nice comment STEVE2, the church of england was once considered apostate by rome, i`ve voiced the opinion for a couple of years now that the jw`s will calm it down, just become main stream. it wont be a suprise that soon they will say we dont need to knock on peoples doors anymore because everyone knows who jw`s are....stopped saying the end of the world is nigh,no date on it anymore. just be a sunday morning thing.

i thought jesus called those who fell away lost sheep...but then again, remember, its never about those who have left, its about scaring those who remain, to stay......ah!

What Bored You The Most As A JW?
by minimus ini got very bored while i was a witness.. the meetings were so boring!!!.
jws are supposed to be "busy" in the lord's work.
if you're busy, you shouldn't be bored, right?

i was working recently on a roof, and from that vantage point could see the jw`s walking up the road.my work mate not a x jw said:
"why do they walk so slow"
"thats called the witness walk, walking as slowly as you can to burn up as much time as possible, because your so sick of doing what your doing"
that was the most boring thing of all for me, oh! and all the meetings pherhaps with the exception of the book group, which was only an hour long. talking about the book group i knew of one xbro who told me that he always made sure he went to the toilet at a book group,so he could go through the dirty washig basket(which some people keep in the bathroom) so he could have a sniff at the womans dirty knickers!!! oh and the bro who asked to use the toilet, and then proceeded to clean his teeth using some poor sods toothbrush.

"Commenting" at Meetings
by cameo-d ini don't quite understand why you call it commenting.. when i attended meeting the question at end were read.. when people "commented" it was never a real comment.. it was just reading back word for word a sentence or two from the paragraph that answered the question.. i would think "commentary" would be something you put in your own words and give a personal statement about it.. .
why do you call it "comments" when it is more like reciting?.
or is it different in other kh?.

i left in late 91, god i remember those awful hour long public talks, then an hours watchtower......brain dead. i always remember the joy of leaving not having to go to meetings anymore, getting up on a sunday morning lazing around in my pjs watching mindless tv.all i really remember about commenting was people having a go at others in the congregation (for example one "bro" commented on how people shouldnt go to the cinema to watch ungodly films like beverly hills cops) many times i could hardly keep my eyes open and that includes when i was reading the bloody watchtower from the platform!!!.

So, it happened. Packed my things and left
by aligot ripounsous insome may remember, i wrote on an other thread that elders forbade me to give comments at the wt meeting, as i weaken the brothers' faith.
i wasn't satisfied with this outcome and, 10 days ago i sat with my wife on the front part of the kh (like in many khs, attendants pack on the back seats), in the middle of the row, right in front of the wt elder, and raised my hand insistently.
i was of course openly ignored but i didn't care, all that i wanted was verybody to see how they deal with independent members.

i am ex witness, i was oppossed to "religion" before i became a witness, i thought the witnesses were different i was wrong and very young and idealistic, they are no better or worse than all "religion". as to how i feel now, i dont opposse peoples "religion" or "faith". i now honestly see "religion, faith and god" as a good luck charm, an insurance policy etc. if there is a god, and i dont know the answer to that, he certianly isnt interested in humankind for obvious reasons, or we just dont know how it all works. i suppose i would say i live this life as know its all ive got, but do belive that the human spirit, infact all animal kind is in some way eternal.

I took the '1914 Generation' prophecy seriously, did you? Do you even remember it?!
by nicolaou ini was born in 1964, 50 years after 1914. even in my teens i was doing the sums.
i had a worse case scenario figured out - if the 1914 generation could apply to babies and even if they lived to be a 120, i would still only be about 70 years old after they'd all died!
i figured i was part of the first wave of 'jehovah's people' that really would live to see the new order - guaranteed!!

jack214 nice comment, thats exactly the way i felt, though when i left i still belived in the "truth" as they insist you call it, (we dont brain wash people of course). i just sat there one day an thought all the things i love, football (soccer) the beatles, old tv programmes etc wont be there, im bored to death now, why would i want to live forever in absolute boredom. i was just lucky i wasnt born into it as you were and lots of friends at the time, most have now left. i never felt i had a real friend when i was a jw, yet after not seeing "worldly friends" for over 7 years they allowed me to pick up where i left off. good luck to you and keep posting.
