I don't vote either, beerose. I also don't agree with the war, and neither does my husband. BUT...he does his job and I support him in it because that's what we signed up to do (him by joining the military and me by marrying him). We appreciate your thanks and support!
Sacolton...thanks. LOL No, I've never been a Mormon and DO believe in birth control. If I didn't I'd have a lot more than six kids! -

for all you evil smokers
by bigdreaux ini just got back from an expo show and wanted to tell everyone about a product i bought i think is really cool.
i don't have a vested interest in it, i just want to share it with others.
it's a smoke free electronic "cigarette" it's a vapor that doesn't smell and gives you a nicotene fix.

That sounds really cool! I don't have the immediate cash to get a starter pack just yet, but will definitely look into getting one come tax time at the beginning of next year. Look forward to hearing how you like it, bigdreaux!

That's great Bumble Bee...go and have a BLAST!!!
I watched a YouTube video of this guy who had an Elder call him about him and his wife having b-day pictures for their little one on the internet that some "witnesses" had seen (they had faded for at least a year, I think). The video was audio of the messages left and conversations had with the Elder about the "situation"...along with a slideshow of text thoughts and pictures of the party in question. For the one showing the kid's presents he said something about the possibility of John the Baptist's head being in one of the boxes...had me in stitches! hahahahaha

Suggestions on how to properly get disfellowshiped
by IreallydidwalkoutofaKH inhere is how i would like to get df'd.
during the service meeting of cource the announcement would be made.
i would like to walk in the meeting during the song (preferably..."then they will know") leading up to the the announcements and walk to my seat in the front of the kingdom hall dressed as darth vader.

LOL Hortensia...I am SO tempted to attend the KH down the road from me dressed like a common whore. Since they don't know me or that I'm DFed I could play off the whole "I was just looking for some religion" thing...all the while having a blast giving them a run for their "moral" money. hehehe I have a video camera...I could probably buy a cheap purse, cut a small hole in it, and video all the reactions! That sounds SO fun right about now...

I just came from my elder's meeting
by BonaFide injust to review, i had my meeting today with the two elders who say a sister has accused me of "grinding" with her and thus porneia.
so i printed out several of your comments on how to defend myself.
i felt good about standing my ground, and repeating that i had not "grinded" with this ex-friend and that she wants to ruin the relationship i have now with the sister i am dating.. however, the two elders today really tried to pressure me.

No kidding, that's how Yikes got out of being DFed. He started naming off all the Elders' daughters he'd messed around with...they swept everything under the rug and let him fade into the sunset. :D

Just got a phone call...
by amama2six inmy oldest daughter (who is currently up in ct) just called to tell me my stepmother (wicked witch of the west) was in an accident yesterday evening.
she was riding a moped and crashed it into a parked car (don't ask me what an overweight 53 year old woman with bad knees is doing on a moped but whatever...supposed to save on the cost of gas or something).
anyway...she shattered her right leg and wrist in the accident (her good walking side) and apparently will never be the same.

Well I tried to change my picture and I can't figure out how, so it will have to continue looking like my neck is jacked up...whatever. So anyway, I wanted to just get back on to the topic at hand but apparently my update got lost in all the chiropractic chatter. :(

My stepmother was supposed to have surgery yesterday morning, so I called today to see how she was doing. My Dad said they delayed the surgery until Monday because she lost so much blood in the accident...three units. I guess this means that despite being inactive for probably over 10 years she's still sticking to the no-blood rule...otherwise wouldn't they just throw a few bags in her and go for the surgery?
Apparently the bone in her upper leg (above the knee) is toast...they can't even put rods in it at this point because it's broken up so bad. She's getting plates instead, then they'll try to piece the bone back together in there and I guess hope it grow back over time. Also, her wrist popped out of place, they put it back but the bone there is also broken in four different places so she'll need surgery on it at the same time as the leg.
She will spend at least another 4-6 weeks in the hospital, then transfer over to a convalescent home for around 3-4 months before finally being able to go back home. That's if everything goes as planned, which of course it might not.
I'm not going up there just yet in light of the fact that she'll be in there so long and I really don't have the money for it. I told my daughter I'll make it a point to head up there within the next few months, though. For now I'm just staying in touch with my Dad and told him to tell her I loved her and was thinking about her. I'll probably try to call her tomorrow before she heads in to surgery on Monday just in case something goes wrong and she doesn't make it (her doctor said the surgery is definitely "life-threatening" and she's not the healthiest person on the planet). I'll let you all know what happens after that!
Thanks again for all the thoughts and advice, I really appreciate it!

Question from a recent JW Wake
by robhic ini used to be involved with a woman who was a (not very good) jw.
we hadn't seen each other for a few years and last month her sister called me to inform me she had died.
she had been living in a nursing home for years so this event was not unexpected.

Maybe it was taped for members who were unable to attend the wake.
I always remember wakes being discouraged (especially open-casket...one sister was frowned upon for having an open-casket funeral for her 3 yo son who died of liver cancer even though it appeared it was mostly to appease her non-believing husband). The preferred method was cremation and a funeral talk at the KH...nobody even going to the gravesite afterward or anything. It kept costs at a minimum; less money spent on caskets and elaborate wake/funeral proceedings meant more money could go into the donation boxes instead. I remember loved ones of the deceased asking people to donate to the hall instead of the family. Giess they thought (or were told) this was the more "christian" way to handle things and would be what their deceased JW family member would have wanted.
