I am so thankful I escaped! I guess I can thank my ex-husband and many of the chauvinistic, hypocritical elders for being so unreasonable. They finally gave me the courage to stand up and say - I am out of here and I am taking my daughters with me - Just try and stop me!

What is the ULTIMATE goal of the Watchtower Society?
by MrDarkKnight inin a number of different threads comments have been made about the motives of the gb and the wtbts.
it made me think, what is their ultimate goal?
what is their end game?.

To be fair....My 80 year old father had open heart surgery recently; the witnesses have brought non-stop meals, flowers and cards. They also have kept up my parent's huge back yard by mowing, watering, weeding, trimming. They do take very good care of my parents.

They do a very good job cleaning my house and I do not have to worry about them stealing anything.

WTS Controlling Tactics Similar to Phillip Garrido's on Jaycee Dugard ........
by flipper in........ and of course, that should come as no big surprise considering phillip and nancy garrido were jehovah's witnesses either before, or quite possibly at the time they abducted & kidnapped jaycee and stole her life away for 18 years.
i will share some excerpts from jaycee dugard's new book " a stolen life " and see if you also identify similar mind control tactics garrido used on jaycee that the wt society uses on 7 million members.. notice this quote from jaycee about schools and education , " i, however, have mixed feelings about high school.
on the one hand, for eighteen years i had been taught ( by garrido ) that schools are bad and kids learn bad things there and peer pressure can ruin a child's life forever ; but when i consider who i heard all this stuff from, a kidnapper, rapist, pedophile, narcissistic, pervert, i can only come to one conclusion.

Shocking, but very similar to the Org. They drilled it in us constantly that were our protector - our refuge from the wind, when in reality they were our captor.

assemblies and my lovely wife
by stillin ini finally put a couple of pieces together that have boggled me for years.. i would take my family to the conventions and assemblies and for some reason, my wife would always be upset or start an argument in the car on the way home, or in the week that follows.
i realize now that her frustration is that i am not the guy in the demonstrations.
you know, the guy who has the bestfriend/elder who always says the perfect thing and the guy is so humble and does this little talks-to-himself thing where he reveals his deep spirituality and applies the ever-so-wise words of his friend and after that life is just great again!.

I know how you feel. My ex-husband was always disappointed in me spiritually. Constant friction after every meeting, assembly, convention etc........
He now has a JW wife half his age that leads him around with a noose. He has to walk the plank 24/7 - she is an absolute religious nut.

Was there anything different about you that helped you escape the WT?
by Giordano infor me i know it was because i was a reader.. i began reading books at the age of 13, this was in the 1950's.
because there were some serious family problems i had two escapes i could count on reading and associating with my friends at the kingdom hall.. as i devoured steinbeck, hemingway, wolf etc.
my world view expanded....it had to.

I am extremely social, an extrovert on every level. In dubland this was a handicap. In the real world it has so many advantages. When I realized people enjoyed my company, it became apparent I was in the wrong group of people, making my escape easier.

I had no idea how miserable I was in Watchtowerland. I simply thought it was the price we pay for being in this wicked system of things. Two elders came to my door a couple of weeks ago - it brought back such awful memories. They both had missing teeth, bad, bad suits and they smelled. When they asked if I have considered being reinstated - I about lost my lunch
