the Watchtower does have its own "university" - Gilead and other theocratic schools.
Comparing Gilead to university is like calling a paddling pool an Olympic swimming pool
i've been debating this, and my mother (the spiritual head of my family, she even controls my father spiritually, who is an elder) doesn't seem to be starkly against me going to a prestigious university.
in fact, i've been going over my chances, and i'd say i have a pretty decent chance of going to my dream university, oxford university, to study philosophy, politics, and economics.
naturally i wouldn't tell my mother about me wanting to take the three most hated subjects of jws at a university that would bring me into bad relations with "spiritually sound jws".. do you guys know any ex-jw or knowledgeable jw who knows ttatt that went to a randall group or ivy league school?

I studied part time whilst I was an elder (at Bournemouth and Southampton). I eventually earned a masters but I wish I had gone to University full time and enjoyed all aspects of uni life. Full time students enjoy an experience that builds social and interpersonal skills and that helps prepare for professional life.
If you don't take the opportunities open to you now, you may regret it.
..specifically, the suffering of animals.
you can talk about free will/sin/people choosing to not listen to god etc to explain human suffering being allowed.. but how can you love a god that allows animals, that haven't sinned or chosen to not have anything to do with god, to have their short lives ended in often long, drawn out, painful ways.
i could list stories i've read that would probably make you feel ill, but i'm not looking to shock anyone or start an emotional debate.
Like the president of the USA or any other ruler for that matter, God has his good reasons for what he does and what he allows including animal suffering. Is that bad? You are not running the USA or the world for that matter.
Thank you Fisherman, for making me laugh out loudly in a very quiet lounge in Basel Airport....

mary had a little lamb.
whose fleece was white as snow,.
Mary had a little lamb
But what she wanted was a horse
So she took it down the butcher's shop
and ate it with mint sauce

reading a report of an elder in a friends cong has been hiding and spying on the pioneers who seem to have a practise of dumping the cart and finding a local coffee shop, i've noticed that they do this in my local high street as well but this week they seemed to be all huddled around the cart, they've clearly been warned, a vast percentage of the time i see they seem to be more interested in fiddling with their mobile phones and gossiping, is just seems these carts are a means for the pioneers to turn in "easy time" i wonder what sort of figures show how much literature is being taken by the public?
i bet its very minimal.
naturally the gb would say they are a phenomenal success , we clearly know they are not.
Young people often take the Young People ask books and brochures on creation.
Yeah, they need a laugh at the expense of the ignorant morons who write this crap.
who told you that the world should be free from suffering?.
do you find any value in suffering?.
do you think it is possible to experience all the beauty and goodness and pleasure the world offers without also experiencing the bad?
A child born into starvation, never knowing anything else - truly beautiful.....
as a member on bart ehrman's blog, i am able to ask him direct questions.is jehovah in the bible?.
question:.
how firmly grounded in reality is the claim of jehovahs witnesses that the divine name (jehovah) belongs in the new testament?.
Good stuff

It's the persecution we have been expecting - it shows how how close to the end of this wicked system we are. You can almost smell the rotting corpses of worldly people ,,,,
I await the final outcome.
