My Father has just past away
by caliber inyes my father has passed on sunday.... all my family brothers, sister, in-laws are jws .
it is occasions like this that.
make me see why i and countless others are just faders .. not taking that bold step of disassociation .

BTW, I was serious about those responses - I spotted the volcanic nature of the biblical god when I was 6 or 7 years old, and I'm vacillating between worshipping Goddesses (has been going extremely well, by the way...) and switching to worshipping the Rainbow Serpent....

Advice Please!!!!
by nevergonnab1 ini'm new here so i'll give a little background first.. i've never been a witness and i'll never be one.
my husband is but he hasn't been to any functions in about 15 years, i guess if he did start attending again he would be df'd because he impregnated a "worldly" girl (me) out of wedlock and then married a "worldly" girl (me again).. i need advice because his family relentlessly asks my children to attend and bribes them with very extravagant gifts.
i won't allow them to go so they stay pissed at me because they don't get the gifts.

Manipulation as its worst

She doesn't sound stable enough to be capable of raising a child properly...
I also agree with Tired of the Hypocrisy: "He should demand a pregnancy test before anything else happens..."
How does he know she's actually pregnant?? Plus, he should demand a paternity test if she actually is.....
I also agree with leavingwt: "It sounds to me as if marrying her would be a huge mistake." Yup, yup, yup! Don't even marry her for the kid's sake!!!
I also agree with marjoe: "don't forget the adoption option."
With regards to Rebel8's comment, if your brother's aim is to obtain custody of the child after it is born (assuming the pregnancy test comes back positive and the paternity test shows that it is his) - or if he is extremely kindhearted and wants to take care of someone else's baby - which I gather is not the case..... he should begin documenting her unstable behavior right now. Does he have the finances and electronics knowledge to obtain a good recording device???
He seriously needs to consult a lawyer - right now!!!

Another Newbie...

nice to see there are so many others out there who feel/felt how i feel.... long story short - i was born into it, started having doubts about age 6, but what can you do when you have over controlling parents whose only goal is to make you a pioneer and ship you off to bethel so you can be like your goody-two-shoe brothers.
suffered through my school years being bullied with no friends - parents made sure that i was very different from other kids inc how i dressed and even what i ate to the point where i was apparently known as the ugly hippie.

Can you sneak - or maybe not so sneak - your kids to a good Christian - what do they call it in other churches??? A "Nursery School" with non-threatening bible stories - a better Christian environment in a different religion that preaches real love (and not just Hellfire Above Ground Armageddon)?? Better 'audit' a few of those bible nursery schools if you can - find the most loving and benign version. That way, the kids - esp the little one - will have positive experiences with non-JW Christians that hopefully will offset the "all the world is evil and out to get you" mindset and brainwashing of the WTBTS Jehovah's Witnesses... Crap! Let me attempt this post in a more readable form:
I've lived at this particular address for 12 years, and the first time a JW came to my door I told them I was 'apostate', because I really didn't want to see them again.
But! They came back! Several times, in fact, over the years... However, last week I saw several of them in service on my block, and they significantly skipped my house. Since they had come back to my house after I told them I was apostate, I wonder which of the following comments actually succeeded in making them finally skip my house:
"No thanks, I no longer worship a death-oriented Middle Eastern male god..."
"No thanks, I no longer worship Middle Eastern male gods based on Holocene volcanic eruptions..." *
"No thanks, I decided to worship Goddesses instead because they've been worshipped for at least 20,000 years - ten times longer than Christianity..."
"No thanks, I decided to worship the Rainbow Serpent of the Aboriginal tribes of Austrailia, because that religion is the oldest on Earth (40,000 to 80,000 years old) and I figure that, IF there is a deity over the planet, it would be found in the OLDEST religion, not one of the Johnny-come-lately versions..."
An SCA** friend of mine was having a problem with some sort of painful skin condition one day. She found it most comfortable to wear an outfit from her wardrobe of Medieval costumes - in this case, something like the 'hair' shirts that monks wore in penitence - don't ask me why this was so comfortable!! Anyway, the doorbell rang, so she answered it, all 5'6" of her, in this 'hair' shift with her extremely long silver hair hanging down to her ankles. The Jehovah's Witnesses took one look at her and scattered like quail!!
