Today is the day I sent info about Watchtower to my Dub friend

oh boy.

well, today i sent sites regarding un, silent lambs, missile stock, voting, other jw stuff...about 8 links.

to my friend that i said i wanted to help see watchtower for what it is.. i also told him to be careful....that if he asks hall about it they will say it is apostate or from satan, etc....and to think for himself.. i hope he does not decide i am too dangerous to be friends with.. i would appreciate prayers from any of you who would do so.

My Becoming a JW

i was raised non-religious.

i don't call myself an atheist as such because i don't like to label anyone, but i don't actually believe in god (though i am christian in background, and several branches of family family are roman catholic).

my fiance knows this.

There are many, many things you need to know.

That's putting it lightly.

Well, let's see........I was raised a JW, so I can give you some of the details and what is required, but you won't truely "get it" untill you have lived it, believe me, and let me tell you......it isn't pretty!

JW's don't........salute the flag, celebrate ANY holidays, take blood (even in life or death situations, they choose death), give blood, believe in trinity, believe in hell fire, don't believe someone is raped unless they have 2 eye witnesses to the fact, believe a child is molested unless they have 2 eye witnesses to the fact, frown on oral sex, just to name a few.

JW's go to meetings at least 3 times a week, preach from door to door trying to convert as many as they can, listen and follow anything a group of old men in NYC as being the mouth piece of god so they never ? what they say (they are refered to as the governing body).

To sum it up, cause I know others will give you alot more info too, it is all about control!!!!

If you are the wife in a marriage, anything your husband tells you, you have to do. If you don't you are counseled about not being a submissive wife.

The list goes on!!!

If you don't believe in god at all, then DON'T convert!!!!!! Their WHOLE LIVES revolve around "Jehovah/God", and anything and everything they do is to "serve" him.

DON'T CONVERT!!!!!! If you choose to, judging from what you have posted.........you will be MISERABLE!!!!!!!

The reason your fiance' is feeling so strongly about you converting, is because JW's aren't supposed to marry outside of the JW's. So, if you convert, he won't be looked down upon by his fellow JW's.

LE and WT in Dallas this weekend......who eles wants to hook up?

we will be in dallas on friday, to hook up with a few to go to billybob's or some other dance place.. i think sloan is going, for sure,,,,,,,,what about anyone eles?.

we are taking the kids to six flags on saturday,,,,,,,,so anyone who wants to meet up for that let me know also.. calling out to all the dallas folks here: jesika, valis, six, megadude, roo, jade, navigator, big tex, cruzan, billygoat , mozzer.......anyone who wants to, i will send you a pm with our cell number on it, so we can get together and find a meeting place for friday night.

Well of course I would LOVE to hook up!!!!

I have to work on Friday, but I don't go in till 5pm and get off at 11pmish, I may find someone to cover me so I can get off earlier.

So, I can make happy hr, depending on how early you all want to get started and where it is, I can also meet up later after I get off work, I know you guys don't get to be THAT early!!!

but I am playing devils advocate for a sec...........is it right to post this with the person's email addy out in the open like that???

I mean if they are a JW on the fence, some of the JW lurkers may recognize it and it could cause a problem for them and stop them from researching due to feeling betrayed.

Matt Noel: Leaves A Positive Impression

honestly, i could not help myself.. since i have been on this forum since january of this year, i have encountered many fine and wonderful people.

this forum (thanks simon) has been a very welcoming and good place for me to venture to on a daily basis.. when mattnoel joined this forum, he was very discreet, and mild mannered.. one day, he took a very brave step and 'came out' on this forum.. i was not only impressed with his courage, but his honesty and general demeanor.

in my opinion, matt has left a very positive impression, and he (yes matt) enabled me to be more frank and honest about my own sexuality.. it's not that anything needs to be dangled or shoved into anyones face.

her 27 year old son is getting married in two weeks, and she posted a few days ago about how he didn't invite her to his wedding.. she told me i can post it as she doesn't want to read it again.. "dear mom.

well, we are sitting at the computers and he told me he was growing hair under his arms.

i just shook my head and said ok

well, i guess he could tell i didn't really believe him, so he pulled one out and showed it to me lol!

Ok, I forgot to mention I did tell him I wanted to post about this and got his "ok" before I posted it, then he wants to turn around and get embarressed LOL.

I am very glad he feels ok talking with me about these things and I just hope I don't do anything to change that.

My little boy told me "mom, ya you can tell them about me becoming a man", I almost cried at the thought of him not being "little" anymore.

Thank you all for your thoughts, and I will let soulweaver read this when he comes over again, he is back at his dad's cause I have to work, but I will let him read all of your comments that I feel are ok for him to read.
