"Why does America always bomb other countries?", my son asked tonight.
by digderidoo infirst of all i do not want to turn this into an american bashing thread, that is not my intention at all.. i would like to hear americans opinions as to what my thirteen year old son asked me tonight.. on the way back from swimming tonight my two sons (13 and 11) and myself started talking about wars.
my 11 year old was the first to bring it up talking about wwi & ww2.
we had an interesting conversation about it, then the subject got onto nuclear bombs.

I see you're of the opinion that torturing and murdering your way into dictatorial control constitutes a legitimate government. In that case, we certainly did much wrong to the third Reich and you must be sorry for that, right?
It is the peoples responsibility to rise up. The Third Reich was an aggressor, invading countries by the hand full. We are the aggressor in this case, like the Third Reich.
The Third Reich was a peaceful organization which finally brought unity to Europe. The various governments surrendered and dissolved themselves to be a part of it. (by your logic). The United States was TOTALLY uninvolved in this transaction, yet we sailed all the way across the sea to invade and impose "our" will on Europe, even though the third Reich NEVER attacked the United States, we had no cause to invade them. They were a stable and extremely prosperous super-nation until we fucked it up.
Jehovah's Witnesses have a stable organization. I see you approve.

I've gotten into this pattern of looking at everyone and trying to decide whether I'd prefer to be them or not. Its been an extremely long time before I've come across someone who I think is better than me.
Not being envious doesn't directly make you feel good about your lot, but it is good perspective.

Our CO gave a talk to kids. Stay OUT of school!

the main theme of the talk had to do with avoiding higher education.
basically the main idea was this: witnesses are losing alot of young people here in the last few years.

Bring the light, you really think higher education is just for trying to get wealthy? It may be for you, but some of us actually want to LEARN something. If you want to make money there are much better ways of doing so than going to college.
Higher education is viewed by virtually everyone as a way to improve your lot in life, in addition to many other benefits. Not sure why you'd key in and call this controversial. I have a Chemical Engineering degree, if I didn't need to worry about money, I'd major in everything. College had to be an "investment" in pursuit of some kind of pay off. If you think anybody presents their degree to the office of certifying wealthy people in exchange for earning their degree, you're a fool. Improve yourself so you will be capable of more. There is no education/wealth guarantee. There are PhD's on the street. Bring_the_Light

I have heard how US citizens feel their country uses war to fight for democracy and freedom, but that is not how many in Europe see it.

Things have really slown down, because being pussies who don't believe what they say and lacking the spine to stand with their convictions, the Europeans have slowly wandered away.
I don't care if Europeans don't think the United States uses its power to defend freedom in the world...... I'm just glad that they don't Heil Hitler anymore or burn Jews. The beauty of freedom my friend is you can be a moron in public. If all the dumbshits that couldn't think themselves out of a bag suddenly went silent, I would be more concerned than relieved.

And there's the added benefit of learning more about Jehovah's herbal creations that will make you self-sufficient when the grocery store shelves become empty when Jehovah destroys all the non-witnesses during Armageddon."Nice.
