WT Nov 4 Study Article - Damage Control??
by Tish injust been given this watchtower and found the 2nd study article very interesting..... is this the societies damage control to panorama and dateline?.
para 8 onwards says...... 8 satan tries to break our integrity through the sowing of doubts about what we have been taught.
today, as in the first century, apostates and others seek to destroy the faith of the guideless ones.

As Farkel mentioned, once again no specific issues are addressed. We get only generalizations.
julien makes an excellent point too, concerning the use of the word "ridicule".

Im better off
by WildTurkey inmany of us here, are not sure what the future holds, if there is a god, and if so what is his purpose.
i too fall into that category, but i think im better off now because when i was a dub, i always wondered if i was doing enough to get into the new world.
i worried about if my children would make it and if i was taking the lead for my wife and the cong.

Wow, I can sure relate to this thread, and I'm not even "out".
bay64, said:
Personally, most of my prayers to jehovah consisted of absolute pleas for assistance to help me to cope or forgive or understand. I was always 'working on' something or other and never felt I was giving enough even though I gave them 60 hours p/m, full attendance at all meetings and looked after my home and family! Not to mention the hours of study, reading the days text, praying with children, helping them with ways to 'reason' with their schoolfriends as to why they were different and couldn't take part in this and that etc. Oh yes and there was the 'hospitality' thing, whereby on our 'free' evenings we felt obliged to invite someone in the congregation who perhaps we didn't know so well in order to 'widen out'!........(takes a DEEP breath!)............
All I can say is, "Amen" to that.......I didn't do the 60 hours thing, but the rest of it sure applies.
Good post WT.

JW admits he OBEYS the Watchtower
by Sirona ini couldn't believe this comment on another forum.
a jw admits that he obeys the watchtower and uses the bible to say that we should obey them or be struck dead!.
lol.

When we were even slightly rebellious he would remind us of the scriptural practice in the Hebrew days of stoning disobedient children. Heartless....so sad.
That is indeed very sad mrs rocky2! Wow.

ARENT WE ALL A BIT BITTER?
by josephus ini cant help but think some of you guys are just tooooo angry for your past hurts.. weve all got terrible stories which can make us cry, but whats the motivation for such bitterness ?.
some people search out pervets, seemingly to lay these scumbags and their faults at the societys door.. others try to use thier bad times as an excuse to rubbish the entire religion.. i am not saying that jws are great, or that the society is perfect or undeserving of punishment.. but why are we not trying to even up the good points of the religion.. no smoking, no drugs, no abortion, on and on, and on.. and then try to remember the good times you all had at the meetings.
the laughs and the help you gave, and received.

Good points made by all, and I think it is a valid question that was raised too at the outset.
Onacruse makes a good point - that people here are in 'various stages' in their feelings about this religion and religion in general. Many are understandably angry, like Tesha. Others just 'hang out' here and find it to be enjoyable, and in actuality they hardly ever post things that appear venomous to the WTS. Some post excellent research topics and try to give others something to think about, another point of view besides that espoused by the Society.

I'm beginning to wonder what my life would be like without Ozzie's weekend polls!
Numbers 2 and 9 stand out for me -
The family study was always tough. Even when i was an elder, I couldn't stand it. I'd start drifting mentally and my wife says that I fell asleep once. There was always tension associated with it. My child felt 'outnumbered' and felt like she was being lectured. My wife felt left out and often sat and said nothing, just reading paragraphs in robot-like fashion. We finally just gave it up, and we look back now and marvel as to how we pushed ourselves to do something that we all hated doing, just so that we could say 'yes, we have a family study' and that I could report it on a field service slip and 'study report'.
Many times, my wife and daughter either stayed at the Hall and waited for me or went home on their own while I performed duties. It was worst when I was accounts servant, and then later an elder. I always worried about them traveling home alone at night, but also, I hated to make them wait for me at the 'brief' elders meetings that went on and on.
One time, we stayed to read a letter about Circuit Overseer accomodations that did not even apply to our locale. I sent my family home. After the elder's meeting, I told one elder that we could easily have avoided having the meeting by just circulating the letter. He got angry at me and said, 'can't we even give 10 minutes?'. It took longer that that and that wasn't even my point. My point was why have these meetimgs if they are not needed while our families have to wait or travel without us?

Please, I am so upset...I need some hugs...
by Sentinel ini am having a very difficult time and i am here right now because i know in my heart, that when i explain what has just happened to me a few minutes ago, you will understand.
many of you are no doubt going through the same thing.. within several posts here, i have spoken of my mother.
my dear sweet mother, who just turned 78, and who has been a faithful jw since 1959. she abandoned me in 1981, when i decided to leave the borg, and for twelve years she did not speak to me, write to me, call me, or visit me.

((((((((((((((((((((Karen)))))))))))))))))))))))
Once the new KM came out, and then began being considered at the service meetings, this was bound to happen, obviously.
Karen the posts here have been great and I can only add that I am very sorry as well.
