sisters wearing pants/trousers?

my sister-in-law has recently gone back to the org :-(.

she has been wearing trousers (pants to us members ) now she has been told to expect a shepherding call from one of the elders about her style of dress!.

has anyone any good ideas or even scriptural comments that she could use.. .

In one of the dramas I think it was this year -- my memory is not too good as I dont listen half time but during the Family study portion a sister was wearing slacks,pants, whatever which kind of took me back.. apparently its ok then, but not for the meetings where we are to show respect?? I dont really mind that as it is a time to dress up and use clothes I dont normally use - mostly I am in slacks, shorts, etc... so when I get a chance to doll up, thats what I do anyway and NO you cant win this one -- harken back to recent WT's where the mom is in an apron in the kitchen.... make me gag and then another pict where the father is studying with their two boys and she again is in the background, in the kitchen with an apron on-- I thought that was representing a Family study - yet the mother was not in the study???

There is no bending on this as far as I can see... its a shame, she should just go as an interested person, yet down the road things will definitely change...

Lonliness can cause a lot of heartache and as you get older, there is no one to turn too... even if she came back, she would still be alone, even if she wore a skirt... a single woman without a man on her arm is just not " worthy" unless she has pioneered all her life... Thats the facts. Just ask any single mother, widow, woman...

Altho I am not commenting much, I have to totally agree with Balsamass and Ynot to the point of tears almost. They have touched on a lot of points re changes.

Those were the days when you visited on sundays for lunch or dinners with folks, sat around the table and openly discussed various points of the talk or the tower and didn't have any fear of someone looking sideways to lable you as spiritually sick or humm, close to apostate material.

The assemblies with the meals, everyone pitching in and having a great time, trucking in the portable kitchen materials, servers - yes, it was a lot of work and they used the excuse to get rid of it all so we could all sit in the auditoriums and hear the programs. This at the time they always had speakers placed accordingly to all to hear, kitchen prep- areas... We all knew it was a massive effort but hey, the US Army would visit just to see how good JW's were at feeding thousands in 2 hours!!! At least we set some examples...and there was good fun doing it!

there were the picnics by a lake where the kids had a good time with their parents - forget the technology - visits all the time by everyone, seems like today, no one gets a call unless they are away from meetings for months.. could be dead by that time- nowadays, its get togethers at wedding and funerals...

I was proud to be a JW, and for that paid with most of my family as they were not in the truth, now they are gone and we are standing on an island waiting..... for the next shoe to drop- for more changes to be made, for what some men in NY will direct who have taken the place of Jesus and made themselves our mediator cause we are not of the world that Jesus said he was dying for...to know that the word generation means there could be no end to this system in our time, yet be told that its "here" --"just around the corner"- I am not a doubter that something is coming, and soon it will be 100 years in earthtime that Jesus is supposed to have been ruling from the heavens - a date that was bumped up from 1874 when his rule was to have begun -- but I truly believe that as the world continues to hang on by its fingertips, it could be a long time yet

The perceived stability is gone and replaced with unknowing instability that borders on insanity- and when you throw in a belief system with it, we are still captured

Oh there is so much more but it has all been beaten to death -the only thing is it is good to get it off your chest once in awhile..

i was cruising around last month and saw a review of this article - but cannot remember where it was shown that the picture of the feet/toes was crushed in earlier mags.. can anyone help?

i searched under the mag but cant locate exactly where it was shown years ago.. .

Did not the WT have a QTR about the second sealing of the anointed? No one mentioned that at the meeting - they only spoke about the first sealing and remaining faithful. I thought that they get a second seal when they prove "true" and die "without sinning"?

", i said "no" then he said "why not, you know we're near the end".

Last year a family of 7 left - husbands and wives - they all went at the same time

This month , 5 left in various congs. -again husbands AND wives

When you look at less getting baptized during the assemblies - they are going out as fast as coming in

Medical Marijuana, Your opinion please?

do any of you use medical marijuana?

i go to aa and there are a few who believe medical marijuana is an "outside issue" and they are ok with it.

i don't know... alcohol doesn't work for me but if it did, i would use it... i wish i could find a "new drug" that works lol.

A relative has MMJ and is licensed to grow his own, quanity is monitored, got stopped by police and they checked his license and found it ok

has it for chronic pain, insomnia, emotional distress - has a certain type which as I understand, there are many types, that controls the pain issues.

The only reason it was banned in the first place back in the early 1900's was because of the rising dependability on alcohol and the heavies behind the distribution of it.. currently, medications for pain, etc. are being made out of MJ and it is reported that legal pain killers can be prescribed by dr's .. apparently there is a hue and cry to have it legalized in many states and provinces of Canada and US.. after all, wasn't Coca Cola using cocaine in their original ingredients... cough med was also laced with drugs..

Hemp was so closely related to Mj that they even stopped growing that - a miracle plant that could stop starvation , have so many uses that it would put some companies out of business today..and clean the earth of pollution, because of those dear cronies in govt who felt it was akin to MJ - you can only grow that with a govt license.
