Satanus, is that another name for zoroastrianism? If so, then I agree, much of modern religious conceptions of evil have their origins in zoroastrianism. That's a really good point BTW!

Good vs Evil.....does the existence of God prove the existence of Satan?
by wings indoes not believing in god bring evil down to a simple explanation of the conflict that is within every human being.
seems to me the "force" is at work in the world, and the "force" is both good and evil.
sometimes it is easier for me to believe in the existence of satan than the existence of god.

I was looking up the definition of evil and I found this quote...
"the evil that men do lives after them; the good is oft interred with their bones"- Shakespeare
I thought that was very apropos in a religious sense! I suppose the issue is that the existence of God or Satan cannot be proven; it is a matter of faith... However if you believe in God, belief in Satan explains why bad things happen... If it's good, it's God, if it's not it must be Satan...
In the current system of things (I'm not saying there is any other system, I just don't know), good and evil exist simultaneously, there is no pure good and no pure evil... It's the yin and the yang. Even when you look at God... According to the Bible, blood sacrifice was acceptable (at least in the OT), and it was okay to wipe everyone out but Noah in a flood. Could that not be construed as an evil act? And Satan... Why DID he lure Eve to eat that apple? So that she and Adam would have knowledge of good and evil?? Is knowing good from evil, evil?

I think a bit of ego is permissable! All of you are like Jean Luc Picard, escaping the collective... Only without the Starship Enterprise for backup... (wow, I sound like a Trekker, Trekkie, Trekonaut whatever the heck they call those folks). Anyone seen Trekkers??

Will the WTBTS ever become mainstream like the WWCG?
by donny inback during the 80's and 90's, i occasionally heard statements lumping the society in with the likes of the worldwide church of god who had very similar teachings and even believed in 1975 as being a year that god would act (1975 in prophecy!
by herbert w. armstrong).
clearly the roots of the wwcg were from the same as the societys and both groups were viewed as cults.

Based on everything I've read, I'm inclined to believe what Baba Yaga said. If anything, they are becoming more unconventional with their doctrines and exclusivist m entality. Since they were unconventional to begin with this is no small feat...

I've decided to become a JWD groupie... I was thinking fan club, newsletter with biographies and features, perhaps an annual convention I have so much admiration for all of you who have voluntarily left the "borg", either in mind, body or both. It takes tremendous courage to do what you have done and to continue to stand up for what you believe. You've given me a small little bit of hope that my friend may someday see the truth. I take my hat off to each and every one of you... You have taken the "road less traveled by" and that has made all the difference! (uh, thanks to Robert Frost for that last bit)
