, and I miss exactly NO ONE. It's all good out here in the dark side. ;)

Well cue the spooky Friday the 13th music.......my husband is going to the meeting Sunday. Not according to his wishes, but because he's in the company of other witnesses on a hunting trip. I still can't believe he went, opening season must really be important to him
But he refused to shave off the goatee ;)
