How HIGH did you climb the ranks as a JW? Did you like the STATUS?
by unshackled inso what were your biggest jw accomplishments as a rank & file?
curious as to what level you climbed the r&f ladder while in the org, or if you still are in.. did you regular pioneer, or auxiliary pioneer?

My aunt was one of them...an old hen that thought she ruled the other hens...with her rooster. Bad scene.
So she tried to rule the roost by virtue of the position of the cock, but no one established the pecking order??

I regular pioneered and went to pioneer school when I was still single. I wasn't much for commenting. I hated it, actually. Didn't marry anyone who was of importance (actually, he was inactive when we got married). He did start reaching out a couple of years later and had been considered for MS, but the elders felt he wasn't ready and they were wary because of his former "apostate tendencies"...but he had the balls to say he didn't make MS because of ME! Ass.
I have to say I absolutely DESPISED the attention I got being a pioneer. Everything was scrutinized...my speech, my dress, my choices of entertainment...EVERYTHING! I hated that the older pioneers counselled me on my dress. I liked high platform shoes and long skirts (with a modest slit in the leg). I was never showing a ton of skin or anything and I knew some elder's wives who dressed like absolute trollops who no one ever said a damn thing to!

Your Age at Baptism (into JWs, not Catholics or Baptists - duh)
by undercover inleavingwt mentioned on another thread the age of his wife when she was baptized.
she was a child.
how can you expect a child to make such a decision?.
-

undercover, I used the VERY SAME line of reasoning with my ex when explaining to him my wishes that he not encourage our children to get baptized before they were adults... He agreed with the reasoning, but then said he was a teen and he was ready... Um, no he wasn't. He thinks he was NOW, but he told me and showed in his behavior MANY times that he most definitely was NOT ready at that time. Nor was he ready to get married in his early 20's (neither was I).
I was 13 when I got baptized. I did it because everyone else my age was and also because I thought it would "clear up" the doubts I had because then I'd have "holy spirit" helping me for sure!! And I'd be accepted in our congregation (finally). I'd be a part of the club, I wouldn't be treated like chattal, I'd have FRIENDS.
Yeah...right...

Why are so many of us drawn to heavy metal themes!
by Star tiger inhi all,.
i think it's just that we think in heroic themes!!.

I just love the overall themes of most metal music. Combined with the poetic way that most of the ideas are presented, along with the amazing instrumentals, makes it my favorite genre of music...
Plus it's just friggin' adrenalizing!!!

So, in other words, the JW's mercifully bullshit people into thinking that all their troubles will be gone...only to give them MORE troubles (meetings, field circus, talks, not fitting in with the cliques, etc) heaped on their already overflowing plates. What a gift!! And since every JW was given this "gift" and passes it on, does that make them all re-gifters??

My Grandma's dying...I found out by way of an impersonal text message.
by petitebrunette inyesterday at work i received a text message from my sister that my 91 yr old grandmother is unconscious, her organs are shutting down, and they're just keeping her comfortable.
she said that they moved her to a group home, and gave me the address.
i thanked her for letting me know.

I'm sorry about your grandma...and sorry you had to find out this way. I'm going to agree with the others...if you had a good relationship with your grandma, you may want to pay your respects so you will not have any regrets. If not, I say screw the lot of them and don't worry about their judgments.
@ sir82, I'm nose-ringed, spiky-haired, and soon-to-be tattooed...never did the coke thing, and happy to be female lmao. I guess I proved them right on a few points, eh?

I'm interested to know how the exchange went... I get the PTSD whenever I hear dub-speak. The last time I was in a conversation with a JW, I broke down crying and gasping, begging them to please please STOP, NO MORE!!

Like flipper and TheLoveDoctor, anything I had that was "questionable" was hidden from the ex. I remember when Twilight first came out, I went to see it with a "sister"...and I became interested in reading the books. I knew my ex wouldn't allow it. So I bought it and hid it and would read it when he wasn't home. Same thing with movies.
I once bought an aerobic bellydance workout DVD and he saw it and made me trash it because he said it was TOO EROTIC!! Good thing he never knew about my Carmen Electra Aerobic Striptease video...

Was Judas Present During "The Lord's Evening Meal"?
by dontplaceliterature inso...i heard the speaker during the memorial mention this.
he said for a fact, that judas would not have been present.
however, upon reading luke 22, you see clearly that the argument about judas started after jesus instituted the new covenant.

I do believe Judas was present. I never used to think that because of Watchtower teaching. I always thought DaVinci's Last Supper was inaccurate because there were 13 people present... Now I feel it's inaccurate because there should have been 14 (one of the people in the painting seems to be a woman...the men are all very masculine-looking, even with long hair...this person has a very feminine face, as well as folded hands and demure down-cast eyes...plus, her robes are the same colors as Jesus', but are inverse...if Judas was there, that would make 14 people present. I do believe Jesus was married and this was his wife and I believe he did have children as well).
Anywho, it doesn't make sense to me that Judas would have been dismissed for such an important occasion. The other apostles would have wondered why the heck one of the twelve was not partaking.
Interestingly, this part always confused me...until I realized the folly of the WTBS. Jesus is said to have been god's son...but not divine. If that's the case, then how could he have been able to read Judas' heart to know he would betray him?? So, according to the bible itself, Jesus was divine. None of the other apostles were endowed with the ability to read hearts. While they made predictions and prophecies, healed and cured, etc, I've never read anywhere that said they were given the ability to know someone's heart. While I think that the bible itself is canonized to perpetuate the myth of Jesus' divinity, I think that even in interpreting such myth, the WTBS has it all wrong.
