  It has been my experience that JWs don't know how to answer questions.

  Got my invite this week as well. I'm in Ontario, Canada. It was a hit and run. No contact made No door knock and no video shown (I work from home).

  Once again, I am busy on whatever date this thing is being held. My sock drawer is a mess and needs immediate attention... on that specific day!

  Evaluating the problem of sexual abuse of children within the JW religion, why, how and for what reason

  this topic has come up many times before on this forum and others but i think its worthy to reevaluate where and how this problem exists from an analytical perspective within the jw religion.

  it is obvious that the wts has been covering up situations of child sexual abuse with careless irresponsible apathy for decades toward both possible victims and potentially identified perpetrators of this socially repugnant crime.

  following guidelines as written in the bible which were emulated and exploited as a self protecting guideline to protect the outward image of the organization overall in spite of known acknowledgement that pedophilia is a serious crime in most countries.

  Since they believe they are God's Chosen, this elevates them above everyone else. They cannot allow anyone to know there are issues. There is a facade to maintain of being 'the happiest people on Earth'. But when the issues become public, the questioning arises as to how God could possibly give a group like this his favour. They have to maintain the delusion of superiority or they are just like every other religion and have no basis to claim they are the one true religion.
  

  A 'perfect storm of conditions' exists within the Jehovah's Witness religion which allows sexual abuse of children to continually occur. These are:

  1) Repressive norms about masturbation and pre-marital sex.
  2) Patriarchy ideals.
  3) Barriers to women's equality.
  4) Erosion of social networks (Isolation).
  5) Social powerlessness of children.
  6) Weak criminal sanctions.
  7) Strong ideology of family sanctity.

  If something is not done about this, it will repeatedly happen. They are not going to give up their self-righteous deluded authority.

  hi, new here but have been lurking for a while.

  some background first, i am from the uk, 3rd gen born in, dad, grandad elders etc.

  17 years ago i left, no df or da just left, 18 years old and alone but i did it and have had no regrets.

  Welcome FAC! You are not overreacting. As "littlest one's" (I love this btw) parent you are the one responsible for the well-being and upbringing of your child. Indoctrinating a child into a cult is harmful. You are perfectly within your right to stop this.
  

  At some point in our lives, and it seems it's usually our adult lives, we have to establish boundaries with our JW families. It seems you have reached this juncture.

  there was/is a sister in my old hall who was a pharmaceutical sales rep and she was a huge proponent of anything in the drug industry.

  when someone had a headache, she was the first to say "take an asprin.

  " now my husband and i are what you might call old hippies.

  Eating healthy foods, drinking clean water, breathing clean air, and exercising are very important to maintaining good health. I can tell you though if you get some sort of bad infection, like a bladder infection, take the antibiotics.

  I have read that, if anything, eat organic foods that have a porous outer layer such as lettuces and eggs. Not all foods advertised as organic are actually organic. For other veggies such as potatoes or carrots, it's not as important. The best would be to grow your own and then you know for sure.
  

  Many of our medicines have been derived from plants ( Drugs From Plants ). If you are taking herbs for certain conditions be sure to educate yourself on them as they can have bad side effects as well. Some should not be taken with certain medications.
  

  As an example, for me, if I get an acidic stomach, it's usually because I haven't eaten enough fruits and veggies or I've eaten too much junk food (yeah I love junk food, particularly chocolate.). A quick fix I've found is eating an apple, having a hot peppermint tea, or taking some ground peppermint and powered ginger capsules that I put together myself (you can buy empty capsules in most health food stores). I try to find a natural alternative for certain situations, other situations I seek the help of a medical professional.

  Diogenesister, Turmeric is supposed to assist with inflammation. A warm drink of lemon, honey, turmeric, and cider vinegar may work some wonders for you.

  Had a operation today and was asked about blood transfusions.

  operation was successful only minor but some interesting information was revealed to me from the surgeon.l requested that they treat me as if l was a jehovahs witness with regards to blood transfusions.the doctor said well that varies from jw to jw and l asked what do you mean?his response was that in his dealings with jw's was that approx half of witnesses will accept a blood transfusion in life threatening circumstances and sign a form saying so.l was blown away when he told me this.l was curious if others in here have heard similar storys.lt seems to me that many witnesses have weakened their stance on this controversial subject.

  Didn't 'the Society' make blood transfusions a conscience matter a few years back, like when they came out with "it's ok to take 'blood fractions' " doctrine?

  If so, that would explain why there is a discrepancy among JWs. Many of the older JWs, such as my Father, ignored this and held steadfast to the 'blood is forbidden' ideal. Younger JWs don't seem to be all that enthusiastic anymore, particularly if it means they'll die.

  Proof of any Dragons

  does anybody have any proof of the existence of dragons?.

  we read in revelation about satan being the dragon, but aren't dragons mythological creatures?.

  There is a creature on this Earth that does, um, kinda shoot fire. It's from its butt.

  That would be the Bombardier Beetle. When threatened, bombardier beetles spray the suspected attacker with a boiling hot mixture of caustic chemicals. The predator hears a loud pop, then finds itself bathed in a cloud of toxins reaching 212° F (100° C). Even more impressive, the bombardier beetle can aim the poisonous eruption in the direction of the harasser.

  The beetle itself is not harmed by the fiery chemical reaction. Using two special chambers inside the abdomen, the bombardier beetle mixes potent chemicals and uses an enzymatic trigger to heat and release them.

  Animals were created without needing Toilet Paper ... but not Man ... Why???

  my dog and other pets do their "business" and run away and are happy.. man does not have that luxury.

  any thoughts on why animals were created with the "poop and go" capacity while man has to go through more steps?

  was this perhaps an additional issue that god added on when adam and eve sinned (such as eve having significant more birth pains)?
