i have plans (and a life) but i said i'd go there on the weekend as i can't take short notice time from my studie and work.

Testimony card returns
by sir82 inold timers, or careful readers of the proclaimers book, are familiar with the "testimony card" used in the early days of rutherford-era door to door witnessing.
the jw would traipse up to a house, knock, hand the card over to the householder, and wait while he read it.. well, it seems that "everything old is new again".
here is an excerpt from a recent boe letter:.

Last week it was announce that we now have a new method to advertise the JW.ORG by using new business cards that will be available to us soon. They do not count as distributed tracts.
One brother from London was telling us how the website is popular with age group 18-35 - he needs someone to explain popularity (Clash of Clans is popular). They stop them and ask them: Do you know which is the latest website in 600+ languages. The guy is interested and they ask them to scan the QR code. Then it is on the phone and can check it later.
So what does this mean, if they stop 15 guys during the day, that 15 hits per trolley per day - that’s how you inflate your stats!
With the business cards, i think same thing will happen, people will be checking the website out of curiosity and that’s it.
After the August campaign it will be interesting to check the hits on JW.org and then check them in October and see how traffic is performing.

Welcoming International Delegates for London 2014 IC
by Da.Furious ini had the pleasure of joining jw's on the weekend to greet the international delegates who are attending the london 2014 international convention at twickenham.. nothing interesting, just waiting for someone with a badge to come through the doors and all will cheer!
the interesting part is how they are behaving:.
1- the overseer: looked really bored, trying to impress surroundings by talking loud and how he can talk to immigration and check on passengers.

@jookbeard, it was from everywhere. We had people local and from Cardiff, Kent, Brighton and Luton (apparently all volunteers to Luton have been reassigned to Heathrow).
The interesting bit is that some delegates never bothered with the badges. And only put them after being greeted and for pictures - some are missionaries.

2- The hugging Sisters: One sister was so upset that she could not hug the delegates. I think she was on a mission to hug all, also i think she had her own hugging log book - I presume used later to show off and compare with others.
3- The photographer: wannabe photographer that takes every single picture of the greeters and the delegates.
4- The bachelor(ette): Trying to hunt a single brother or sister - i got my share before the sister noticed i was married. Also there were sisters with goodies, like a greeting card with their pictures and contact details, Not sure why .
5- The goodies distributer: It was very interesting to see how they are jumping to be the first who gives the goodies, it looked more like a competition and they like to show off who ahs the best items. To be honest these guys worked really hard and had some cool stuff.
6- The crier: Some get very emotional, looks genuine, but couldn’t understand why. Why would you cry when greeting a complete stranger!
7- The observer: That was me. Just standing and checking what is happening.
That's all for now.

Shunning Among the Shunned
by Quendi ini wonder if anyone else has had this experience or know of others who have.
when i was disfellowshipped, i approached another disfellowshipped person after the memorial celebration and asked him over for some refreshments and conversation.
he turned down my invitation saying that the elders had told him that he could not even talk to other disfellowshipped persons unless and until both he and they were reinstated!
-
Da.Furious
Unfortunately this is true. In order to be reinstated you have to be in good standing and behave like a JW, i.e. not bad association. This means talking with a DF'd results in delaying your reinstatement since you are not showing good judgement and talking to bad association.
Sounds crazy and does not make any sense but this is what actually happens.

by yogosans14 ini was dragged to the hall last sunday and wendsday and this woman infront of me was using her phone for the study articles and when we were getting up to do a song i saw her quickly sending a text, which shocked me because i know they dont allow that.

In our hall i have seen several brothers/sisters texting, purchasing items on EBay, reading news, and Playing games!
I was even asked by one of elders if we can monitor the internet usage and if we can block games, because someone reported it!
