Iknowall, thank you for the link to that thread. I hope you can see I have nothing against you, or any witness really. It's against the way of thinking and acting. I hope the examples are useful in showing how wrong it is to follow such behaviors.

want to say hello to all the heathens and worldy ones out there
by avesta inhi i dis - assd myself six years ago and only just found this site.. i wished i had found it years ago instead of having to ween off the cult practices i was born into for 35 yrs.. i had a very hard time adjusting and still find some things difficult to come to terms with.. i bumped into a "sister" i had last seen wen i left last week to find out she had left the "cult" as well and is a qualified reiki master and also a hypnotherapist.
i think it is great she can carry on with her new life despite the ingrained teachings of demons.. i have divorced in the meantime and have done so much in the past six years than i ever did in the 35 years before.
oh and i am much more conteded, i have no one over my shoulder telling me i am wrong for this or that!

I have a rethorical question.
Can the WTS please explain the meaning of these Bible passages for me?
Matthew 5:43-48 (New World Translation, by the way):
43 “Y OU heard that it was said, ‘You must love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’ 44 However, I say to YOU : Continue to love YOUR enemies and to pray for those persecuting YOU ; 45 that YOU may prove yourselves sons of YOUR Father who is in the heavens, since he makes his sun rise upon wicked people and good and makes it rain upon righteous people and unrighteous. 46 For if YOU love those loving YOU , what reward do YOU have? Are not also the tax collectors doing the same thing? 47 And if YOU greet YOUR brothers only, what extraordinary thing are YOU doing? Are not also the people of the nations doing the same thing? 48 Y OU must accordingly be perfect, as YOUR heavenly Father is perfect.
Luke 10:25-37:
25 Now, look! a certain man versed in the Law rose up, to test him out, and said: “Teacher, by doing what shall I inherit everlasting life?” 26 He said to him: “What is written in the Law? How do you read?” 27 In answer he said: “‘You must love Jehovah your God with your whole heart and with your whole soul and with your whole strength and with your whole mind,’ and, ‘your neighbor as yourself.’” 28 He said to him: “You answered correctly; ‘keep on doing this and you will get life.’”
29 But, wanting to prove himself righteous, the man said to Jesus: “Who really is my neighbor?” 30 In reply Jesus said: “A certain man was going down from Jerusalem to Jer´i·cho and fell among robbers, who both stripped him and inflicted blows, and went off, leaving him half-dead. 31 Now, by coincidence, a certain priest was going down over that road, but, when he saw him, he went by on the opposite side. 32 Likewise, a Levite also, when he got down to the place and saw him, went by on the opposite side. 33 But a certain Sa·mar´i·tan traveling the road came upon him and, at seeing him, he was moved with pity. 34 So he approached him and bound up his wounds, pouring oil and wine upon them. Then he mounted him upon his own beast and brought him to an inn and took care of him. 35 And the next day he took out two de·nar´i·i, gave them to the innkeeper, and said, ‘Take care of him, and whatever you spend besides this, I will repay you when I come back here.’ 36 Who of these three seems to you to have made himself neighbor to the man that fell among the robbers?” 37 He said: “The one that acted mercifully toward him.” Jesus then said to him: “Go your way and be doing the same yourself.”
I'm sure that they would find a way to bend this, too. If the "half-dead" person were a practicing witness, he of course would take the help, and would then find himself in the position of having to shed the despicable worldly Samaritan. Tactfully, yes, because otherwise the despicable worldly might not join the WTS. If the Samaritan became interested in being a friend, of course the witness would have to "shed" him. Otherwise, he wouldn't keep himself in God's Love, right?

so why dont they cut to the chase at the door???
by oompa inas in..."hi, my name is soa fraid and i hope you will accept my offer for a free home bible study.
the reason you should accept this free offer is that our leaders, the men who have compiled the material for this study receive direct communication from god, and he speaks to no other religion on earth.
they then write down what god has told them to, and publish it in a zillion languages so that we can teach people what god really meant in his new world translation of the holy scriptures...you may refer to it as the bible.

I see your point. It feels awful to be rejected at the door. But, since you're in this forum and you see things differently, do you realize why the people are not interested?

I happen to have some friends from other faiths and they are forbidden from marrying us despicable worldlies, too, but they are not told to think of us as birdfeed. They are not told that they should lie to us about what they believe. Et cetera; I'm sure the readers of this post get the point.
If I'm not mistaken, Christopher Hitchens' "god is not great" says that, by force of law, a muslim can't marry an infidel in Afghanistan. As Teel says, this means that JW's are not the only ones to enforce such things, but, does that make it right?
How many people would actually convert if they were told that they would have to dump all their friends and relatives?
I have a question, and probably it will get no answer. Admittedly, most of us worldlies do not really care much about you. But, supposing a worldly person showed real concern for a JW, and really cared about him or her, would it be the right, loving and Christian thing to shun that person because she or he will die at Armageddon? How would real courtesy and humanity make you feel? Do you realize what you're doing? The sad answer is, most of you don't. How sad.
Iknowall, at least you have seen the light. One of the hardest things for a worldly to do is to love a witness no matter how scornful they are to you. When you get to understand that, as Jesus would say it, "they don't know what they are doing", you also ask the Father (if there's any) to forgive them. And in your heart you do. As you can see by my post, that is not an easy thing to do or one that doesn't leave you with wounds. But you know that's the right thing to do and you do it. Of course, that doesn't mean I won't end as birdfeed, right?

Being a worldly, and having been told directly why I can't be friends with or marry a witness, this doesn't surprise me. The witness in question was at least more honest about it. However, reading this does give me the goosebumps. How can a convert be so stupid? How can anyone really believe that the right thing to do is to despise the rest of the world? Sad, so unbelievably sad, that they are living in a self-imposed prison.
All JW's forgive me, but, HOW STUPID. HOW UNBEARABLY STUPID.

Dawkins Says Pope Ratzi Should NOT Resign
by cofty infrom the washington post.
a leering old villain in a frock, who spent decades conspiring behind closed doors for the position he now holds; a man who believes he is infallible and acts the part; a man whose preaching of scientific falsehood is responsible for the deaths of countless aids victims in africa; a man whose first instinct when his priests are caught with their pants down is to cover up the scandal and damn the young victims to silence: in short, exactly the right man for the job..... .

Why would a woman want to look like that?
by TD ini was leafing through a diet and exercisie magazine my wife subscribes to and noticed (not for the first time) that the female fitness models don't look like women at all.
--they look like anorexic teenaged boys with long hair.. skinny to the point of emaciation is not fit.
i would be willing to bet that not one of these models could even run a 10k.

Why is it so hard for Ex-JWs to make that "final step" and give up Christianity?
by sabastious ini'm not sure if it's just denial on a lot of people's part, but the reason the jws doctrine is so wacky and controlling is because they are among the few religions that really try to follow the bible!.
the bible is the culprit here in actuality, but even after someone has "wizened up" to the misguided teachings of jehovah's witnesses they still hold the bible as inspired word of god.. why don't you believe that the governing body was chosen as the faithful and discreet slave in 1918?
because the only real evidence to that fact is that they say so.

Interesting. It sort of makes you think they know they are not telling the truth. If someone discovered a vaccine against cancer, say, and I were to knock on people's door to let them know about it, why would I hide the facts?
