  I feel that this line of questioning from the ARC was very important as it shows the Watchtower is not always willing to follow, literally, the scriptures in the Bible.

  Which negates a lot of what they say about 'oh we have to follow the Bible' and their bull shite answer of 'We need you to make reporting of child sex abuse mandatory' because of this scripture here (quotes Proverbs 25:8-10) that says don't take your neighbour to court because if you lose you'll be shamed. I feel this is such a lame ass defense, personally.

  How to give an anti witness on the ministry?

  i haven't turned in a report for months now.

  but if the elders start on me to go back out in the ministry i was thinking of giving an anti witness instead.

  by which i mean rather than the mags i could tell the house holder about the "loving provision of disfellowshipping" or maybe read them some of the many scriptures were god tells his people to commit ethnic cleansing, total genocide and raping of the captured girls.

  I think if you have to go out, start being an ambassador for common sense and logic, warning people about JWs.

  "Hi. I'm a JW because all my family are. I'm knocking on your door today because it is mandatory that I hand out literature and try to recruit you to join. I just wanted to let you know that they are a dangerous cult so my recommendation is to not join them. Here is their latest literature where I've marked some of their destructive statements/beliefs/ideas/doctrines. Hope you have a great day."

  The Org is terrified of apostates

  i knew apostasy was a serious concern for the org, but until i watched this video, i had no idea how afraid they actually were.

  all this guy wants is to do is not turn in his fs hours and immediately they (elders) set about drilling him about who are what influenced his decision, as if he was incapable of making his own (which as the elders confirm, in the org is highly discouraged).

  they are convinced he has been communicating with apostates or visiting apostate web sites.

  Meetings Are Really Getting Fun

  so last night i got to have some more fun at the meeting.. the serve us indoctrination session was thirty minutes of interrogation and answers about the "these words must be on your heart" video.. question three was, "what scriptural formula leads to the best chance of success in raising children?

  i'm still working my way through the videos..... this has probably been covered before but had anyone else ever heard them use this phrase before?

  not me... but it's a clever and as per usual misleading choice of words.. if they are indeed guardians of doctrine, they are very poor ones.

  if so jws would believe the same thing now that they did in 1879 and we all know that's not true.

  Excellent interview, Paul. I agree that removing the emotions and presenting hard facts and evidence is key to helping people who are mislead. My parents would often times get angry or snarky with me. I tried to remain calm in these situations and just continue with logical questions and statements. It showed who was being reasonable and who was not. Sometimes you can't convince them right off but it can help to at least plant seeds for them. It is their choice whether they wish to use those seeds to grow further.
  

  My advice to all young JW's is never get baptized. If you are to 'imitate Jesus' then wait until adulthood as he did. Luckily, my Mom believed the same. The teenage years are critical for children to develop their own identities. Baptism is unwise during this time. It was during this time period I began to doubt, not just JWs but all religion, the Bible, and God. If you don't get baptized, then you are not a formal, dedicated Jehovah's Witness, and therefore, you can't be disfellowshipped.
  

  As a teenager, I wasn't really aware of this legality to be honest. But I could not dedicate myself to a set of beliefs I did not agree with. So... I never got baptized. My parents did not shun me, although they did withdraw to a certain degree and they did treat me badly at times. But I think this was my saving grace in terms of being able to maintain a relationship with them.

  If jw's obeyed all of the bible commandments what would they be like?

  the jw's cite abstaining from blood along with other cherry picked commandments.

  but then ignore the others.

  this is very hippocritical and if they are going to obey one commandment they should be obeying the rest.. just as a bit of fun then... what would jw's be like if they obeyed every rule in the bible?.
