Interesting... I had just graduated when I began to study and yes, them having "all the answers" appealed to me. One of my relatives began to study when her parent's health started deteriorating. And I helped "encourage" her into "The Truth". As much as I regret it now, I realize that I thought I was doing her a BIG favor at that time. Now I want to help her wake up.

What Makes a Person Vulnerable to Join a Cult ? By Steve Hassan
by flipper inmost of us often wonder with amazement how we ever got caught up in the jehovah's witnesses mind control after having been out for awhile.
and we still wonder how some of our relatives stay trapped inside it.
well, steve hassans book " releasing the bonds " explains briefly in chapter 4 how it can happen.

Do You Feel Bad For Witnesses Who Are Still In?
by minimus ini think it's such a waste of time, energy and life.
no question.
i feel better about being out of "the truth" than ever before!.

Yes I feel for some who are in the bOrg. The shameful things done by witnesses is not by their own volition. They are controlled robots, as some of us were.

Have you ever noticed that JWs do things half-assed?
by sacolton ini'm serious.
every jw i know doesn't take any pride in his work or hobbies.
always a rush job (half-assed).. anyone notice this?.

Yes, I noticed this and I feel into the habbit while I was active. I felt like excelling in my profession would make me "double-hearted". Now I go beyond the call of duty at work and in other pursuits and it feels good!!

Here's to you!
by purpleplus injw's have been taught that toasting is of pagan origin.
by accident i came across the origins of the custom.
in ancient greece the host would raise his glass after taking the first sip of wine, indicating that the wine is safe to drink, hence the common dedication "to your health" or something like that.

In Ancient Greece the host would raise his glass after taking the first sip of wine, indicating that the wine is safe to drink, hence the common dedication "to your health" or something like that. The Ancient Romans put pieces of burnt bread, toast, in their wine. The charcoal in the burnt bread absorbed any unwanted acids and made the wine more palatable. What is so objectionable about that? Share this "new light" with active dubs and see what happens.

Small joys
by heybaby inyou know how there are somethings that give you so much pleasure or joy?
it doesn't have to be anything amazing or huge, but for some reason it makes you so happy for those few moments.
some of mine are drinking coffee in the morning with my best friend at work, and the smell of an open fire (it reminds me of being a young child at my grandparents' house).

A good meal and a good song are my regular sources of joy. I also take delight in beautiful flowers, achitecture, and lake views!

Scan Requests! Plz hlp.
by Darklighter ini've made up my mind... even though the odds of success don't bode well (this is sadly due to her extremely strong familial connections and not super-loyalty to the org.
), i'm going to try to get my wife out by showing her my huge stack of watchtower lies, false prophecy, and idiocy.
i just need to complete my documentation on 607 bce with some good research from the local library, but that's not where i need help.

Thank you for these scans. It makes since that the WT would down play older publications. And these erroneous ideas were printed after "Christ's inspection"? Yeah, right.

Why is it not enough for them?
by KW13 inwhy is it not enough for witnesses when you tell them that you made the choice not to be a witness yourself and for you, and your family if you have one?
surely they must see that its not quick, rushed, evil or anything if they take into consideration that it affects whether or not you live forever, how you live and all kinds of things and that a matter of life and death from their perspective and yours isnt made lightly?.
i love my wife and son and my mother.

For reasons previously stated in this thread, I have not had a candid conversation with my loved ones in to borg. I want to be honest and sincere in expressing myself, but NOTHING I say would be good enough. Unless they are ready, they will not receive the truth about "The Trooth".

Do You Feel Better Because You Post On EXJW Boards?
by minimus inin reality, is it a good thing, in the long run?
should the purpose of a board to be to give the person needed help and then the person should just move on?.
does being on a discussion board like this mean that you aren't really getting on in your life?.
-
purpleplus
Yes! This board is an outlet for me since I don't have friends that can relate to borg experience. Like Mrs. Jones said, as a result of coming here I knew I was in my right mind when I woke up.

Name something that JWs believe in that isn't in the Bible
by Awakened at Gilead inmy favorites are:.
"paradise earth": not in the bible.
"great crowd" of "other sheep" - two unrelated texts... put them together, and voila!, you just changed the destiny of millions!.

Rap music is evil. One elder read it "from the outline" like that was supposed to make it official. Granted, I don't like most of the rap that's out now. But I will not give up the stuff that I do enjoy (The Roots, Panacea, Common, etc). I just made sure not to listen to it when certain people were around.
