  HOW EXACTLY does god communicate with or direct the GB?

  we're all familiar with the organisations claims (and have seen the flow diagrams in books and mags) that the gb is "directed by god".

  in turn, the local elders are "directed by god".

  so, how exactly do they suppose this happens?

  There is no 'how for God'. The old farts in Brooklyn ...  Walkill ... wherever ... just bend over and pull something out of their butts.

  Some 30 odd years ago, I asked both my parents at the same time "Is God directing the Watchtower?"

  To me, this is THE question to answer. The reason: it doesn't matter whether the answer is Yes or No, it shows this group is f'ed up and shouldn't be taken seriously at all.

  So, at exactly the same time, my Dad answers "No." and my Mom answers "Yes."

  You should have seen the "Holy Shiite!" look pass between them.  It was priceless.  :0)

  why do you think it is that wts limit accessibility to watchtowers and awakes to only issues since year 2000 on jworg?

  a whiff of something slightly orwellian?

  not a case of re-writing history but nixing it altogether?

  I have over 40 years worth of JW printed material from my parents. I plan to sell it and at least re-coup some money for my Dad in his declining years. He's gonna need it.

  i have heard this nonsense said by many believers, especially when science conflicts with their belief, they say:.

  " well, science may tell us how we got here, religion tells us why we are here".

  does religion tell us that ?

  Agreed. I have often wondered why my parents couldn't see this.

  Jehovah Witness promotion of JW.org as the place to get answers to all of lifes important question is the height of arrogance

  we are hearing reports of this promotion of the website by the jw and it seems to be a resource for them to dodge questions of their faith, when they don't have or want to give an answer to a question they direct the house holder to the organization/corporation's website to get the answer as if it really existed.there.. i think soon they are going to drop the door to door work all together as completely unprofitable, i mean their donation arrangement is a complete flop and has cost them i'm sure so they are in the process of shipping as many as they can into building up real estate for the corporation, because that is where the money is right now.. the whole jw.org is just a complete failure as a source of good information and only scare away people except the most vulnerable/gullible.. .

  Woke up this morning to the realization that the future is now

  as the title of the thread says, i woke up this morning realizing more than ever that we should, each and every one of us, live for today and what we can accomplish today, rather than constantly looking toward the future.. i'm not implying we shouldn't make plans, plans are healthy and advisable, especially if you have healthy commitments.. but i realized the reason why nothing in my life ever seems to get done, is because i put things off, and look ahead 10 years down the line, then a few days later realize how much work needs to be put into that said task, then i don't do anything.

  and so the cycle seems to repeat itself.. what i think i'm trying to say is that worthwhile endeavors that have a reward at the end, but take many years to get there, need to be challenged one day at a time.

  i now understand that to get to where we want to be 10 years down the line, we need to focus on today and the hard work that needs to be out into a task one day at a time.

  Botchtower's formula  Pray More + Wait on Jehovah = Nothing Gets Done and People get Hurt/Ill/Dead is a dangerous and destructive one.
  

  It is exactly opposite to the 1st Effective Habit from Stephen Covey - "Be Proactive".

  They are both symbols. And yes, they could be interpreted as 'idol worship'.
  

  JWs decided at some point that the 'cross' was not legitimate (that Christ died on a stake not a cross... yeah, doubt it) for one and felt it to be a symbol of 'Christendom' aka Satan/evil and so abandoned it.

  hello forum,.

  i'm new here and not sure where to post.

  so, i'm 21 years old and currently a baptized witness, however, i'm slowly making my mind up to leave and here's why.. first, there are certain things that make no sense to me in the organization.

  Welcome, Garrett. 

  Well it is obvious you have critical thinking skills and intellectual honesty. This is wonderful!   It does mean, you'll never be able to be a Jehovah's Witness. I know as this is what happened to me. I was born in never baptized. I couldn't be honest with myself and sign up to this crap. I have never received satisfying answers to my questions from these folks simply because they don't know. It's all made up and it changes over time. How can you claim to have truth one day and change it to say this is the 'new' truth (aka nu lite) the next? To me it is obvious there is no higher power guiding this group.

  I think you'll find your depression abates as you distance yourself from the JWs.  

  If your depression does not get better, definitely seek professional help. You may need a counsellor to help you work through this time. 

  My advice... look to who you really are and do what you love. Surround yourself with positive, supportive people. They are out there.

  i really don't care that i am an apostate, but would like to deliver a quick comeback or two to perhaps make the other person think.
