Welcoming International Delegates for London 2014 IC
by Da.Furious ini had the pleasure of joining jw's on the weekend to greet the international delegates who are attending the london 2014 international convention at twickenham.. nothing interesting, just waiting for someone with a badge to come through the doors and all will cheer!
the interesting part is how they are behaving:.
1- the overseer: looked really bored, trying to impress surroundings by talking loud and how he can talk to immigration and check on passengers.

I had the pleasure of joining JW's on the weekend to greet the International Delegates who are attending the London 2014 International Convention at Twickenham.

1- The overseer: Looked really bored, trying to impress surroundings by talking loud and how he can talk to immigration and check on passengers
2- The hugging Sisters: One sister was so upset that she could not hug the delegates. I think she was on a mission to hug all, also i think she had her own hugging log book - I presume used later to show off and compare with others.
3- The photographer: wannabe photographer that takes every single picture of the greeters and the delegates.
4- The bachelor(ette): Trying to hunt a single brother or sister - i got my share before the sister noticed i was married. Also there were sisters with goodies, like a greeting card with their pictures and contact details, Not sure why .
5- The goodies distributer: It was very interesting to see how they are jumping to be the first who gives the goodies, it looked more like a competition and they like to show off who ahs the best items. To be honest these guys worked really hard and had some cool stuff.
6- The crier: Some get very emotional, looks genuine, but couldn’t understand why. Why would you cry when greeting a complete stranger!
7- The observer: That was me. Just standing and checking what is happening.
That's all for now.

Shunning Among the Shunned
by Quendi ini wonder if anyone else has had this experience or know of others who have.
when i was disfellowshipped, i approached another disfellowshipped person after the memorial celebration and asked him over for some refreshments and conversation.
he turned down my invitation saying that the elders had told him that he could not even talk to other disfellowshipped persons unless and until both he and they were reinstated!

Unfortunately this is true. In order to be reinstated you have to be in good standing and behave like a JW, i.e. not bad association. This means talking with a DF'd results in delaying your reinstatement since you are not showing good judgement and talking to bad association.
Sounds crazy and does not make any sense but this is what actually happens.

In our hall i have seen several brothers/sisters texting, purchasing items on EBay, reading news, and Playing games!
I was even asked by one of elders if we can monitor the internet usage and if we can block games, because someone reported it!

Wars of Religion - THE TIMES - What a JW will think
by Da.Furious inlink to the newspaper front page on bbc:.
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/blogs-the-papers-28699852.
reason i started this topic is related on how the wts/jw's will react or jump onto this piece of news.. in previous years where un or some nation condemned the vatican, jw's start jumping into conclusion the end is near the great tribulation is starting.

@darkspilver
I just read what BBC had in the comments. Appreciate if you have anything interesting to share with us. This might improve the discussion.
Anyway, the reason i have just commented on the title because this is what majority of JWs will do. Very few purchase newspapers or spend money on online newspapers.
I would not be surprised that a whole discussion about the end of religion will be based merely on a newspaper title. I may be wrong, but i have heard a lot of such statements based on just titles.

Reason i started this topic is related on how the WTS/JW's will react or jump onto this piece of news.
In previous years where UN or some nation condemned the Vatican, JW's start jumping into conclusion the end is near the great tribulation is starting. Governments are attacking religion and they will soon ban them.
This front page news titles: Wars of Religion. Is just talking on how the Muslim jihadist and extremists are attacking minorities including Christians and how the Wetsern countries need to stop this from happening.
So i am guessing the same reaction will now be observed by the WTS/JW. They will say: Governments are now seeing how religion is causing problems and governments will intervene to stop them and result in banning religion hence the GT.
What do you think? Would the WTS/JW's take this opportunity to increase efforts and maybe new magazines or talks discussing that these events are foretold into he bible and now they are happening?
Also do you agree that at some point governments will ban religion, hence the prophecy is fulfilled?

As others mentioned, i don’t like the label. I prefer they let us go without losing our family.
So in the current situation, YES i care since there is too much on stake, family wise.

Were you 100% in?
by pontoon ini was baptized in 1968. last meeting 2010. i have to say i was never 100% in.
there were times i absolutely believed, but i never really gave it my all.
never liked service, assemblies, meetings.

Da.Furious
At some points in my life i was 150% in and never asked why. After some major life changing events i started looking at things differently that’s when i started being just a number for the WTS.
I am still in, but definitely not 100% and don’t think i will bounce back to 100%.
