nOPE, sorry kids, it ain't.
Bring_the_Light
it can be picked apart scientifically and it's prophetic claims don't withstand scrutiny.
surely god could've come up with something more convincing?.
if the almighty had started genesis by establishing his credentials thoroughly i'd be more inclined to take the rest of the book seriously.
nOPE, sorry kids, it ain't.
Bring_the_Light
...apparently armageddon is not expected before january 2009. otherwise, there'd be no need to plan the change in the bible study so far in advance.
ARMAGEDDON HAS BEEN CANCELLED!!!
Actually, Armageddon has been cancelled due to disasterous head on collision with reality.
BOOYAH! Bring_the_Light
ok one of the only two peopel who don't know i haven't gone to meetings in 3 years sent me this remark: , i can't believe how all this time has gone by.
the one good thing about getting older like this is that it brings us that much closer to the new system.
i need a witty reply.
Yes, with every year "the Truth" becomes more and more clear to me.
without god, what is left of morality?.
without god, what purpose is there in man's life?.
if we do not believe in god, how can we be certain of anything?
It missed that God sent latter-day saints to North America. Who wrote the book of Mormon? surely not a man! Impossible! How would man even know North America is here after all!It missed that God had another prophet named Mohammed. Who wrote the Koran? surely not man! Impossible! How could a man write the Koran? Especially with all the crazy language and right to left orientation of text. Nuts, no man could ever master that!
It failed to predict this astonishingly witty yet mocking post! Who wrote this post? surely not a man! how could a man's logic be so stinging? The name Joseph Smith is not found in the Holy Bible, The Word of God. The name Muhammad is not found in the Holy Bible, The Word of God. The holy bible provides cross references many years apart and many of the actuall locations written in the bible are true.......The laws of Moses are found in the hebrew scriptures, the two tribes migrated from the east are which of the twelve tribes? All peoples, nations, and tongues originated in the garden of eden.
Why is it necessary to predict what you wrote? You are not a prophet are you?
*sigh* Why yes, I am a prophet. Jehovah came to me in a dream and told me these things. I am commissioned to Bring_the_Light by god.
we all know how hard it is, usually, for those rasied in the truth to readjust "outside in the world" once they leave ... so not to undermine them (esp.
for those who came in later in life - regardless of how many times from the podium you were instructed not to "leave the love you had at first" many of you are here because you found out the "truth about the truth" whether it was the people or doctrine or combination ... and were willing to open your mind, realize the "truth about the truth" and leave.
not to undermine all those years and mind numbing propaganda you endured in the jw's, but i have always felt: .
Maybe you should ask if once in and experiencing the "world" do born JW's get tempted into thinking of going back like myself.
I've felt the urge to "go look" again. And in the past 10 years anytime I wasn't happy, I'd "wonder" whether I would have been happier in the borg.
I think you'll never "actually" go back. I mean you might go to meetings, you'll play the game, you can't actually forget that you know the Ex-JW story and will actually resist anything crazy and pop back out again. This would be where we all chime in and plead NOO DON"T GO BACK!!! but I don't think we should or need to. Do whatever you want, its your life. Just please remember that, "Do what you want" and don't let them consume you. The non-JW does not demand allegiance or conformity, ours is an unconditional love.
When I "went to look" again, it shocked the hell out of me, the walls dripped with madness, the people creeped me out, and old friends were unrecognizable in mental distortion. So, I'm really quite confident I couldn't make myself go back, even if I was determined to do so. It just plain scares the pants off of me, now, used to "bug me" now drives me nuts.
Best of Luck, but reassimiliation with the Borg doesn't mean you'll leave us, does it?
Bring_the_Light
Its the things that my JW friends won't say to me. For instance, I really think the Filthful and Disgraced Slavekeeper ought to implement a "Shunned Notification" policy. The whole "not responding to emails" and "muttering softly until I go away" treatment is, well I guess pretty clear, but I'd really feel better if I got a "Shunned for Cult Reasons" certificate of authenticity so it wouldn't feel so much like people just being assholes to me.
first off, i make no claim to being an authority on cults or mind control.
i do however have first hand experience of it by being a victim of it.
how does the wts begin to excercise control over one's mind?
Reniaa,
The governing body of jehovahs-witness.com is becoming concerned at the seeming lack of rage against JW's you have been expressing recently. Have you been reading any JW literature? Do you think perhaps your associations outside of the forum are questionable in wholesomeness? Do all the people you choose to associate with, hate JWs as much as they should? Have you kept up in your study of Apostate literature, and researched and meditated on what you learned?
I think it would be good for Belzebub and I to come over for a goatherding call sometime soon so we can talk about your progress as an apostate and child of Satan. It is our job to ensure our flock has "sarcasm and spite at the proper time".
Would you welcome such a visit?
With Apostate rage and irrationality,
Bring_the_Light
doesn't the concept of armageddon negate free will?.
it's like saying "you can do what you want, but it's my way or the highway".
sorry if this has been discussed before, just sat at my desk, about to start work, and i had a thought..
.... and THAT is free will. Yeah, God, I'm sick of your shit, so that's a big negative on the narrow and cramped road travlin' deal you're offering me. Revise your offer and I'll consider my options.
Even a bible thumper would admit, yes, that can be done. I have free will. If I have a simple disagreement with the way god is running things, I can say so. There is no such thing as "must", only consequences. JW consequences aren't really so bad anyway, I dunno what all the fear is about. If you were up against eternal hellfire, now that would "put the fear of god" into you. I suspect thats why Catholics are so fond....

Hehe, I've often said I believe God exists, I just think he's an asshole, so we don't get along very well. I'm not concerned about Armageddon, I just want God to respond to the sternly worded complaint letter I intend to serve on him before I die. God's got some 'xplainin' to do as far as I'm concerned. Such as, how exactly does the loss of this apple though theft by Eve translate into I (who isn't Eve, and never knew the bitch) am punished for it? Even if I do owe God for Eve's sin, why do I owe God more than the depreciated value of a 6,000 year old apple?
Its so retarded that I'm just assuming its not true. I don't know that, so i could be wrong. Now the question is if I'm wrong, do I really want to use my graciously granted freewill to play this shit? I think no, in such a case where Jesus jumps out of a cake and yells "surprise you're wrong" better start preaching the good news, I may likely still take the "everlasting destruction" option. You know if they've pulled this much crap, everlasting life with these jokers is going to be a terror.
my two cents
Bring_the_Light
sometimes i think we lose all perspective at times on here.
that we are just as prone to over-magnifying any meaning behind relatively minor changes like this in the organisation in the same way jw's are prone to over exaggerate every bit of bad news in the world to mean armageddon is near.. when you sit down in the cold light of day, this change to the bookstudy arrangement for example, is it really that much a big deal?
i strongly doubt it really, despite initial reactions (including my own).
I don't think we fear they are right, I think we fear the organization will fail to implode, and people will continue foolishly happy/righteous for years on end.
I know the thought of thousands of people believing shit that ain't true, obeying 9 old men in Brooklyn and "feeling fulfilled" by it, pisses me the hell off. Face it, we deep down want it to come crashing down so we can yell BOOYAH! and then stand smugly at the door as they file out with their tails between their legs so they can see we were out first and my aren't we the smartypants.
We fear that feeling you get when a JW smugly preaches at you., OOoooh that feeling, and the deft little social quid pro quo's.
