lol @ mle
so funny your experience,
yep, i miss those good old field service days but now i'm not allowed to join in the house to house work.
so i've decided to do what i was taught to do instead; letter writing.. i'm going to take the money i once contributed to the kingdom hall and buy stamps with it.
then i'll give a good witness to many in my area or in my state or across the country.

field service, omg, I most of the time goe with my wife, she never was really fond of it, so we do some Rv that are scattered around the territory, and only very little ddd (door-to-door-disturbing work)
however, sometimes I miss the time when I really did enjoy it, when I thought, placing magazines or reading a scripture is success...now i know its all BS, ....
chapter three from 'shepherding the flock of go' published by the wts of penn/ny as part of their worldwide bible educational work.
the wts is a non-profit whose publications are not for sale but are freely given to those who show 'genuine' interest..... while not required, a donation is always joyfully accepted .
well i was going to stick to the boe ltr for a 'pre-view' but somebody deleted my sendspace links.
and it doesnt make any sense, why should Jehovah bless a brother, who went against the clear direction from Gods org by not confessing his sin ?
would it not also mean, God condones such behaviour ?
or is it just a way, to keep elders in their position, because there are ot many any more willing to slave for the slave ?
so supposedly.... the devil had access to all the prophecies written about jesus, right?
it was all "written aforetime" so he knew in advance the details that would help people identify the messiah.
he was aware that, for the sake of god's will, jesus would have to die.. why didn't satan just protect jesus?
asked myself this question often,
why is Satan in such a hurry since 1914 ? did he not know beforehand, when the gentile times end ? Russel even knew it ?
why did he manuever things in a way to fulfill prophecies in order to prove the bible right ?
why did he attempt to kill baby-jesus, when he must have known that God will protect him ?
etcetc
just got back from an awesome time in maui.
today we got a call from my fil.
my mil has been in utah for the last week or so and found out that her family past was full of "demon activity".
hang in there brotherdan, things always get worse before they get better.
maybe subconsciuolsy she reacted so strong, because deep down she may know (feel) youre right.
Just consider, JW hang their whole life on the future, if they have family, their future is to be with family in the paradise. Anything that endangers this hope is like a catastrophy for them. The worst that can happen to a JW according to their perspective, is that a loving family member (spouse(child) leaves the truth and will therefore die in A.
Its still real for her, so she will put up a strong defense in order to keep her view, that she cherished for so many years. because, be honest, after knocking down the WTS, often there is nothing left, you have to learn to enjoy life now !! This is a big change, it does not come overnight.
I would suggest, instead of destroying the building of the WTS, try to built up a life for her around the presence, by being there for her, show her your love and attention. Built up real spirituality, help her to think for herself. Time and again, uncover fallacies in WTS reasoning.
Every situation is different, but thats the way I try to get to my wife, and sometimes I see progress, but expect also fallbacks. Patinece is needed, and often you may have to just swallow certain nonsense you hear at the meeting of with other JW.
Wish you the very best, and dont forget this place here, mayn share similar expereinces, and it helps!!
inbetween
i was told that a congregation has started taking donations for those who are struggling in this time.
they said that they mentioned how catholics, etc, have salvation army and take up donations and help the poor, but jw's don't have anything like that.
i was wondering if all congregations are starting this, or one is realizing that they haven't been in harmony with the early christians.
we did it here a couple of times, one of the rare occasions were even I donated ;-)
i ask because i threw down the challenge on another thread that if any agreed with debator/reniaa's apologetics in any area would they please post so that we can see where jw's are correct in their teachings.. nobody supported deb/ren's points.. i do not ask for a list of "correct" jw teachings, just where is deb/ren's correct presentation of wt/jw beliefs that stand scrutiny and are truth.. if there are none then we do not need to engage in any kind of talk with deb/ren..
good question:
before I answer, I may shortly question the term "believing JW".
Do you mean any still active ? or do you mean fully indoctrinated ones (which rareley would be here )?
If you mean still active, but belonging to the consciuos class, then I will try to answer:
Most, if not all of what deb/ren wrote is full of logical fallacies, flaws, errant reasoning or simply just copies of WT arguments.
The apologies for UN, false prophecy, pedophile are quite easy to refute. there is no substance.
However, why i believe we should not ignore him/her:
This board is pretty contra JW. We have hardly those who defend WT positions, mostly because it is a lost cause anyway. Still I think all arguements and discussion gain greater value, if somebody tries to counterargue. Lurkers and others are able to see both sides, and make an informed decision for themselves. A truth stands out more, when arguments to bring it down are successfully refuted.
Time and again, when reading certain threads, I think, ok this sounds right, but it may be onesided. When now apologists come, like scholar, debator etc, and try to proove the opposite, then I often see, how well founded the proof and facts are.
And one thing we might not wnat to forget: behind debator/reniaa, scholar or whoever is a real person, able to reason and to decide, whether truth or loyalty to a so called Gods org is more valuable to them. And remember, most of us wefe apologists before, something made us change, maybe it works for them too....
just my thoughts
can we trust this website?.
watchtower as a united nations ngo - critical look at the conspiracy theory.
http://www.jehovahsjudgment.co.uk/watchtower-un-ngo/.
JW are for a world government right ?
so they share the same ideals as Hitler for example ? Would you say that ?
Jw always make clear, how they are different from all other religions or institutions, even seemingly similarities are denied by highlighting even minor points as different. (eg jesus dies for us, but not on a cross, only on a stake etc)
But out of a sudden they share the same ideals as the wild beast ????
inconsistencies where you look
i thought it would be an interesting exercise to ask everybody on here what their 'top 10 reasons why jws don't have the truth' actually were.
maybe we can see some correlating views/patterns/ideas that may help us de-programme the newbies that come on this site.
if eventually most people have an outstanding gripe/concern it'll help everybody understand the ex-jw mindset a little better.
debator:
why JW are to called false prophets ?
1) as in the WT article above seen, they call themselves prophets. and not just to warn people, also to declare what to come !!! Of course, since 1975, they were careful to promote dates, but saying for 30 years, Armageddon is around the corner, falls into the category of false prophecy. Especially the generation of 1914, that will not go before the end. Any JW in the early 90`s calculated a generation with max 80 years, so they expected the end for sure before 2000 !! And the org approved of this ! But time ran out, and 95 they had to change the definition of generation, because their interpretation failed.
2) wheter to call the information from the GB as spirit inspired or spirit directed is just a matter of semantics. In both cases it is claimed that Gods spirit is involved, and the information had divine origin or at least divine approval !
3) the message was always clear: it was never written in a way, that would qualify it as theory or speculation, rather it is expected from R&F to accept anything from the FDS as given from God !!! and questioning them would mean to question God !
"we can be glad to have such a great variety of spiritual food, just take a look at the nonsense in other churches".
"so many nice brothers, look forward to the new system, when we can all get to know them better".
"it was really a protection being raised in the truth".
"We can be glad to have such a great variety of spiritual food, just take a look at the nonsense in other churches"
"So many nice brothers, look forward to the new system, when we can all get to know them better"
"It was really a protection being raised in the truth"
"we can be servants of the most high, what a privilege"
and so on....
The worst of the matter though, guess who said this ?
It was ME !!! Today I´m still amazed I fully promoted this garbage !
makes me not trust my own judgement sometimes , how could I believe this grab for so many years ?
