Dear LadyLee...I feel so sorry for you going through all that trial and tribulation. I hope you have a better weekend than it sounds like your week was. Hang in there! (And here's what I think of the medical community as a whole...!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)

Hit Me With Some Snappy Comebacks Puleeeeeeeeze!!
by HadEnuf inokay...so i'm invited to a baby shower for my daughter-in-law which will most likely be attended by myriads upon myriads of jw's.
i won't go into the nasty details...but they've been married four years now and have another little daughter...their wedding was boycotted by most jw's because she was not baptized yet (but grew up a jw)...and my son was.
so every since the wedding fiasco...they have been pretty much shunned by the jw's...and attend meetings infrequently.

Decisions, decisions, decisions. Now I could take the "high road" and be all lovey dovey and forgiving (which I am not) and just make happy and let it go at that. But then, I ask of you, how could I face myself in the morning for carrying on such hypocrisy? (It's bad enough just looking in the mirror in the morning without seeing a hypocrite looking back at me too besides that fat, old lady with grey hair!) BUT...I just feel that too often these people get away with too much crapola and they need a good slap (figurative of course, though I would love to hit most if not every JW I used to know in my former life) in the face as a WAKE UP YOU IDIOT call. Though that might just fly right over their empty heads. (I am in a particularly foul mood today...sorry!) Now I know it won't bother my beloved daughter-in-law one little bit if I was to stir things up a bit...she is quite the rebel herself and would have no hard feelings towards me if I told a few people off. Oh dear...what to do...what to do. Personally I am leaning towards the not so nice side of me! Jeeeeeeeeeeeeshhhhhhh...I shoulda notta even started this thread!!! (No...I am glad I did; you're all giving me much food for thought and many good laughs!) Cathy L.

Yup...I just knew I was dealing with a bunch of genius's here at this forum. I am gonna print out all these wise cracks and start practicing them all week (fortunately the shower isn't until the 18th)...I'm not too good at memorizing but I have a whole lot of those 3 X 5 note cards left over from when I did ministry school talks back in the 80's!!! I just knew they might come in handy some day.
Thanks people...you MADE MY DAY!!! (Boy oh boy...do I just wish I had the guts to say some of this stuff you have come up with!!) Cathy L.
P.S. I can't even pick a favorite out of all these because they're all such a hoot. Glad I had my Depends on while reading these!!

does anyone remember being a child as a JW and not having holiday?
by franklin J ini am curious to know how many others shared the same experiences as me as a child, growing up as a jw.. surfing this board has brought back a flood of memories ( i am secure enough to deal with them) not all good.
i have been away from jws for sometime, and remember being a child in school and having to explain why i do not salute the flag, why i have to leave the room when there is a birthday or christmas party, why i had to explain when i was seen going door to door ( i grew up to be a pioneer).
being "different" is hard for a child.. now that i have 3 children of my own, who are fortunatelly not growing up as jw, to see how secure and well adjusted they are in school is comforting.

Arghhhhhhhhhh!!! I hated being the oddball in school. I think it made school very hard for me and turned me into an introvert when my extrovert side was screaming to come out. I am sad to admit that I raised my kids the same way...I think actually that may constitute some sort of child abuse! But we are out now...my younger son was never baptized and my older son is just going "through the motions" and not doing that very well. We have talked about this and I have apologized to them but they tell me I was just doing what I thought was best for them at the time; just like my mom thought it was best for me at the time. Boy...I LOVE those kids! We don't celebrate the holidays now that we're "out"...but if my kids were smaller (they're 26 and 21 now)...I think I would celebrate everything just so they could have a normal childhood.
Yup...I sure do remember. Cathy L.

Okay...so I'm invited to a baby shower for my daughter-in-law which will most likely be attended by myriads upon myriads of JW's. They never gave her a shower for the first baby...and now they've decided to have one for this second one...probably some type of "let's give them a little love and get them back in" project.
Anyway...I know that if I go (and I dread it but I love my daughter-in-law and I must show that I'm not afraid of all those ex-friends of mine who were never really friends in the first place) someone is going to say the dreaded line: "WE SURE MISS YOU!" Now my husband and I have been gone from the KH for over 3 years and we have had nary a call or visit from any of these people...which is a good thing but at first made us feel bad but now WHO GIVES A FLYING FART!! So...does anyone have any snappy comebacks for this hypocritical statement which will be issuing forth from JW lips? My inquiring mind wants to know...so give me your best shots...Serious or silly...it matters not.
Thank you for your attention to this matter of prime importance. Cathy L.

Move Over Sharon Osbourne!
by HadEnuf inas the proverbial "stage mom"...i would just like to announce to the general population here that my two boys & two of their friends had a song from their first cd played on a local (very popular) radio station the other night!
since i consider you all my friends and support network...i decided to do a little bragging.
they had a nice story written about them in our local paper last week, along with a picture of the four of them back stage at luther's blues in madison, wi.

Hey xjw...maybe I'll suggest that the kids do a cover of "Losing My Religion"!!! That might be a fine addition to their repertoire! Morton...Yea...I could put up with Ozzie; but he would have to stay permanently in rehab somewhere in south america. Xena...my son's father-in-law lives in Green Bay and is trying to find some "gigs" for the guys in Green Bay/Appleton or in the vicinity. If you go to their website at www.treeofwoeband.com they list where their upcoming shows are. But I don't think as of now that they have anything going there yet...they have to send out press kits to some places before they are usually invited to play at venues where they aren't well known. Thanks for asking! I know they don't have too much on the agenda for November because my oldest son is expecting his second child in late November; so he wants a break to spend time with the little family. He already has a 20 month old...(geeeeeeeeeeeshhh...needs a book asap on birth control!) He also goes to school part time and works full time as a computer programmer plus doing the band thing. But hey...he's got lots of time now that he doesn't have to be a slave to the watchtower! Cathy L.

Thanks franklin & SevenofNine! I'm working on the new friends...after 40+ years as a JW...it's gonna take some time to figure out what I'm doing & who I can trust! SevenofNine...that little Ozzie shouting "Sharon" was hilarious! Yup...hope these guys make it; at least in the midwest area. A lot of their music is written from stuff down deep that they have been "suppressing" since being raised in the JW cult. Makes for some pretty poweful stuff! (Ahhhhhhhhhh...HadEnuf thinks she hears the Limo pulling up to her front door...nope...just the UPS dude; and not even a delivery for me!)

Hey XJW! I would scan it if I knew how...but I am rather "computer challenged" at the moment. I have a scanner and I think I know how to turn it on (probably the only thing I can "turn on" anymore...rofl!!)...if anyone could give me directions on how to do this in an extremely simple manner....I would gladly post the article!

As the proverbial "stage mom"...I would just like to announce to the general population here that my two boys & two of their friends had a song from their first CD played on a local (very popular) radio station the other night! Since I consider you all my friends and support network...I decided to do a little bragging. (And besides...since I do not have any friends around here since leaving the JW's...I figured I had to have someone to announce this to!)
They had a nice story written about them in our local paper last week, along with a picture of the four of them back stage at Luther's Blues in Madison, WI. (A top notch music venue...they usually play in questionable bars, etc.) I wonder how all the elder's liked that? My youngest son was never baptized, but my oldest son is still "in" (well...he thinks he is still a JW but seldom goes to meetings...no service...no assemblies, etc.)
Anyway...before I get too obnoxious here...I am just so proud of them. They wrote all the songs on their album and though being prejudiced as their mom...we have gotten nothing but good reviews from people who have heard their CD. They're called Tree of Woe (don't even ask me about how they came up with that one!) and their CD is called Withered Oak. Of course it is only available locally...but if you would like to hear some bits of it you can go to their website at www.treeofwoeband.com .
Okay...I'm done now. Thanks for giving me a listening ear. I'll let you know when I become the "Sharon Osbourne" of Stevens Point, WI!!!
