Why Do JWs Say Jehovah Protects His People & Then Claim "Time & Unforseen Occurences"?
by minimus inyou'll hear experiences of how jehovah god protected his people in modern times, how only jehovah's witnesses didn't die in a calamity, how an angel evidently protected a person, etc.
they'll show how jehovah takes care of his people by all sorts of almost "miraculous" events----but if a witness did die or something deadly happened to a carload of jws, well, then, it's just "time and unforseen occurence" and we can't expect jehovah to perform miracles in our day, anyway!.
what gives?

Hi min, they are very contradictory arent they? I remember they used to teach that Jehovah didn't protect individuals, only the group as a whole. In other words, they believe that "as a group" Jehovah protected the organization from the holocaust and thats why the wt is still around, but he didn't protect individuals. I dont have a cd currently, so I can't site the source, but thats how I remember it. When my son had brain surgery, they kept saying to pray to jehovah, but don't expect anything, they're real comforting, huh?

My growing opinion about religion
by AK - Jeff inwhen i walked away from jw's i thought that i would find other religions more comforting, less controlling.
what i found was more of the same.
religion acting like a 'prophet'.

I can't stand the thought of "organized" religion after spending years expected to go to meeting after meeting & field service. I view it as just another way for man to dominate man. I occasionally go to church, because I enjoy the worship & singing and also some fellowship. I actually view this board, & others, as church. Regardless of the different viewpoints expressed hear, I gain something in my spiritual walk. I'd rather have a relationship with Jesus wherever I go, than to be stuck in a building.

If The Magi Were So Bad Why Did God Actually Use Them?
by minimus ini never understood this.
they could've told herod where the baby jesus was but refused.
if they were satan's tool, they would've been thrilled to give the report..

I don't want to die.
by paul from cleveland ini've been conditioned since childhood that i'm going to live forever.
i'm having a hard time contemplating the fact that i'm going to die.
i'm so afraid of death that i can't enjoy the life i have now.

Paul, you look about my two sons ages, maybe early twenties. My heart goes out to you. Both of my sons left the "truth" before me, I raised them in it. They both went through a deep depression. They also were worried about death. Their friends had to call me and tell me what was going on. I regret to say, I wasn't there for them. I was so brain washed. They had to depend on friends to get them through it. They made friends with kids from work & school and a few that were xjws.
Like Grace & others here, I am a believer. I will tell you what I wish I had told them.
We were lied to about God, what he expects from us and how he feels about us. We were lied to about death. Today starts a new day. Unlike being a witness, you don't have to have all the answers. Does it matter if the jws (or the atheists, for that matter) were right, and we're just dead when we die? If so, you wont know it. If believers are right, then there is a beautiful afterlife, that I believe, the Lord has prepared for us. Worrying about it is unproductive, we can't escape it. Isn't more important to live each day to it's fullest? What type of footprint would you like to leave behind? We were conditioned to believe that this world is a terrible place, on the brink of destruction, everything is bad, bad, bad.
Im here to tell you there is much good in the world and alot of wonderful people. Make new friends, discover your gifts & look for God with a new set of eyes, without the influence from the wt. Many people have discovered a new, wonderful world outside of Jehovah's Witnesses, regardless of what path they ultimately decided to take.
Much Love,
Jeanie

Is the GB Bloodguilty?
by LostGeneration inno not about the blood issue, though i would say yes to that.. what i'm talking about is in regard to the preaching work.
i recently commented on a thread that i thought field service was an inconvenient necessity when you are a witness.
many active ones probably feel the same way today, as it is their ticket to paradise earth.

I remember when I lived in kansas, the witnesses had a commercial about talking to your kids about drug abuse, witness friends I had in Colorado, didn't believe it and one elder actually called the c.o. to see if it were true, and yes it was. Being this commercial was being played in the middle of nowhere suggests to me that they didn't have enough jws to go door to door, (except in july when people come out for unassigned territory ") and I would imagine that tv spots are cheap in such locals.
TV shows cost money and why should they spend it when they had all of us to work for free?
