Can anyone disprove 607 BCE date using only the NWT and WT literature?
by Bart Belteshassur ini haven't come across any arguement that does not involve secular history and external references.
in fact the wt can not get to 607 bce without using external sources as in knowing that they need to get back from 1914 ce to 607 bce, and botching an argument using an external date as reference to create their start point at 537 bce.. i realize that to get the final date we must provide a fixed figure from somewhere which can only be a historical source, but the objective would be to disprove the wt flim flam.
once that is achieve we can use which ever fixed historical point they wish to chose.

Mormon's BITE model...so much like JWs! but waaay stricter and ridiculous(IMO)
by Batman89 ini. behavior control 1. regulation of individual's physical reality a. where, how and with whom the member lives and associates the church's official doctrine is that members can be friends with anyone.
contradictory teachings imply and state outright that one should not associate with non-members or people who have "lower standards".

The Sept 15 WT " Are You Convinced That You Have The Truth? Why?
by BluesBrother inthis article title leapt out at me and i thought that at last we may see some solid argument as to why the wt teaches what it does, some "reasoning on the scriptures ".. well... the theme scripture set a good scene, being rom 12.2 " prove to yourself the good and acceptable and perfect will of god" .
ok , let's prove it - logically.. the article starts by citing the witnesses neutrality and refusal to bear arms as a reason to believe.
now i happen to agree with that stand , but is it unique to j w's ?

Going by #'s alone they only prove that the literature of the JWs sucks at making converts. If they had the truth it would be far more attractive than it is. Here is one small ministry based in Colorado Springs that does door to door preaching and for the number of peices of literature they place compared to the # of people that respond favorably is not even close. They make the JWs look silly.

What Do Mormons Really Believe? RE: The Nov. 8, 1995 Awake Magazine
by D_Rolling_Kearney ini am a member of the church of jesus christ of latter-day saints, and i have written a heavily-documented response to the official magazine of the jehovah's witnesses, awake!, that claims to teach what we believe.
i saw an article from last year's watchtower about a guy who had barely been mormon for very long, and obviously did not know what we believe, who was given this magazine by jw's to show him "the truth.
" he claims to have proven to himself that it was true from information on the lds church's website.

Cold Steel:
And what's so "rich" about it? We claim both prophecy and revelation, just as in the ancient church. It seems that if a religion is going to claim any sort of legitimacy, it must have these gifts. The Jehovah's Witnesses just assumed to be God's represented Kingdom on Earth. But how does that work? How do they know God chose them in 1919 (or whenever)? Or that Jesus returned "invisibly"?
I'm interested in seeing a list of fulfilled prophecy of the Mormon church.

How do you shut your mind down so you can get a good night sleep???
by jam inthe more i learn about jw's the harder it is.
to sleep at night.

Jam,
I suffer from the same type of sleep issues. My best suggestion is to take 500-1000 mg of GABA an hour before bed. It's a natural supplement that is incredible for stopping the racing thoughts and stress. I also supplement the GABA with 5-htp or tryptophan which is also a natural supplement. GABA is a natural seratonin reuptake inhibitor and 5-htp/tryptophan is a seratonin booster in simple terms.
You can also supplement those w/ a sleep aid. The one that works best for me is doxylamine succinate which is an alternative to diphenhydramine which to me has a bad effect that causes sluggishness and lethargy which lingers thru parts of the next day.
Hope this helps.

Has anyone ever saved another persons life?
by LogCon ini don't mean you advised them and they changed their lives around, kind of saving a life.. i mean right before your eyes, right now, you had to do something to save a person or they would be dead.. how did it make you feel?
did it have any affect on you?.
forty years ago i was working on a construction site and a back-hoe had loosened a large boulder.

I don't know if my intervention saved this man's life but I do know it spared him from major harm at least.
I was hiking up the Incline in Manitou Springs Colorado which is 1 mile but climbs 2,000 vertical feet. I was about halfway up and my brother who was
about 30 feet ahead of me pointed to a guy that was sitting down on one of the railroad ties that serves as a step of sorts. He said to keep an eye
on him. Just then I looked at him, he stood up and his eyes rolled back in his head and he went unconscious and fell head first down the trail. It's
about a 45 degree angle and he went into an out right facefirst slide right in my direction, his face bouncing off every railroad tie on his way down. It
looked very painful. Luckily I was able to brace myself and catch him just feet from impaling his face on a 6-8 inch peice of exposed rebar. Poor guy.

Jehovah vs. Jehovah - A comparison
by processor ingetting to know the warrior who gives peace we can learn something about god when we are concerned with people like jacob, who saw god face to face.
(gen. 32:30) true, moses and aaron, nadab and abihu and seventy of the older men of israel proceeded to go up, and they got to see the god of israel.
24:9, 10.someone who has seen god face to face surely would be able to teach us many things about him.
