A happy people?
by myself inviewing the tennesseans article today "disfellowship described as being 'worse then death'" one of my co-workers asked if this was true.. i told him that many have viewed it that way in different aspects.
some have been driven to suicide because of not knowing how to deal with the prospect of being df'd.
they are cut off from their family, and the only people they have really been allowed to associate with as friends.. this brought out a question from my husband on the way home from work tonight: "are jehovah's witnesses really a happy group of people?".

Patricia interesting points. If I were sure I was going to remain married I would go back but for different reasons. Mostly to be a source of refreshment to those still in and to become an elder and prevent as many dfing as possible.
But my purpose in leaving isnt to get people out. My purpose in staying away isnt to get people out. I know most here consider christianity a fine thing and left because JW doctrine did not agree with the bible. I simply left because they did not fess up to their mistakes and I realized the claim that they were a religion of truth from a god of truth were not true. I researched. Most have not done the same research of christianity that they have done of the witnesses. If they had there is almost no one conceivable reason in my mind that they could remain a christian.
But it is not my duty to inform them of this. Nor is it my duty to save them from possibly one of the most wicked institutions on the planet (christianity). The fabled founder of christianity is claimed to have stated "Cast not your pearls before swine lest then trample them, then turn and rend you also." Which is exactly what occurs when you try to save people, even subtly, who do not wish to be saved.
My soul has been given to the Goddess. She sent her daughter to earth to die for my sins. I have accepted her into my heart. And, unlike christians, her doctrine doesnt force me to tell anyone about it. At the moment that anyone is ready, she draws such a one to her. And then she sends them to me. Not before will I lift a finger for they are simply not ready.

by Eutapro ini must say that as a neutral scientific observer of this site--it seems that things are kind of one-sided here.
i thought this was a board with both devout jws and ex-jws on it.
on further reflection it appears that this medium of communication should probably be called ex-jw.com.

Because the words of the bible DO STAND OUT. THAT is what we have been telling you. But not from THAT angle. Go to new york and then AFTER you have seen the damned thing come back here. The person that took the photo, took it from an angle making the other more prominent, it is a standard photographic technique.
Nathan. Ive only posted a few falacious arguements today. So no worries. But it seemed like several threads in a row were silly ad hominems and I was pulling my hair out. This is one of the reasons I said many on this board are weak ass whiney MFers. Just looking for anything to complain about. I wont apologize that I cant relate to that. Even stuff that hurt my feelings or ticked me off when I was a witness, were not necessarily wrong. I felt like that then and I feel like it now. And even when something, like this sign issue, is explained to folks, they still try to put it in the worst possible light.
Like I said earlier. Complain about complainable stuff. Let the other stuff pass. Its pointless.

I was pretty happy as a JW. Shit happens but oh well. I thnk it is just that I am pretty much oblivious to everything around me. Time just sorta passes. Life like totally kicks ass. Even for some witnesses.
