Demonizing the Watchtower
by IslandWoman inour 'beloved' old faith tried to teach us to hate other religions and all things that smacked of anything that was worldly.
they demonized all things outside of their religion.. are some of us in danger of carrying that same thinking over to our new lives as former jws?
could some here at first start out as an anti-cultist but in time allow this to become a 'religion' in itself?.

Francois
by IslandWoman infrancois,.
if i have accused you of something you did not do then i sincerely apologize.. when you asked me to point out the thread in question i could not understand, 1. how you could not know or remember which thread it was and, 2. why you did not go to your history and find it there.
this is why i did not provide the link.

What if the Watchtower Changed .......
by IslandWoman inif the watchtower changed it's blood doctrine to one where publishers could do what their conscience dictated without fear of reprisals from the brothers, if they also quit using the two witness rule and said all criminal accusations must be reported to the police, if they stopped shunning, if they said all df and da'd could associate with their friends and family, if they apologized to ray franz and all others who were hurt by their policies; would exjws respect their dogma and refrain from putting down their religious beliefs to their faces?.
this is an important question, more important than you know.

To Waiting
by IslandWoman inwaiting,.
i've been thinking about some of the posters i've met on the exjw boards these past couple of years and you came to mind as one of the most level-headed and balanced people i have encountered on this journey.. i appreciate your humor too.
we have not always agreed but what the hell, if life were just one head nodding "yes" after the other, we would still be in the tower.

Don Adams, Max Larson - Winners of the "Golden Piles Award"
by IslandWoman inthe governing body does not run the whole show all by themselves!
max larson is the president of the new york corporation, don adams is the president of the pennsylvania corporation.
i think these men should be duly recognized for their contribution towards the demoralization and demonizing of jehovah's witnesses.

The Taking Down the Tower Myth
by IslandWoman insome prominant xjws have promulgated this myth.
some have done so out of hatred for the watchtower others because of love for the ones hurt by the watchtower.. the "taking down of the tower" will not happen.. just as the roman catholic church continues and all of her children continue, so will the watchtower.
it fills a need among the religiously disenfranchised and will continue to so for some time.. there is no "smoking gun" large enough to take down a religion which draws to itself the cast offs of other religions.. reform, reform, reform.

Selective Quotes, Out of Context Quotes
by IslandWoman inthis is a well known problem with the watchtower, taking a quote out of context or fishing around for quotes which suit their purpose but do not really give the full picture of the subject or the full view of the person their quoting.
this thread though is not about the society's problem with this but ours.
some of us also take quotes out of context and do not give the full picture.

Help Africans, Asians, South Americans?
by IslandWoman inmany americans think their country went to war in iraq to free the iraqi people from tyranny.
if africans, asians, or south americans, faced a similar kind of "tyranny" (and some do) would the present american administration be there to "free" them also?
