i just had a visit by an old prude jw in hot springs today.
she and her young girl tag along wanted to give me a bible reading.
A wise guy on here posted a saying by another wise guy "When the student is ready the teacher will arrive" I beleive that sometimes the student is never going to be ready,but I also believe in gently giving them ONE question,such as
"Using just the bible can you prove to me that Jesus chose the Bible Students in 1919?"
"Can you prove to me that the WT is God's Channel from the Bible?"
"Can you show me from the Bible that the FDS is the Mediator?"
If they are willing to discuss one such question in a proper manner then maybe they are a student who is ready,if not don't waste your time, I know it stings when they think they are so right and we know they are not,but who is wasting their life?

i'm amazed at how many on this forum, believe the gb really believes their own lie, that they are god's "official channel".
are there many of you that believe as i do.
i believe somewhere deep down they know they are just fooling people.
On Badboy's thread about writing to the GB or bethel I asked how can the guys answering the questions not wake up,and surely the question and their reply gets some approval from above,so really the GB must know where they stand, THEY ARE LIARS.

I wrote a couple of times,once about the Generation doctrine,got an evasive reply referring to WT literatrash, and in the early seventies I wanted to grow a beard and my wife got me to write so that she could see their views on this,when we eventually got the reply (1 year?) she did not object so I grew one,remained a Ministerial servant,gave public talks,even in other congo's,but eventually ,after thirteen years,shaved it off.
What I wonder is how long they leave a guy on the desk answering stuff,because surely anybody with half a braincell would realise they were having to lie and wriggle with the replies. So do they let someone do it for a while and then move them to other work? or do they have a liars competition and whoevere wins gets the Questions Desk?

i have been virtually non-stop studying everything i can get my hands on with regards the wtbts, and "apostate" literature and information.
in all honesty, 80% at least is non-sense and over critical.
however, i do find about 20% (if i have to create a percentage reference) is appropriate in its line of reasoning and questioning.
Is JohnnyC really Reniaa under another name? I have only speed read the first three pages of this thread,but he seems to be of the same ilk if not the same person,an Apologist for the WT,trying to excuse their lies and deception.

well i overheard my wife last night on the phone telling someone she does not celebrate thanksgiving, i have asked her in the past why and she gave the stock answer about how holidays are rooted in paganism.
well from what i know, there is nothing pagan about the thanksgiving celebration, what is the official reason that is given for not celebrating this?

I know,someone will say "they celebrate the Memorial" Celebrate? The two words do not belong in the same sentence.The Memorial is the dullest day of their year.

It's about the pointless loss of a dear son,I have two sons and I love them like crazy,so does their Mum,so it chokes me up so much this song that I can't sing along with it.

has anyone on here used the method of sending a letter to the editor of their local paper, either exposing some of the wt's general misdeeds ie: child abuse, shunning, etc.
or something perpetrated on them personally?
if so, has anyone sent one to the fort worth star-telegram?
Something I suggested on another thread was,try slipping in the info. that it is easy to get put on the JW "Do Not Call" list.just simply but firmly ask them next time they call,you can hang this on to a story about bogus callers or something,as though your main concern is reducing crime,not Witness bashing.
If enough people do this it would knock the silly door to door stuff.

I stopped supporting them in a financial way even before I left,to start with because I was hard up,then because I didn't want to.
I suppose for a while I supported (mentally) them by believing they had some of "the Truth",but the more I thought about it and looked into it(with the help of all you great guys on JWD) even that tacit support went,so NO NO NO !
