Am saddened to hear of this. Kind of eerie that he too passed away from cancer at 69... just like Bowie.
I so enjoyed Rickman's characters.
alan rickman, best known to my generation as prof. severus snape from the harry potter film franchise, has passed away due to cancer at the age of 69.. growing up with a witness mother, anything related to science fiction and fantasy was looked down upon, so, naturally, i was a rebel rebel (oh david bowie...).. just wanted to let any potterheads know the news and that even if you feel like you'll never be free of the deadly watchtower, you're not alone and there's hope.. always..

we had the co a few weeks ago.
i waited a few weeks for time to pass to post.
we now have a new co. he started in september and his first visit to our congo was a little while ago.
Back in 2010, my Dad told me that the CO was coming. I said "Oh? And what does he do?"
Dad said "He comes to stir up trouble."
These guys sound like dickheads. 'Nuff said.
i know the arc is old news i know i am preaching to the converted but i had to express how i feel because most of my jw friends and family dont want to hear .
so this is how i feel.
i have faithfully served as a jehovahs witness for over 25 years..
is this true?
has anyone heard of it?
saw it on my facebook.. "jan. 6 bethel update 108 elderly bethelites getting the boot.. brooklyn, ny.
Jehovah's Witnesses are a religion for the young. When one gets old and no longer able to witness, one becomes useless to this performance based group. Can't you just feel the love?
Once again, this religion is not following Biblical scripture:
Psalm 71:9 (ESV) : "Do not cast me off in the time of old age; forsake me not when my strength is spent. "
so why has the growth flatlined?
why is less time spent in the ministry?
why have aux pios droped by 1/3rd?.
tdtt said: A few years ago I have a mid week talk and I mentioned the decline in baptisms since the peak in the 90s, and how much more time it takes to make 1 convert from service. I was just going over the yearbook stats to show the situation and the importance of being a real teacher. OMG people were stunned. Its really like they are drones, they were not even aware of the stats in the yearbook that they all love so much.
I really don't think a lot of diehard JWs do math. As a teenager I saw that their claims did not add up. I suspect a lot of JWs just don't do the thought processing required.
i remember growing up preparing for the number 2 talk and reading over the verses.
one time i had a chapter in joshua to read.
i started reading and i was like "wtf?
park ave boy... glad you saw through the BS at an early age. Kids can spot crap a mile off.
I find it fun to watch the faces of Christians when I show them nasty scriptures in the Bible. Many believers haven't read the Bible and are unaware of these since they are maneuvered through the Bible by the various religions they belong to. All religions cherry pick scriptures to support their agenda. Reading the Bible away from any influence is an eye opener. It tends to create non-believers.
this year i put a new ornament up on the tree.
what makes it special is that it is a picture frame ornament.
the picture inside the frame is a recent family photo of all the people i haven't seen in years standing in front of a hall.
* snicker *
" the opposite of knowledge is love".
the rebel.. i believe a poster named " cofty" once replied to my great thought " the opposite of knowlege is love" with the comment :-.
" bollocks" .
Actually, bollocks means testicles.
As a slang, which is the way cofty uses it, means nonsense (I'd use bullshit myself but nonsense suffices).
ok, at our recent assembly, i noticed that there were quite a lot of brothers wearing beards.
not just the older dudes, but right across a range of ages, young men, middle aged men and older men.
is watchtower beginning to relax this rule at last?
