  we recently were visiting lifelong friends of ours in another state.

  these people are uber-devoted jw's.

  i mean they are prototypical "witness zombies" who do exactly what the gb tell them to without fail and always with a smile on their face.

  i hate to read the wt, but i skimmed the july 15 study edition.

  "Jehovah's Witnesses do better after surgery without transfusion" - Article (July 3, 2012)

  this article from 2012 published by the birmingham news showed up on my facebook page.. what i would have liked to see in the statistics is the inclusion of total jws refusing blood transfusion and their survival rate not only the ones taht surviced, taking about only survivors is not like for like comparison in my opinion with patients who take blood transfusion and then dont survive.. .

  nugget, there was a woman who regularly attended my own church who was bent over at the waist, nearly 90 degrees. It was a significant handicap. She was very faithful, often going up for prayer looking for a miraculous healing.

  Talking to her after service one day, I was horrified to find out that there is a surgery to correct this handicap! This woman preferred to have God do it.

  explanation: "the listener has time to interrupt, if they want--" .

  together with an incredible boring "study" of an hand held device, or it's stored content, i will be a totally new crop of orgies at the halls,.

  I am sooo screwed

  so last night i was talking to my sister about how i admired president obama's speech to the u.n that happened earlier that day.. i then compared the extremism of isis to how much of a fanatic my jw bil is.. at the end of the statement , my mom walked in to the kitchen.

  she was standing in the living room and she heard everything i said.. she called the elders that night to tell them what i said so they can counsel me.. i'm going to meet with them after the meeting on sunday!.

  what do i do?!!!!!.

  By the way, it is perfectly all right to promise to show up and then don't. I like wasting elder's time. They should consider getting in to a different line of work. One that pays an actual wage and offers job satisfaction.

  poll, why would you hide it your buisness/job

  how many people on here who were or are jws, owned or ran a buisness who would not willingly let people at the k hall know, maybe to avoid feeling like you had to give your fellow brothers and sisters a discount, or free help, or out of fear of being judged.

  did you only help out the pioneers?

  and not the poor ones?

  My denomination run an article about the Christian tendency to run away from needy people. The article spoke about boundaries. We are less likely to put ourselves out there if we fear being taken advantage of. The writer suggested setting boundaries right up front, describing what was appropriate to ask for (i.e. no more than one visit a week, when to call and how long). The needy are often grateful for any time, and in my experience, are very respectful of the boundaries.

  With this boundary setting principle, I have been more willing to put myself out in support of others.

  Of course, Witnesses are notorious for ignoring any boundaries at all.

  when confronted with all of the inconsistencies and atrocities of the bible, many believers invariably claim that they don't base their faith in christ on what's written in the bible.

  so what is the basis then, if not scripture?.

  and please don't tell me "the lord has revealed himself to me".

  No, I think jesus' teachings have been organically transmogrified through the retelling. We have a modern obsession with precision which simply has not existed for most of our history.

  I'll be honest, I think without the Bible the Jesus story might have been no more than a historical footnote. Could you honestly say you'd still be a Christian if you'd never encountered a Bible? I think not. - nicolau

  I encountered a Christian organization that depends on the bible to anchor it's beliefs. If it had not been a Christian organization, another rescue organization would have helped me find my way.
