  Plato writes that the Form (or Idea) of the Good is the ultimate object of knowledge, although it is not knowledge itself, and from the Good, things that are just, gain their usefulness and value. Humans are compelled to pursue the good, but no one can hope to do this successfully without philosophical reasoning. According to Plato, true knowledge is conversant, not about those material objects and imperfect intelligences which we meet within our daily interactions with all mankind, but rather it investigates the nature of those purer and more perfect patterns which are the models after which all created beings are formed. Plato supposes these perfect types to exist from all eternity and calls them the Forms or Ideas.[2] As these Forms cannot be perceived by human senses, whatever knowledge we attain of the Forms must be seen through the mind's eye (cf. Parmenides 132a), while ideas derived from the concrete world of flux are ultimately unsatisfactory and uncertain (see the Theaetetus). He maintains that degree of skepticism which denies all permanent authority to the evidence of sense. In essence, Plato suggests that justice, truth, equality, beauty, and many others ultimately derive from the Form of the Good.

  interestingly his parents were pioneering until the new service year 1975 , when they immediately changed tack and began investing in properties along the gulf coast.

  So what we can take from this is that its no wonder Lett knew the value of property investing from the many sales and purchases the WTS made. $$$

  Promote a vow of poverty to all others who are closely under him in the organization but make some lucrative investments behind closed doors.

  I think the most relevant explanation to the Rutherford qestion was this....

  Clearly and forcefully J.F.Rutherford had taken a small group of Adventist bible students enamoured of Pastor Russell's chronology and pyramidology and compacted them into a mind-control cult obsessed with proper behavior and adherence to rules, regulations and quirky interpretations from a central authority.

  Rutherford wanted complete control over people minds, thoughts and behavior and I think from him the foundation of a highly controlling religoius cult was formulated.

  Yes follow me for I am the anointed one, I am the FDSL, god channels his spirit directly to me, through me one achieves righteousness in the eyes of god.

  What Rutherford created was a religoius publishing house that used alluring tactics of fear, exploiting people's ignorance of secular knowledge and about what the bible really says, all endeavored to exploit people for labor and money.

  Covid-19 (Coronavirus) - Status Update Thread

  this topic is to focus on status updates & advice (no opinion or politics please).. status.

  latest status is that it's serious, probably isn't going to be contained and most large companies are making contingency plans, cancelling large events etc... which i don't think would happen if it was just people being alarmist.

  the incubation period means it may have already spread further and infected many more people than are currently known, so expect jumps in the numbers over the coming days and weeks.. tracking.

  If you live in a highly populated city that is known to have a lot of travelers particularity from Asia it would make good sense to wash your hands when you get home from doing things outdoors, such as working out of home, shopping whatever, until the known transmission of the virus is noted to be controlled. It will eventually due the travel restrictions being enforced.

  Be safe and keep cool, its not the end of the world.

  what is the benefit of god's kingdom?.

  the watchtower said when it started out in 1879 that god's kingdom had already arrived in heaven in 1874 and that its work would be complete by 1914. .

  with heroic slogans of "destroying the kings of the earth" and "all enemies of christ the king" etc by 1914, "god fearing" humankind was to have been restored to prelapsarian innocence and the earth to a global edenic paradise.

  Well there would be a lot of benefits if it were real, but all the nice possibilities thought out by the bible writers were unfortunately fictional mythology.
  

  The ancients asked for help to their specific worshiped gods they didn't have the knowledge of the world in which we lived so they had no others choice.

  In other words they created their gods and also created ideas for help from those gods. ie sickness, war and strife and death.

  In many ways the humans who lived in that era were much like the people living today
