Paul, leading authority on Christianity, does NOT quote Jesus!

paul's letters practically invent christianity.. the gospels trickled in after him.. paul never walked with jesus and yet explains him.. never a quote from the master at all.. yet, paul is such a maven.. if jesus couldn't be bothered to actually reveal what he was all about to his apostles with whom he ate, drank, spoke and slept---why this persecutor, saul?.

the apostles heard every word jesus spoke and were willing to die for him.. paul didn't--yet--miraculously explained every detail of the entire history of god's purpose including his messiah.. .

can anybody provide a non-gimmick answer?.

jay88, you make an interesting point. Paul was like a russell or rutherford in his interpretation of old testament writings. It is clear in his own writings that people were definitely challenging his position and teaching such as in Galatians. He even went so far as to say that no man had taught but recieved his teaching directly from Christ.

He even said that if anyone accepted another gospel or brought another, they would be accursed. Its kinda like the organization saying that if anyone accepts another teaching not from them it is apostasy and the person will be accursed.

I would recommend reading " Jesus' Words Only or Was Paul the Apostle Jesus Condemns in Revelation 2:2" by Douglas del Tondo. The Pdf is available to be read for free at http://www.jesuswordsonly.com/JWO/freechaptersonline.html. If anyone reads it let us know what you thought. It covers not only biblical but also non-canonical and historical sources to dig into Paul's history and his errors in issues with regards to the jewish Law and with the other apostles, namely the Jerusalem council.

Robert Eisenman has some good reads on this subject as well.

In all honesty, I actually think they would like to see me back. I didn't leave on bad terms and I had good relations with everyone. I just didn't believe the same. I left pretty abrupt and didn't inform anyone of leaving, accept my family a few days before turning in my letter of DA. PVT81

The upholding of Islamic principles and law including its regulations and punishments as opposed to man made law. The problem with the taliban is that they enforce them at times in extreme ways. I will admit that democracy is not compatible with Islamic Law.

While certainly don't agree with the ideaology of Osama bin Laden or some of the practices of the taliban, I find this post to be a little offensive.

What this post as well as material all over the internet and media show is the fear that is creeping into western society regarding the expansion of Islam. The Islamic revival is happenening and it will enter into every house even though people hate it. That is a promise from the Creator.

"They want to extinguish Allah's Light with their mouths, but Allah will not allow except that His Light should be perfected even though the Kafirun (disbelievers) hate (it)."

Quillsky, I'd like to thank you for some of your comments and shared information about this subject.

I'm am an Ex-JW who converted to Islam a year and a half ago. I have to say that while some things are true there is quite a bit that is untrue. I certainly don't deny some horrible things have happened to muslim women at the hands of other muslims, but it certainly isn't based upon Shari'a Law. The problem is that many many Muslims are very ignorant concerning it and its application.

What many people seem to ignore is that the Prophet, peace be upon him, actually greatly improved women's status in comparison to pre-Islamic times. He united the arab tribes and ended ignorant tribalism, stopped unjust interest and extortion among other things.

Maybe someday I'll share my story of how I came to Islam if I could just get the time.

daniel-p, I did read through some of the article and the major points. While others don,t agree, and thats fine, I don't find nothing wrong with these laws. A believer hears and obeys, nothing more.

Are you a christian? If so, do you believe that God inspired the Mosaic Laws. If your answer is yes, do you believe that those laws were just and righteous? The reason I ask is because many of the laws found in Shariah Law are also found in Mosaic Law. Many are in fact identical. It always amazes me how christians begin to attack Islam as barbaric when they believe God had revealed similar laws before. If Islam is wrong for its apparent harshness then one must conclude that the religion and laws of the israelites also was. The mosaic law even encouraged ethnic cleasing and instructed them to annihilate entire nations, men, women, children, and domestic animal, not that I necessarily believe that God really said that. The Israelites also fought Jihad to defend there religion and releigious freedoms and to endure their own existence. They executed adulterers and apostates even their lazy children, which is over the top.

The point is, many may not like the laws, especially in a secularized society where religion is not the focal point. However, the accusation that God would never inspire such a law is baseless since He has already done so previously. The Mosaic Law was for the nation of Israel where as the Shariah Law was given to mankind as a whole through the prophet sent to all, Muhammad, peace be upon him.

SirNose586, I understand what you are saying and its true that there is no leader that can speak for the muslims as a whole, although there should be what we call a Khalifah or caliphate (muslim ruler or leader). There hasn't been one since 1924 when the secularized Turks destoryed the position.

As a muslim and convert to Islam, I felt some obligation to respond to this thread. While I certainly understand some points of views, there are others that I don't agree with.

With regards to the pbs documentary, I've not seen it. However, I can say that this is absolutely forbidden by Islamic Law and such an offender might even receive execution as a punishment. While I don't necessarily agree with the Taliban's harsh interpretation of Islamic law, it is agreeable that they still brought some stability where the warlords previously in power only brought chaos, infighting and immorality . Unfortunately those very same warlords are now in control again thanks to the US invasion. We shouldn't confuse cultural practices, which may run contrary to Islam, with Islam.

The truth is there are many more instances of rape, adultery, kidnappings, drug dealing, etc... in the supposed christian countries than in muslim ones. Our laws may be harsh to some, but they serve to keep stability and piety within the islamic society similar to the ways the laws of the Torah were made to keep order in a righteous God fearing society. That is of course where the islamic laws are truly being practiced which is not in many countries currently but will be someday again.

About the south park issue, many muslims and myself find it offensive when they might mock or belittle any of the prophets, including Jesus, Moses, or Abraham, etc... With regard to acid being thrown into the faces of girls, then all I have to say is that this has nothing to do with what is actually based in the Quran or the teachings of the prophet, peace be upon him. There are many muslims who are ignorant about islamic laws and rulings, but praise Allah, the Exalted, much of the younger generations are learning and God willing that will increase.

If anyone has questions regarding Islam or muslim practices, ask me or someone who lives it before you judge.
