Not what but why you believe.

jehovah's witnesses believe many things that are different then most christian religions.

i remember going door to door and people asking me all kinds of questions regarding my faith, they wanted to know what i believed.

what someone believes is important but what is even more important is why you believe.

I've recently discovered that the man who's NUMEROLOGY led to the ENTIRE CONCEPT that we are "IN THE LAST DAYS" also believed that the design of the Great Pyramid in Egypt supports his NUMEROLOGY.

It didn't take information like that to make me know its bunk (I don't even believe in the Bible, why?, it sounds stupid, that's all I needed), but now this realization that this WHOLE organization is based of the crazy speculation of a NUMEROLOGIST who didn't even get his real dates right, and who has a fucking PYRAMID as a gravestone, and the organization has predicted actual dates numerous times, wrong, yet keeps on kicking. I'm really, really in awe. Truly, if something sounds stupid, it probably is.

Diary of a thinking to return ex-Jw

i thought long and hard about posting this but the mis-information on this site finally persuaded me, i already accept many may not accept what i say on face value and get their appologist pens ready for making sure no pro-witness propaganda slips through the net on this site but here goes....... i've been on this forum for a few months my first post was about how i was thinking of returning to jw's and at my sisters recommendation to look at this site for both sides of the story before taking that step.. i faded from jw's 10/11 years ago now i left my hubby at the time divorced him to going on to have more relationships and kids, i was definately given the impression after asking on this site and with what i read that if i tried to return i might face df or at least a jc but definately a couple of elders questioning me over what i've been upto these last few years - none of these have happened.

i talked with an old jw friend (yes i do have then and she never shunned me quite happily accepted an offer of coffee from me and my asking for a chat) i told her i was interested in going back and was very frank about what i done in the last 10 years but not sure how returning was done now, she quite happily said she go ask for me to find out.. result!

she came back this week and said "all i had to do was goto meetings again" and an offer of a study was there for me if i wanted it to explore the open doubts that i had expressed i now had.. not quite the fire and brimstone welcome this site led me to believe would happen.. i will keep you posted with further updates if i feel the need to put them in future.. .

NOW HE's SPEAKING IN TONGUES. Damn brother, you'll probably get kicked out of JW's too for stuff like that. Just imagine, if this is one of the first guys we disfellowship from being worldly, AND he also manages to get the boot from the JayDubs, he'll be the first person who litterally can only associate with himself. (hmm, I wonder if that homeless guy that talks to himself had this happen to him, makes sense now).

Now, either get on the wide path that leads to everlasting destruction like the rest of us, or we'll boot you to the narrow and cramped. Being worldly HAS rules and standards that we all follow, not picking on you, just trying to be a good shepard of my goats.

LETTER RECEIVED FROM AN OLD JW ACQUAINTANCE

several weeks ago i attended a jehovah's witness funeral.

it was for my (former) best friend's mother.. i posted that account and of how surprised i was to meet old friends, "brothers" and "sisters" from my active jw days of old.. they treated me spontaneously with affection.. i got the following letter the other day from pamela.

she was the wife of another friend of mine.

If I did not believe in a creator who loves mankind, I would have a very hard time finding any reason at all to get up in the morning,
This is a classic JW line, yet far from reality.
1. JWs are not the only people that believe in a loving creator - an obvious point that seems to evade JWs
2. The Watchtower creator does not demonstrate a love for mankind, not when they claim he is soon to brutally slay billions of them

Anyone saying things like this who owns a gun should have their gun taken away for their own protection. The Light can strike into ones mind at any time.

wifekeepsmeinit: I think a lot of people on this site really enjoy dwelling on negativity. They dont see all of the positive things that come from Jehovahs Witnesses.

Why would you let your small issues with being worldly allow yourself to stumble! or worse let your vacillation stumble others in the community. You are neither hot nor cold your are lukewarm, for whatever reason I hear that's supposed to be the worst of them all.

What are your crimes? If you think JW disfellowshipping is bad, just wait till you get kicked out of the real world. THAT is where the crying and the knashing of your teeth will be!!

i don't know if its going to be a series or not, but this one is going to be about some guy in arizona who claims to be a (the?

) messiah, and his followers.

what were your first impressions?

i found this site through besty (husband) once my faith had crumbled after reading www.jwfacts.com.

She asked me if I was going on to websites "because there's one called jehovahs-witness.com that's an apostate website."

LOL! Its amazing, the internet was very young when I was a teenager (at least meaning it wasn't so ingrained into pop culture). I remember some kind of talk about the evil things apostates do, one of them was to "masquerade" as JW literature. I specifically remember "websites using Jehovah's name" as a trick to catch us.

Imagine 10 years of heartburn for those poor JW leaders (Hi Guys!). Who cannot stop this and also know they cannot stop or catch any JW kid who wants to check this out. We are the ULTIMATE bad association Bwhahahahaha!

I think its working. When I went to a couple halls recently, there were NO young people, like none whatsoever other than very small children. In my day Mpls/St.Paul was viewed as the JW party central because there were sooo many kids my age (I was from N. Minnesota, there were HUNDREDS of people roughly my age that we saw only at conventions. Part of the reason I want to go to the District convention this summer is to see how many are still around.

Lol part of me wishes I could say I was a JW just to see what you would do? (but I don't lie) maybe horsewhip me off this forum? one supposedly for Jw's but I get roundly harassed if i state for the record i'm simpathetic and will be speaking from that viewpoint.

We hold a Judicial Committee, she will be required to tell us the details of every sexual encounter she's ever had (just because, thats why), if found guilty of being a JW, she will be forbidden to talk to any worldly people until she mends her ways and repents.

Who's with me, we need to appoint some elders and think of some extra humiliating questions.

why do jw look down on someone going to college?

i wil never forget how when i graduated from high school in 1988 i had the opportnity to go to college.

all expenses paid.

my dad didnt approve of it and he was so emotionally abusive that i didnt go because i was told that i had to pioneer.

I have a Bachelors of Science in Chemical Engineering. I recently have been talking to my dad, who disassociated himself a few years after I left for colege, that his supporting my going to college was one thing he was criticized/counciled about.

I'm astonished, because I never heard a peep of it. My dad is truly a great man that I admire immensly. I'm sure his torment by this organization far exceeded my own. I was never pressured by my dad. He was a real believer, but I believe he knows in his heart that any such choice can only be my own.

jwtalks observed that login and password info was posted to an apostate site and changed them. The moderator stated his righteous hate for apostates. I guess he missed the gb instruction about the internet when he set up that site.

I don't get it, won't the Truth set me free? Why does the Truth need a username and passord? Is there also going to be a "members only" version of the "Truth"?
